Wriggle's is an early/midgame dead-end item. As such, it has a high cost efficiency but you might have to sell it later on. IE is a lategame item. Its strength is multiplicative scaling with other items. IE only becomes really strong once you spend like 8k. Phantom Dancer isn't really important for this DPS calculation. You probably could replace it with 5-10 different items and get similar results. It provides movespeed, though, and that's the main reason for choosing PD over another item. Wriggle's+PD is a build you use if you want a strong midgame and high mobility - in other words a build that is suited very well for jungle invasion. IE builds are best if you expect a rather passive early/midgame.

I'd like to see 5-10 items with similar DPS than phantom dancer at least after a decent amount of AD.

Having a DotA background, I used to type MIA a lot back when I starte playing League, but I got annoyed of explaining it really quickly. Since I stopped using it, I think I've seen it about 2 times within the span of about 800 games.

So it's really really harsh :3 someone should confirm that tho ;d I did not actually test it, but I played a lot of Nunu back in the days, and I feel like it's: Low base damage - linear slow damage inrease over the 3 seconds - massive damageboost to max damage if you finish channeling. Massive as in, I think you can only get to ~half the damage by 2.5 seconds. On the other hand, it also does a bit of damage if it's interrupted instantly, so it's a weird scaling. Could be wrong, but that's how it feels like.

Sorry, more serious response: the whole discussion was about how Europeans tend to use SS (for miSSing) instead of MIA, mainly because it's easier/faster/more intuitive to type.

There's nothing wrong with storm butting in sounding surprised and saying that where he is MIA is used. He obviously understood that the discussion was mostly about EU and his post hardly even changes the subject.

I don't think Riot actually had any of these thoughts in mind when they made the items / math or it isn't true.

MIA is actually used in *some* context outside of video games to mean the same words that it does in game, I've never heard of someone saying that a soldier or my car keys were SS. When people said "call MIA" and such I knew instantly what it stood for and what it meant, I can only wildly assume it's less obvious over in EU because many of them aren't first language English speakers or something. Ive never said my carkeys were MIA, but I have said they were missing. If anything SS is shorter and on the same part of the keyboard. MIA is a usa kinda thing, europeans dont really use it. If you go on EU servers, people know what ss means, hardly anyone pays attention to mia. Its the other way round on US servers. Its all good ![]() ![]()

Only a small percentage of the European population speaks well enough to know the implications of "missing in action". So you will have to learn what ss and mia mean regardless. Hence, the easier to use version is the better one. For Americans it might be easier to use mia because people know what it means instinctively and don't have to learn ss. So it doesn't really matter what you say.

Just about every item has its uses. Slot efficiency has nothing to do with how good/bad an item is.

on topic: i only write ss if i have no clue where my lane opponent is. if he went to base i write nothing, if he goes to another lane i'll ping three times in the direction he's going. i just wish there would be more pings. like an attack ping, a retreat ping, a movement ping and maybe something like a push ping. I've heard DotA2 has a good system...

Recently I started reading up some of the hero and item descriptions in DOTA wiki cuz I got interested in the game from previews. From my POV (a guy who's only moba experience is LoL) everything seemed imba and broken. I was constantly asking myself - what a nightmare would it be to balance this stuff. Stuff in LoL seems really tame compared to that. That said, most of the stuff in there - like the abilities of heroes and stuff looked really creative and unique to me. I also liked that there were cool passive and active effects on many of the items. @doxa I read somewhere that you can draw stuff on the map in DOTA 2.
