Your baseline attack damage is like 70 at that level. Baseline armor to expect from someone is like 20-30, which is 20ish % damage reduction (so you're doing like 55-60 damage a hit). If he has 70 armor, that's 40% damage reduction, which means you'd do about 40 damage a hit. So yes, 15 true damage almost exactly offsets the reduced damage AA damage from high armor.
amumu with the described setup has 82 armor
edit: plus 3.5 physical dmg reduction from e + masteries
actually 2% dodge wont exactly do a whole lot

Still not a big deal when dealing with low level AA damage.
Amumu fucks over lots of other melee autoattackers because in addition to high armor, he has the stacked flat AA damage reduction of defensive masteries + E passive (which IS significant at low levels, especially since they apply AFTER armor)--but Irelia's true damage kicks in by the time that gets to really be significant.

Irelia is far too weak to fight amumu through creep aggro before AT LEAST level 5, amumu wins easy. The beauty of Irelia though is that you can build resists to outscale their damage and if they build resist you do true damage anyway.
Even if you could outdamage amumu E and W with your W up creeps do far more damage to you, especially if you don't have 21 defense.
Irelia players should never feel pressured in playing agressive early on because you're such a solid champ you don't need to do anything but farm and if they make mistakes you're great at punishing them.
|
Thats just it, i dont see why you'd actively engage in bad trades when 2 of amumus skills are aoe (= pushing lane) and you can then just sit and farm.
|
Similar to rumble, actually.

somehow i ended up thinking some1 was arguing that irelia would somehow win a 1v1 engagement
edit: as far as food for thought goes tho, i actually think given both champs can freefarm, its a tossup as to who is scarier late game
|
I think irelia with wits end and level 9 would destroy amumu. Can simply save your Q to get away once your W is down and just heal up again. Haven't tested it though. Amumu has so real sustain so even with philo it shouldn't be enough to outsustain an irelia.

irelia sucks top currently anyway, way too many really strong 1-6 chars that demolish her top. 0 point of playing her atm
unless you have a jungler that just camps your lane 24/7 giving the other team a lot of dragon control and free aggression over other lanes.

Truth, Irelia much stronger mid with an MRes page. AP can't do shit

Feel like xerath turned out abit weak in the burst department unless he hits really good with his abilities. Good harassment before and after teamfights though and decent farmer I guess.
Seems like a pretty repetative champion though, just spweing lightning over and over again oh well, haven`t played him yet, just watched some streams, seemed boring.

?
Don't believe many laners destroy an appropriately runed irelia in lane.
Like most APs can't knock her out of lane with full MR, and no bruisers can really hurt irelia a lot with armour page.
If there's a problem with Irelia its just AP's are so dominant and APs or AP tanks (galio, cho) are coming into fashion for top with AP mid.

Brand doesn't do crap if he misses Q or W, Anivia's in the same boat, and so is Morg. Xer does ok damage when hitting sometimes, and pretty damn good damage if you stun and land 3 Rs in a row. Not the highest burst potential, but not bad.

Is the draft order really random? Because I am always 1 or 3 and once in a while 3 :[

Fuck solo queue bad players I get it, I'm in 1300 elo so I probably suck but why do people pick tryn and then constantly hit their ult at 3 Quarter health left.... Like don't you learn the fucking champ just a bit before you play them in ranked. Like fuck off please.
TBH, because this describes abput 90% of people at 1300, I don't have any issues learning a new champ there. Better than learning in unranked, where you can just stack damage stats and kill everyone, regardless of the hero.

Getting dodged 2-3 times in normals is a record low.

Getting dodged 2-3 times in normals is a record low. It happens less when you go as 5, because you'll only queue into other premades, who are less likely to dodge each other.

I've heard it's based on ELO, but I think that's a myth. Our first picks at times are waaay too stupid to be higher ELO than me and my queue-mates.

Every time you get dodged it will be the same order, but if you play again it'll be a different order so it is random to some extent. If there is some sort of algorithm it's set in stone after you Q.

It's definitely not based on ELO because I can Q with the same group of three multiple times in the same night and the person who gets captain will change every game. One of the people I play with isn't level 30 yet and he gets captain just as often as the other two of us so I don't think it can be based on ELO or level.
