Riven, Trynd, Trundle, Udyr should work, too.
to nitpick you definitely don't want to take trundle against irelia. he won't lose the lane but he has 0% chance to kill her if they are equally skilled players without heavy jungle intervention (and for what champ is that not also true) and even though farmed trundle is good, he's not even in the same league as irelia. also even though udyr is a go-to champ that beats a lot of top lanes, irelia is quite strong against him. i would not pick udyr against irelia ever if i could avoid it. Trundle lets you instagib irelia tho, or anybody else. All that means is that tanks can't be as brave against trundle, nothing to do with irelia. Ehh, it has to do with Irelia (and also Udyr, Cho'gath, etc.) because her survivability items are primarily resist-based. Trundle primarily punishes tanks whose kits make their itemization favor resists over HP, because the resist steal is percentage-based while the health steal is flat. As such Warmogs-based tanks are much stronger against Trundle. Using a Trundle ulti on a tank with 200/200 armor/MR and 2000 HP is huge. Using a Trundle ulti on a tank with 70/70 armor/MR and 4000 HP is much less impactful. trundle's ult is one of the most underwhelming in the game because it can't do anything by itself. you can ult irelia but you can't hold her in place long enough to kill her because of her passive jackdino just likes to argue for the sake of arguing, it's not even worth it to defend such a flawed view Maybe I'm missing something here, but what Ult does things by itself? A Galio ult won't do much if none of your teammates follow up. I mean, yeah, it's a less obvious or fancy ultimate, but it can change the tides of a teamfight for sure. You just have to make sure you're on the same page as your team, and writing a sentence or two before a teamfight might ensure just that. jackdino's initial and flawed argument as to why trundle was a counterpick to irelia is that "trundle ult lets you instagib irelia or anyone else" which is blatantly incorrect. ESPECIALLY against irelia. you need CC to lock down someone while they have their resistances lowered - trundle can't do it by himself. but even WITH a team, you can't lock down irelia period - trundle is virtually ineffective against her at all stages in the game Ah okay, that makes sense. And yeah, obviously most AP ults do something for themselves, dunno what I was thinking there. Really dumb comment by me. Anyway, concerning the Trundle vs. Irelia debate... I don't know. If the comp fits him (read: has lots of poke), he's a real beast. You can debate he needs no farm to be as effective, but personally, I consider a farmed Trundle equally scary as a farmed Irelia. Both have innate CC reduction, both their ultimates will heal them, I'd argue Trundle's is a lot better in teamfights and while Irelia might be ahead in damage output, Trundle's pillar becomes more useful than her stun once it's off CD again and his AD reduction is not too shabby either. I'm not even saying he's better, because obviously, a farmed Irelia is scary as shit. But I think Trundle's up there.

You can ult a tank and he'll take more damage, but odds are if you blow everything on him you're still going to lose the fight. Moreover, it doesn't change the fact that his ult just sets up for something else, but doesn't do anything on its own (unless you ult something running away at like 50 hp...)

Is there any way for Kayle to be viable in the current meta? I have been trying her solotop in a few games, but I haven't played enough recently to really gauge if she is good or not.

i think she would be really interesting bot lane as a complement to a zero sustain, high burst support like leona or blitzcrank, and can basically function as a high-utility pseudo ranged dps.
i also hear whisperings of jungle kayle, but i think certain people on this forum might get upset if ppl found out about it and it became popular, lol

SV does jungle kayle occasionally. Not sure if hes trolling/drunk though when he does it.

How do we feel about Ionic Spark? I've always felt like Phantom Dancer was the best attack speed item, but I've been buying IS today and I like it for a number of reasons:
1) champions with built in mobility, are also the ones I don't usually build crit on, so many PD stats are somewhat wasted.
2) these champs also tend to be somewhat tanky, so the health from IS is always nice.
3) I think the passive is really fun. It might now be game breaking but it's just fun to watch chain lightning bounce around. I built it on Kennen today purely for the lols.
What do you guys think? I've gotten it after Boots/Randuins/Reverie on Rammus and it felt good. I've also gotten it on Amumu and Shy but didn't like it AS much, although its still fun.

i like ionic on warwick, no one else works nicely with his ult and gives him some buffer HP so he doesn't instadie in fights, and lets him be a pushing threat beyond just structures. he can actually kill minions with it!

She just still suffers from the same "well wtf am I supposed to get on her cuz no matter what I buy I am still going to be mostly useless," she has in lane.

Jungle Kayle isn't entirely troll. She clears quickly with attack speed runes and sustains well. Her ganks are decent, but not spectacular. Lategame her ult is extraordinary if you can time it well.
She works best in a team comp where there's a very high priority kill target on your team, particularly if they're a suicide style champion (e.g. Tryndamere, Karthus). While the enemy team ineffectually focuses on their kill target, Kayle and your ranged AD murder everything.

I've been jungling kayle. Have maybe 20 games with her. I feel like she's fine in solo queue, I just don't play her well enough to get significantly over 50% win rate. Gonna be jungling twitch next. I think I figured out how to make him work (lifesteal) but I really don't want anyone copying me. So don't do it gais! Uhm... it doesn't work at all. Forget I said anything... and don't try it. It's a stupid idea. *shifty eyes*

I've been wanting to do some sort of proc build on TF, like AS + AP with ionic spark, malady, maybe deathcap/lich bane. Any idea how viable this is?

What I came to realize about Ionic on Warwick is that its basically a GP5 Item, because it greatly increases the amount of assists you get in any teamfight.

Shouldn't you get all the assists anyway if you use your W?

I've jungled Kayle quite a bit and i think she's honestly total shit as a jungler, her range is just too damn small, gank potential basically nonexistant. You end up squishy if you try to get your clear speed any good and just get blown up in fights because of the tiny range. Late game the ult shield becomes really crazy good, but she's just a bad pick for jungle.
Clears way slower than Shyvanna and with way less gank and teamfight potential if you're going for AOE and fast clears.
If you think about her kit really she's just a crappy rearranged version of nocturne

God why does everyone turn into a retard when they see that they have a healing support. "Derp you heal so I will take 1203023 damage for nothing".

On the topic of WW and IS. Does it proc from attacks during his ult? If so thats another guaranteed 115dmg to his target and 3 others.

It does, if you stack it to 3 before you ult you can squeeze 2 procs out of it too.
