I think there are reasons to pick both. I think Leona has better burst (and perhaps CC in general), but especially at level 2, Ali is far more consistent. When you are trying to burst at a specific level (2 in this case), being able to hit your CC every time is a really important, which Ali lets you do. Also, Flash + Q -> E is also a very deadly option that you have with Ali that isn't there with Leona (especially post-6 when paired with Trist's R for double knock back).

What a surprise. Nocturne didn't help tho, trying to fight them only to give a second kill to Shyv. I came back to lane with philo, she came back with a madred's on top of her boots. QQ thread that way------------------------------->
That was not a QQ, just a statement. I expected things to go badly if only considering a Rammus jungling, just wanted to share some input (even obvious like here) since people generally ask questions about the new champ. Fought my first Shen top in the next game, as Olaf. Holy sh- the bastard's so strong. Perhaps I did stuff wrong maxing Q over E, but he'd just heal off my harass and harass me everytime he tought he'd be safe too. He can shrug off minions so well when engaging you in the middle of two waves, too. This one built really wrongly (had boots+HoG+warmogs at 18 minutes, so he took the next logical step and built... Randuin's. What.) so I couldn't taste his midgame power, but that harass. I'd need to try Galio/Ryze (not sure about Swain, Shen has almost free sustain and a shield to block DoTs), or perhaps Irelia with MR quints...

It sounded like QQ to me too. Dunno why it bothers me :/
|
I wouldn't see the point of QQing when you get into a losing match-up against someone who (should) knows his champ better than you know yours, and predictably lose the lane. Stuff happens.

Cuz they do. Unless you have 4k health.
They don't suck, negatron items just aren't cost effective.
Wits end, Aegis, Merc treads, GA. At least 3 of these should always be in a bruisers build. you shouldn't ever find yourself below 150 MR....

I must build Irelia wrong then. I will get WE and Merc treads, but I don't get either of those items.
Anyway, who is excited for all the fail Kassadins+Talons?

Every single time I see one they go 3-0 in lane then jump in the middle of every single teamfight and die immediately for the rest of the game. Then the team is screwed because every teamfight ends up 4v5.

Then you're only playing with people who are bad. If an assassin just jumps into the middle of teamfights of course they're going to die. Talon plays just like Akali or Kassadin, you sit on the outskirts and wait for an opportunity to jump in and insta-gib a carry or you pick people off before the teamfight even starts. If Talon, Akali, or Kassadin is just jumping into the middle of a big 5v5 teamfight they're playing the champion incredibly wrong.

low elo talon is ezpz you rambo in then ult away because no one uses oracles, in the confusion your team can clear up. talon real stronk against idiots.

I had one who had a very strong back and broad shoulders a few days ago. Got an early kill off a gank and snowballed from there. Would instaclear a wave with rake and then take his/enemy wraiths/counterjungle/gank top/gank bottom. Was something like 4/0/3 by 10 minutes even though bot lane was feeding, and picked fights very well. He ended the game with double BT ghostblade and some other stuff I can't recall.
I don't think I will ever come close to owning every single champion =/. I know people who do have every champion, but by and large they bought some of the 6300's when they went on sale with RP. By IP cost I am ~1/5th of the way to owning every champion T.T Farming IP

Assuming you were super ahead or something. I can only think of malphite, that too if youre super fed. Not sure if the tiamat procs on the aoe of his melee. Havent done the math but I think stat wise it is a pretty decent item, even excluding the aoe component. The real problem is the combination of stats. Most champs looking for a cost effective source of midgame damage (usually bruisers) also want defense, making items like wriggles and phage quite popular. Tiamat is only good on champs who want tje damage but dont need the defense and also dont need arpen (or else you just get bruta). Put all that together and I have found a single champ where it actually is pretty good: poppy. Tiamat has a gold efficiency of ~1.4 if you count the regen for the full cost. That's bad considering the price range, no item to build it into, and the weak combination of stats. It's not good on Poppy, as it has no burst potential. Sheen + Philo is pretty much straight up better on her, and if you already have those, Trinity Force is the better choice. Didn't mean that it was the correct build, just that she is the only champ it makes sense on. while I also build philo sheen, it does mean that you have absolutely no ability to push a lane, meaning most top lanrrs can push a wave then help their team with objectives while sheen poppy is taking forever just to not miss cs. Anyway, didn't mean to say it is the best build, since I always go tri in ranked games, but tiamats on poppy isn't bad either.
I've actually done a few games as tiamat poppy. I was like, this is perfect, it'll be just like battlefury! I'm gonna be all dota and buy items that help me farm and hard carry late game, rrrrrrawh.
I try a lot of weird shit but I don't have that syndrome where I don't let it go if it isn't good. It wasn't worth the money, that's that.
I also come from a mtg background and I was pretty surprised this kind of thinking (the whole 'acknowledging how bad you really are' and 'not being results oriented' thing you get pounded into you from day one) isn't basic to other games. To me, that's how you learn about playing a game well, there simply isn't any other process.

You don't really need to own every champion; just gotta make sure you have 2-3 solid picks for each role + any extfras you really enjoy playing/want to try and be real good with. I have about 70/90 or whatever it is right now and it's taken me a year and a half to get this far including decent rune sets. If I don't buy any champs with RP (which I may have once or twice when they went on sale) I will never catch up at this point because I only have 3x 3150, 2x 4800 left and the rest are all 6300.

I own every champion, I end up never playing some of them. I also have 20k IP in the bank, every rune/runepage I need and then some. Playing since beta and the semi regular RP purchase ftw.
|
I only own 43 champions right now, there's no way in hell am I ever going to be able to afford every champion, especially if riot keeps only releasing 6.3k ip.
not to mention I only like 4~5 6.3k champs, So at where I'm at I still have 3-4 1.35k champs left to purchase, 5-6 3.6 champs, and the rest are 6.3k and 4.8k champs. I'm probably gunna start RP purchasing more, when they're on sale.
|
Owning every champion is pretty pointless imo. You'll probably settle on one or two roles that you enjoy playing in LoL and it makes a lot more sense to just fill out those roles while having 2-3 champions who you feel comfortable on in the roles you don't normally play. For me, I own like six or seven AP carries that I'm confident with and I own every AD carry except for Vayne/Urgot. On the flip side I only have a handful of top laners, junglers, and supports but I typically shy away from those roles (with the exception of jungler which I do play kind of frequently).
|
Having too many champions is bad. Too many possibilities=playing new champ every game. Then how do you learn a specific champion/role. But playing diff champs every game is fun.
