He can start with a mana charm or whatever its called and a flask for crazy regen and build straight into a Muramana which will give him all the damage his build will need, and then just build tanky. The new defense tree is way better for him with all the CC reduction, makes it much easier for him to just walk into the enemy team. I think he will be very OP. Anybody concur? Don't forget the removal of - minion damage.

Edit: Unless they release a series of the Arclight/Justicar skins. Wanna see a "hallowed angelic light" for Irelia, Diana, and Leona, then have Angel God Mode team rollout. Yes it's Engineer. I finished an Embermage playthrough once, but I am very unhappy about my skill choices so I decided to play a different class instead.

The only way you wouldn't have known how strong the -2 damage and -2 minion damage is if you never ever played top lane throughout S2.

No wonder it got removed. -2 Minion damage translates can translate into ~20 damage difference taken in melee autoattack trades in lane. When early autoattack trades often don't result in upwards of 150 damage, that's a very noticeable difference in the amount of damage taken, and that difference is even greater when the creep pressure is toward your side.

Mid and support are the only ones where it might be ok not to take it if you're going into defense at all.

You would still often take the -2 minion damage though with the leftover points. i disagree mang if you're going to play aggressively at all then 11 in the defense tree is much better than some shitty 3 mana per 5 just waste less mana on creeps and you're already having more mana than what the mastery gives you. in the rare situations where u run oom and cant back sure it might suck but having 50 more hp and getting -4 dmg from creeps is still much more worth it. honestly i'd never get mana masteries anymore

Think about how much armor it coverts to. If you have 30 armor at the start of the game, a caster minion does 25*100/130 = 19.2 damage. -2 minion damage makes that 17.2 damage. In order to see how much armor that's equivalent to, solve for x in 25*100/(100+x)=17.2, and we get x=45.3. Those two mastery points were literally +15 armor vs minions. (The effect is even bigger vs melee minions, which have lower AD than caster minions)

Season 2: 21 + 46% Armor Penetration Season 3: 16.5 + 40% Armor Penetration Effective Penetration at Various Armor Levels (Season 2 | Season 3):
So really unless your targets are sporting significantly more than 100 Armor you're not going to notice the difference. If your champion has a % Reduction/Penetration effect there's never a point where you aren't better off in Season 3. Also the current price of BT on the PBE is identical to Live. So really the only nerf to AD casters/assassins is the GA nerf, which (given that they tend to have better health scaling and itemization to beginwith) isn't the end of the world (and in fact helps them as GA is also a favorite of their primary targets). Uh, TIL, thanks. I didn't do the precise maths but I expected the result to be actually "less grim" that what I said, but not to that extent (rather a "it'll be worse, but not to the point you're depicting"). And BT is actually a buff if it really didn't go up in price with the lower BFS. Now I'm just wondering about the timing for LW (but since it goes well with bruta I guess bruta > early armor other than chainvest), and the cost of lifesteal, but that one's just my playstyle (I chug a lot of pots when I play Talon because I take way more harass than I should if I was competent, not so much when I play Panth).
