If she's maxing Q first for farming, then just never get hit by it. She'll only have W to attack you with. Land your combo EQW as often as you can. Call for your team when she sweep a creep wave with Q and then disappears.

Combo was literally impossible to land she had like 450movement speed. Hate to be that guy but my jungle wasn't really helping me out much while their's was ganking me like mad. Edit: In retrospect I think m axing e first is the way to go in future.

That's because a Janna lane is extremely hard to gank effectively, while a Brand lane is comparative easy to. Janna has high movespeed, a shield, two on-demand defensive CCs, and paths through creeps passively. Plus, if she feels she's at risk, she can literally Q the creep wave from tower and not expose herself to any risk. Brand has conditional CC which can't hit both the laner and the jungler, and no escapes. It's completely expected for their jungler to want to gank you because you're likely to be an easy kill, and likewise for your jungler to ditch you because it's likely to be a waste of time. On January 21 2012 09:54 Sponge75 wrote: Edit: In retrospect I think m axing e first is the way to go in future. Not having high ranks of W to be able to clear waves yourself is a sure-fire way to lose your tower fast. On January 21 2012 10:08 Craton wrote: Usually you just end up aoe farming your lane and not doing much actual fighting. This. Janna doesn't become an enormous damage threat midgame and lategame the way Brand does, so the onus isn't on you to kill her or stop her farm. The burden is on HER to take your tower or abuse the map control she gains from being able to shove the lane and leave. Farm-fests favor the hero that gets more out of farm. Trying to go overly-aggressive in a situation where you're already getting free-farm and out-scale the other guy's free farm creates opportunities for you to get counter-killed and lose the lane.

If the creep wave was pushed to your tower like mad how were you ganked? That doesn't work. You were probably being over aggressive

Thanks for the advice bros, I did try to farm war her but was coming up short on mana because we had our blue's stolen but i'll remember that in future, I knew Brand > Janna later but it was just the matter of getting there.

My game knowledge and skill should be decent enough for entry level ranked, I just want to know what to expect. What roles should I expect to play? Are there any trends at entry level ELO such as common bans, common picks? What should I expect from my team? Should I expect them to call mias, level 1 invasions, and follow the current meta? Champs I know how to play: Anivia, Fiddlesticks, Janna, Karma, Lee Sin, Nasus, Rammus, Singed, Skarner, Sona, Twitch, Urgot, Vayne, Xerath, Yorick sound good? though I expect that no amount of advice will prepare me to deal with the trolls and retards in the game. better just man up

Keep an eye on the minimap. Level 1 invasions are rare at entry/low elo.

Honestly, I played tons of Kayle before she was changed, and she was pretty op. New Kayle, despite people crying about her, is actually strong as well. Reidan has an 80% win rate jungling her at 2k ELO currently. I tried his build, and honestly, there is no way that Kayle is not strong, or not viable. It's just one of those Vlad/Shaco things, people cry about champions not even because they're weak, but because they aren't as broken as before. Honestly, that Vlad QQing was so annoying, he was already fucking strong before they just recently changed him this patch. It's just that he wasn't so unfair that you didn't need skill to win with him.

Good luck getting mid though, if you don't call it first you will generally get stuck with jungle or bot lane. It gets better once you leave the 1200 area though. Never expect mias. From anyone. Even at high Elo. People usually follow the meta, although sometimes someone who can't play support will want to do a kill lane bot. If they know what they're doing it can work quite well. Level 1 invasions happen once in a whole, but not that often. Generally you're pretty safe taking small golems if you want. As long as you can play your main champs competently and have at least one for each role, you won't have a problem.

On a separate note, for my own amusement I once theory crafted a champion design which ended up being an angel. Unfortunately, it ended up having a skill ceiling far higher than Riot would probably approve and at max potential would probably be insanely broken. *sigh* On January 21 2012 11:33 tobi9999 wrote: It's just one of those Vlad/Shaco things, people cry about champions not even because they're weak, but because they aren't as broken as before. It's just that he wasn't so unfair that you didn't need skill to win with him. This is actually a big problem in design theory. What people say they want, and what they actually want are two very different things. I will give two LoL examples: 1) Sona Adjustments Claim: "We want champs that require you to think to be effective. It shows skills!" Change: Auto-attacks charge up different effects based on skills used. Result: "This is too hard. I just want to brainlessly spam QWE! I'm not going to bother about thinking about charging up a W and then forcing a trade with a damage reduction debuff or charge up E for a gank!" 2) Interesting and unique champion design Claim: "We want something that truly thinks out of the box and allows players to show their skill!" Creation: Leona, Karma, Orianna, Viktor, etc. Result: "This champions isn't QWER faceroll! 1200 range(! imeanwtfsrslythisthing) AoE stun and passive that sets up kill lanes and burst isn't good enough! I can't Atmogs! I base stats higher than Galio aren't good enough! Etc."
