I'm really excited for ranked 5s actually meaning something, but there's a couple of big problems aside from win trading I see, and I'm not sure what Riot plans to do to overcome them: 1) Queue times. It's already pretty awful for those at the top; what's going to be the incentive to play when you're all the way up there and you have to wait an hour to get matched up with someone who isn't even remotely close to you in elo? 2) Smurf teams. What will stop the top players from creating 10 different teams and taking 10 of those top 32 spots? It happens already quite a bit. | ||

At least its better than Leona who Q everything they can just because. My carry farming at tower? NP time to Q onto their support. My team heading to drag? NP time to Q+R their team at their mid inner tower. Edit: Btw I was spectating a featured game, and the names of some of the players didn't match what it said in the featured window, but the other players were the same and champs were the same. Is this because of name changes? | ||

It happens already quite a bit. i'm pretty sure other teams will be the answer to both of your questions like if i was 11th on the ladder and i saw the top 10 were comprised of mostly the same players, wouldn't i just spam more games til i got up there? wouldn't 12th, 13th, and 14th place do the same? and with more teams wanting to compete, queue times will be less of an issue | ||
