Dianas mechanics seem similar to udyr in jungling: third hit AoE, a shield, AoE damage (from getting hit with the shield), a shield. We'd have to see her numbers to see if she has to be built ap though. A spammable gap closer is similar enough to a spammable move boost+stun. It's very likely she has nowhere near the base damage of udyr.

Don't worry,diana won't be a jungler anyway,she's most likely going to have a similar life as fizz had,where no one really knew where to put him,people jungled him,played top and mid and eventually that's just where he ended up now.
I'm pretty sure diana will be a mid lane.

Diana mid is actually pretty retardedly strong post-6. You can abuse her harder than you can abuse morde since all she has early is her Q which isn't all that hard to avoid if you're at the far end of it.

At 6 though, the diana I faced just spammed Q's until she hit one and then immediately went all in. One point in shield, one in the suck-in thing and 3x in her Q. It's not on the zyra level of damage but it's pretty close. Q->ult+ignite->shield, moonfall if you run, ult if you flash. If she gets off two passive charges, she'll melt your face, it's pretty scary.

I think playing anything past 1am PST is a crapshoot.
The two games I won in there are
1: 2 afks on other team, 1 afk on ours. autowin
2: Enemy lastpick decides to not support and goes tele revive karth and runs and autos mid tower

The difference in skill from 1650 to 1500 is stupid though. I had a nunu sit in the bottom lane brush, not moving, get Q'd by ezreal 5 times in a row because they had a ward in there and then finally EQW auto for the free kill. He loved snowballing the taric, bloodboiling creeps and running to ward dragon when the enemy duo is pushed to our tower.

Also had a jax who had sub-40cs in a 20 minute surrender where he got FB'd and then literally walked to lane to counterstrike, empower a creep, leap on another and then die.

not rly it feels exactly the same lol.

hell some games you have elo ranges from 1300 to 1800 cause of duo qing, feels exactly the same lol. elo skill difference is vastly overexaggerated it all comes down to how ppl play in one particular game and that has huge variance.

Just some numbers for level 6 Diana

In a combo assuming you get a passive proc, QWRER
Passive 65 (+.6)
Q 170(+.8)
W 60(+.6)
R 200(+1.2)

for 335 (+3.0)

Not particularly high in terms of base values but coupled with the fact that she attacks fast, can actually combo people really hard. She can also take wraiths about as easily as morgana can.

I'm a little surprised she isn't drawing more comparisons to Riven.

Passive to scale her autos.
Self shield.
Relatively minor(duration wise at least) CC, centered on herself.
Dashes all day.
No real significant cooldowns, at level 18 her longest cooldown is 18 seconds.
One stats scales offense and defense pretty strongly.
Completely obliterates minions/monsters.

The biggest difference seems to be that she uses mana. Her costs aren't all that prohibitive from what I've seen, but using a resource at all means she's probably less of a win every lane kind of champ.
Am I way off base here?

Yes,because riven is a incredibly mobile,mana-less champion pre 6 even,has better cc.
Diana isn't mobile at all before 6 and even than she can only be offensive with it,that's why she will never be a legit top lane among other things.Unless you want to get ganked over and over and over again.

I don't get why people are trying to put diana where she doesn't belong just because she has similarity's to some other champs that are good in jungle/top lane.Just because she has loads of aoe clear possibility doesn't make her a good jungler alone.She can clear wraiths and wolves fast sure,but than she needs to blow a decent amount of her mana pool to do a buff,wriggles is a waste on her so you don't really have strong dragon control,and you can't gank well pre 6.
She is pretty one dimensional in that sense as a jungler and that's why I don't like her at all there,her pace is set at all times and you can't really alter it like with udyr/shyvana/noct/naut/mundo/lee etc.
On the other hand her kit is exactly what you need on a good mid lane right now.Really quick wave clear,ability to do wraiths in 2 spells and her roaming is really strong.Because of her Q she is one of the safest melee mids,it has a low cost,low cd,good range and really good damage so you can be pretty safe pre 6 ,not waste a lot of mana and you can't get pushed in as someone like fizz,kassadin,ryze etc.Her burst is pretty strong with a DFG and she can chase down people.

Actually looks pretty good. Her E damage/range was way too high. I still think she'll be good, if not still on the strong side.

Ahhhh Idk what to do when I get home from work: Diana mid or try new Zyra (assuming the hotfix comes in within the next 8 hours).

Btw her night elves skin sucks so bad... Wouldn't buy if you're not a fan of WoW night elves. I mean it is great, an awesome skin. But I have night elves.

I've only jungled her so far and she does fine. Her ganks aren't great pre-6 in that you can really only gank someone who's overextended, but with red it's a guaranteed kill/summoner. Post-6 she's an amazing ganker cause her damage is so damn high. Clear-wise she clears super fast and is super safe. Never drop below 75% and I'm opening regrowth 'cause you can't really gank that well early anyways.

She might do well mid, except for the fact that she's melee means she'll get abused pretty hard. Her mana costs aren't very high but you can't really spam your spells nonstop either. Taking camps in jungle isn't mana prohibitive because her passive is essentially another nuke for free.

Whoops misread that I guess.

Her passive is a .2 AP ratio on her atuoattacks on average, slightly stronger than Orianna's and with more burst to compensate for the range. It's good, but I wouldn't call it stupidly strong.
