Cloth+5 pot+lvl 1 W+defensive masteries/runes means you go to lane with over 70 armor. Add your passive on top of that and you barely take any damage. Get philo stone and the sustain from philo is usually enough to cover most harass you take. Not to mention you trade extremely well with sheen+Q+auto combo. Poppy does get raped by people she can't trade with, basically range champs+olaf because imba true damage. Everyone else she does pretty well against simply because she doesn't take damage. I see most Varus level Q. On TL I saw people suggest Q and E but never W. I think max W helps his lower than average dps and I don't feel max Q is crazy strong in lane. Gonna try max W later for a few games and see how it works. | ||

You definitely can't make it obvious you're picking Poppy and allow the enemy to counterpick: She can be shut down really hard (add Swain to the list of hardcounters imo). Except the comparison between Make it Rain and Hail of Arrows doesn't work at all. Make it Rain has an aggressively scaling mana cost, doesn't have scaling CD, doesn't scale with AD, and has way shorter range, so it's practical usability is much lower. Honestly, I'd max Varus' E first. | ||
