Two days ago for the first time i teamed up with a friend for multiple normal solo queues. we played decently together and went 15 wins 0 losses , which was quite fun.
Yesterday i solo queued once again , and swiftly went 0 wins 10 losses , could not win a game for the life of me.
is that "payment" for teaming up ? or just bad luck / coincidence ? was wondering if i should be careful when teaming up .

How do you deal with someone who has crit runes and you just can't trade him since he crits too much?

From my experience it's not luck. When you win that many games in a row, your normal elo will be high enough to be grouped with much worse(low elo) players against decent opponents. And the games are most of the time uncarriable.

what does 4not stand for? 4 no trump?

Attack them back since they lack defense Wait till lategame where u crit harder

I wish more people had this attitude. Great writeup and a great outlook on solo Queue. Thanks!

The cards analogy is a pretty good one... sometimes you can get some pretty mediocre (or even bad) players on your team and get them to perform a lot better than they otherwise would because of how you "played them."
On the other hand, there are a lot more jokers in solo queue. :>

If it wasnt for luck I'd win all of them!

Can you (or anyone) copypaste this here? The site (like a lot of blogging sites) is blocked in China, but I'd like to read it. Cheers
Edit: thankyou Roffles and Mordek for the PMs Reading now.

So guys, Im just curious, I havent really done any maths, but is there any situation in which you would buy a tiamat other than for laughs? Assuming you were super ahead or something. I can only think of malphite, that too if youre super fed. Not sure if the tiamat procs on the aoe of his melee.

It used to be that there were several damage reductions that applied to true damage (Leviathan @ 20 stacks was one, iirc), but they changed everything to not affect true damage in one of the patches, so now it does full damage always.

Havent done the math but I think stat wise it is a pretty decent item, even excluding the aoe component. The real problem is the combination of stats. Most champs looking for a cost effective source of midgame damage (usually bruisers) also want defense, making items like wriggles and phage quite popular. Tiamat is only good on champs who want tje damage but dont need the defense and also dont need arpen (or else you just get bruta). Put all that together and I have found a single champ where it actually is pretty good: poppy.

That's bad considering the price range, no item to build it into, and the weak combination of stats. It's not good on Poppy, as it has no burst potential. Sheen + Philo is pretty much straight up better on her, and if you already have those, Trinity Force is the better choice.

Didn't mean that it was the correct build, just that she is the only champ it makes sense on. while I also build philo sheen, it does mean that you have absolutely no ability to push a lane, meaning most top lanrrs can push a wave then help their team with objectives while sheen poppy is taking forever just to not miss cs.
Anyway, didn't mean to say it is the best build, since I always go tri in ranked games, but tiamats on poppy isn't bad either.

Whats the story behind that??? Saint got offered a sub spot on CLG cuz Kobe24 had been playing less and less. Doublelift actually got picked up at the same time. Saint took it cuz you really cant decline an invite to TSM- itd be like being offered a full scholarship to go to stanford and then choosing to go to your local community college.
Then Kobe REALLY stopped playing, saint became the full time jungler, everyone on CLG realized double was brain dead (this was back when he only played blitz) so they never played him. He left to join EG before landing on curse and learning how to play AD carry, even if he is still brain dead.
Although I would go so far as to say that SV is the only person who Regi actually respects in this game. Whenever they play/q together Saint is able to control regi, something I have never seen anyone else do (I mean just look at TSM X( )

That's one of the main reasons that CDE did so great. Regi had respect for his jungler.

Good blog -I've played a lot of random games and so I'm on the same page as you with the card gaming analogy. Seeing the randomness as part of the game is helpful, particularly after playing Starcraft.
However, I'm not totally sure about the example at the end of the player making the same 'correct play' 9 times in a row, and then doing it the 10th. The difference with LOL is that the right play depends on your team mates. For example, something that often happens in my games is that there is farm available in one or two of the lanes, no pressing objectives, and I want to go farm. I know it's the best play. However, my team decides they'd rather mess around and go looking for a team fight. Suddenly my 'optimal' play is now a mistake, because my team will (stupidly) engage 4vs5, and lose. Other games this doesn't happen, and so I can go farm peacefully, and it's the right play. But the game when I've got an aggressive team, staying with them all the time is much more likely to result in a win.
The reverse of this is initiating when you catch someone out of position, with the expectation that your team will rapidly respond to your pinging. In fact, they delay precious seconds doing god knows what, and you die. You know with perfect play that engage was right, but actually you'd have been better not doing it. So maybe the first time (in that specific game) you die and curse. But if you do the same thing, in the same game again, then you kind of have it coming.
Essentially what I'm trying to say is that because you have team mates, even the optimal plays aren't always optimal, and it's important to see that.
