If he tries to use spells only when you go for cs you just get the cs and run from the ghouls, you'll take minimal damage especially when W is on CD and its pretty long cd. Also he has to play really agressively to play like that and it makes him massively easier to gank
The most depressingly true statement about toplane I've heard in a while.

not nearly as depressing as mid lane where you insta die if you play agressive and the junglesr near
top lane has a lot of room actually the only really bad time is the first few levels when the jungler can gank you whenever he wants and if your jungler doesnt intend to be there you just have to lose cs or be killled
just make sure to pick solid champs like shen/irelia/malph if you're first to pick top lane and if you're not just pick something that either outtrades or sustains the harass I don't see the huge problem

Well the jungler made the lane push, and Yorick froze it a bit after the river. Then, if he casts E on you when you go to cs, you'll eat some damage (possibly more depending on minions and pathing) and if you have to run from the ghoul, which lasts 5 seconds, you'll probably lose some other cs too. You can make it shorter by running into a bush, but then he can W you without pushing the wave.
Obviously it's special conditions that were less than ideal there, but I mean he can harass without pushing, so you need a champ who can withstand his constant E harass (since with tear he can basically use it on cd) without losing too much cs, and if you ever get zoned out of the creep wave it's easy for him to use W to prevent you from approaching. In that sense, it's quite easy for him to punish mistakes (be it yours, or a jungler fucking up a gank and/or pushing the wave) unless you can basically ignore him from a defensive standpoint, reducing drastically the champion pool that can go up against him. I guess it can be very different depending on how much time it takes him to get his tear, and that if you can pull the wave it's much harder for him to zone since you don't have to run far to kill the ghouls with the tower, so it's probably me lacking experience in the match-up (since the most part of the laning phase is played post-tear, you need to play the match-up often to have the opportunity to practice the all-important part that comes before).

if he freezes lane you need to be able to clear the wave and win a trade with your wave hitting him or else you need to clear the wave and just go back to base if you're too low.
also if he freezes lane you can just run into the brush
it all comes down to the original statement either you can trade of sustain. If you can't do either then no shit you're going to lose cs and have to make tough decisions.
don't pick olaf into yorick or don't pick olaf before top lane is picked it should be a simple enough decision
oh and consider requesting the jungler to come and push the lane out if it's frozen so he can't just tank you+the wave and it'll cause the lane to rubberband back.

I had a super depressing toplane the other day. Jax v. Olaf. I got camped by Shyv 2-5, but didn't die. Then I absolutely had to back and got back to lane behind in CS and levels. Finally Skarner "Ganks" and by gank, I mean steals cs and EXP while pushing the lane and never hitting olaf..
By the time Olaf backs he can zone so hard and push straight to tower when he needs to.
I mean if I was a 2400 ELO player I probably could have gone even during that sequence instead of being massively behind, but that situation is why people hate top (sometimes). I don't hate top, except in the 5% of games that go how that game went.

I've always maxed E on blitz. The change in cooldown to 5 seconds on E is more significant than getting Q cd to 16 seconds because it means you can use E 2+ times and it does more damage. W does more damage with ranks if you can stick to your target, but isn't reliable to max first.

I dislike top lane because I can't play the champions I enjoy. They all get shit on by the FotM top laners.
So mid and support ftw!

except top lanes usually have some sort of escape and get pretty tanky later in. Also you can ward later, and you risk giving up free dragon going top too late.
Irelia has Q and E to get away Malphite can ult and get away jayce has his knockback and speed gate
most common top laners except yorick have good escape skills and are pretty tanky so you can get away with more as a top although obvious you'll still die to a lot of ganks

Getting zoned mid: Wait 3 seconds for wave to be at tower. Getting zoned bot: You lost so hard its not funny.

It's just that no1 really plays like that in mid anymore since the mid could just leave and gank. Basically, it's possible to do zone in mid, but there can be repercussions for doing so.
Bot, there are bot lane duos that simply autolose to other bot lane duos, and you can't fight them regardless of what you do. Others, all it takes is a jungle gank for the lane to go heavily in the other's favor. Sound a lot like another lane? Granted, it is more challenging to straight counterpick bot lane than top, but it does happen.

Played Corki-Taric against Ez-Leona. Got rolled 8-0. Granted I am a really shitty corki player but man, if i get hit by zenith blade I am just insta-dead.

Holy shit. Skarner just got a lot cooler now that I found out he's voiced by the same guy who voiced Zaraki and Jiraiya. No wonder he sounds badass. :D Also last game with Skarner I felt like freaking CloudTemplar and got my highest rating so far (whoop whoop 1171)

reason top lane sucks is because for some time all the least fun opposing champs riot has released go there. Wow i can malphite vs yorick? That sounds so fun, i can't wait to run from his ghouls until my ass cakes with rock again. You could always beat yorick, even at his most broken i beat him consistently with lee sin, who cares? It's still only marginally more enjoyable than microsoft space pinball or whatever it's called, so why aren't i booting that, or better yet reading a book, instead of league of legends?

can somebody please help... ive been having these weird lag spikes, my ping is constant at 40 but every minute or so i get these spikes, ping stays 40ms but everything freezes for a sec and then "glides" back into place. its so damn annoying and whenever i search for lag spikes online people get massive ping spikes and thats NOT whats happening to me. Thanks
