So $360/hr actually isn't impossible to make. :p You didn't factor in adblock. Stil a shitton of money though. I am guessing at least 50% of the viewers run add block, so the income would be much less than this but yeah it is still a lot of money. However the problem with Esport and LoL in particular is that it pays great to a very small amount of people. If you are at the top of the tree then yeah it pays big, but if you are in one of the lower tier teams, then it isn't so great...
You're also not factoring in that TSM have much better rates than $3 per 1k adds.

The players/teams who get the most viewers often have that because they are in the top teams. They've gotten recognized for their success. So they get lots of ad revenue as well as the riot sponsorship.
This is why Esports in America is hard. 1. Even if you are good its hard to get recognized and make it to the top tier. 2. The chances of being good are low like any competitive sport. 3. Even if you make it to the top tier you make a good life, but not for long (much like a pro athlete), but nothing extraordinary like a pro athlete. 4. Cost of living in America is relatively high compared to other countries, and the welfare state is less expansive thus the risk profile is not in favor of it for many people.

Repeat ads in short timeframes don't get you paid or only get a smaller amount. Many areas have very few ads in rotation, so they get the same ad 2-3 times in a row. Many people run adblock which give no impressions at all. Many people are in regions that have no ads, which also give no impressions at all. For Own3D, the higher "partner" is 2.50 per 1000, though bigger organizations (e.g. CLG) probably have additional incentives or profits.
It's hard to say exactly what everyone is making off streaming because they're so tight-lipped about it.

The most I have ever heard someone talk about streaming revenue was Destiny. As far as I can remember he said that as long as he gets 1k viewers average every day he can live off of it.He just needs to stream a decent amount of time(I'm guessing around 8-12 hours).

Is this S3 league supposed to work as the BW Proleague in BW back in the day? (I miss you proleague ;-()
I wouldnt run adblock but two things annoy me a lot: 1. solomid.net is unvisitable w/o adblock on. really terrifying 2. The ads at the beginning when you turn on a stream totally turn me off. I keep switching stream regularly since I don't want to watch every champion the streamers play.

Yeah I'm not sure how many viewers he had or how long he streamed for but this image: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o1bSDUTOBSo/TwiBc7ZzTpI/AAAAAAAAA3I/oOVmVjggP4k/s1600/KUQCe.jpg shows that Destiny was making a few hundred dollars per day, which is crazy.

Dont know if it's germany not getting any ads but I've disabled my adblock for streams I like e.g. Oddone's but I never actually get ads.
600$ on 1 day alone wtf

i remember hotshot said before on his best stream day of like 15 hours with 20k viewers he made 2k in 1 day.

This should honestly be emphasized more and it's a problem that isn't even natural to just American eSports but eSports in general. It isn't physical like actual sports and so while you might become good enough to be considered the best and dominate a scene for awhile it's impossible that your domination is going to last more than a few years (if that). Look at the fall of the bonjwas in Brood War. All of their careers were way less successful than like an average MLB or NBA player (in terms of monetary measures). Look at League, CLGna is practically a joke team outside of the NA scene and they were for months considered the strongest team in the world. FnaticMSI won season 1 pretty easily and now they're just an average team. M5 was hailed as the greatest team in the world but they've already been beaten by TPA and some of the Korean teams look just as strong.
eSports is going to have a hard time cementing a place where it's accepted as legitimate. The risk is too high, the pay off too low, and the best players/teams do not stay the best for long enough. Especially in a scene that's really young like League or SC2, which is a shame since as the game gets older it's likely to have fans die off and/or become interested in newer games.

Explain for someone who didnt read harry potter pls (: ( all i know is hes the bad guy lol)

anything deeper is irrelevant, he was the "evil guy" because he hogged all the viewers, beyond that they share nothing in common

Damn I know Dyrus loves to buy 2 Dorans Shields when facing Irelia as Vlad but buying 2 Dorans shields on Irelia against Jax, which is admittedly a slightly difficult lane for irelia, is a very questionable choice.

NO. We dare not speak his name.

He's playing against Tristana+Sona, though. ... which is also a lot of magic damage anyway.

Chaox is dunking in TSM vs. oRb lol

Is it just me or can you not see All Chat when spectating a game or when watching a League Replay using the Spectator option?
|
it's defaulted to off, but you should be able to see it. (if you turn it on)
|
I also wondered about that? whenever I spectate featured games and turn the chat on I only see item purchases and dragon/Baron has been killed messages butno all chat

it is possible it is related to friends list, I don't often spectate games via featured or other
