Were they wrong for acting like douchebags? Yes. Did you make the situation any better by purposely throwing the game? No. Did you make the whole situation worse? Yes, because there were 2 other people on your team who not only had to put up with 2 douchebags calling you names, but now a third person (you) who purposely loses the game for them. And they did nothing wrong! The two douchebags shouldn't have acted that way towards you, but from now on I highly recommend just reporting them, muting them, and then just waiting for 5 minutes after the game ends so that it's unlikely that you get paired with them again. It's the risk you take by playing a MOBA/ team game.

So I'm left alone on a lane at low level (which is already a red flag) because the tank ignorantly decided to switch lanes. I then get ganked 3v1 and die because Morales has no escape. I call out the tank politely and ask why, then it turns into a flamefest where it's like "fucking noob uninstall" "why you didn't heal me fucking noob" from a guy on the other side of the map who got killed after me, and then it just escalated from there. I didn't throw the game, but it was a loss anyway because nobody was working together, but it was a bunch of crying manchildren who ran in solo like Rambo, got themselves killed and decided to blame their own team. I do issue lots of reports but I swear that Blizzard just ignores them. In all the time I've played Heroes, I haven't seen a SINGLE muted player and I've often played about 5 to 10 games of QM A DAY. On the average day, I probably issue about 10 Abusive Chat reports. And due to these people, I'm stuck eternally in Silver MMR in QM and Bronze MMR in HL. It's infuriating because I KNOW for a fact that I will never be good at this game because these guys hold me back. But what else can I say, elo hell exists, ladies and gentlemen!

I think there is an option for that. And no there is no 'elo hell'. Forget that thought it's only holding you back.

It's infuriating because I KNOW for a fact that I will never be good at this game because these guys hold me back. But what else can I say, elo hell exists, ladies and gentlemen! To be honest, at your level, there are lots of things you can do to improve before complaining about ELO hell. I started playing the game regularly at the same time as a friend of mine, we still have similar total games, yet he is at bronze MMR, often sub 1000 and I am around 3000 diamond. Is that due to luck? ELO hell? I think not. Replays are good, incidentally. You can see what you can do better with a fresh pair of eyes, and we can help you with specifics. Firstly, if you're a support, stick with someone. Especially as Morales. Her laning is so terrible losing soak isn't AS bad as not being with your team and them dying as a result. Your tank rotates? Go with him, If you go together, force an enemy out of lane, maybe get a kill - guess what, you deny them the soak you are trying to get anyway, and probably more xp to boot. Yes, someone should be in each lane - don't take it upon yourself unless necessary if you are not appropriate for it. Ping, say "someone bot", etc. Normally, people will respond to that. You getting 3 man rotated on, well, your team can and should ping danger/warning etc if they see it - but you should still be aware. Look at the minimap. If it's early game and people are in lanes, assess who is where - do you not see every enemy hero on the map? Are your teammates pushing or being defensive? If you don't see them and your teammates are seemingly alone in lane, your opponents are either doing a camp (obviously impossible before 2:00), playing defensive/backing, or coming for your ass. Consequently, get yourself back, play safe, and look at the minimap. You should try to have one eye on it at all times. You can mount up and stay just in range of minions dying to get the xp without physically attacking them. Stay away from bushes etc. Being on your mount means you are far less likely to get jumped on successfully. Other than that, let their lane push towards you, so you can safely kill minions at your gate. You lose ammo, but so what? Nothing is worth dying for. Psychology plays a big role. If people feel happy and confident, they are more likely to play better. Frustrated, angry or sad people don't play as well. Yes, sometimes your team will suck, and it's awful but it happens. You can always do something yourself to improve. I find being cheerful and positive and minimising aggression at all times (as hard as that can be) leads to much better experiences. Even if a teammate fucks up, I might perhaps be like "valla pls ;;" or "noo pls stay behind me" etc, rather than calling them out directly - even 'politely'. If you get into an argument, get out of it. Mute them if you want, or simply don't respond. If you find this impossible, wait until the end of the game to yell back. It's never over until your core dies, comebacks are always possible, and typing is only making losing more likely. Incidentally, LoL is 100x worse because of how much more significant a death in the early game is. Some people have simply migrated the attitude and don't realise that Heroes is way less snowbally than LoL or Dota, the kinda people that call 'gg' if the first objective is lost etc. I always ignore these people until right at the end - few things are more satisfying than winning such a game and saying "it's never over until it's over ".If you really don't want to deal with people, just turn off allied chat. You will perhaps lose a few vital pieces of information via chat, but hey, it will help you improve on your map awareness and positioning etc, which are the #1 biggest flaws in play when you first start out.

The point of this thread is to blow off some steam and find some solace in other people's ladder misery. Let's try to avoid lecturing people about how wrong they are and focus on finding ways to relate to their frustration. This is more or less a judgment-free zone .

It's infuriating because I KNOW for a fact that I will never be good at this game because these guys hold me back. But what else can I say, elo hell exists, ladies and gentlemen! While there are definitely toxic people, I found that talking to the team from the start is the best way to avoid them. I was in a similar situation where I followed someone to the top lane as Li Li and suddenly they moved away and left me alone at the top and I didn't want to leave the lane since then we'd lose XP. I politely asked for someone to help me out, mentioning that a healer solo lane isn't too effective, and a team mate switched lanes with me so I could be in a duo lane. This was done as soon as I noticed that no one came to lane with me, not after I was already in trouble, so there was no pressure on anyone. Of course I was angry that people were stupid enough to leave me in a solo lane to begin with, but that is something best left unspoken. We eventually won the match, as far as I remember. Most of the toxicity can be prevented by being positive before they start to be negative. I get my fair share of "Why didn't you heal me?" or "Why did you not go in (into the 2v5) with us?". My response to that is usually phrased as nice and honest as possible, e.g. "Sorry, you were too far forward and I got zoned out by X" or "X was flanking us, I couldn't engage without dying instantly". Yes, there are toxic people that will be toxic no matter what, but that is what the report and mute buttons are for and I use them fairly frequently myself, but overall I think most games are still fairly positive. ELO hell exists in a way, but it's always just a bit below your actual skill level - at the level where you are not good enough to carry, but a little bit better than others you play with. You will get out of it once you become good enough to carry, not just good enough to not face check into the whole enemy team 20s into the match. Making the leap in skill from "better than the teammates" to "good enough to carry" is the hard part about leaving ELO hell. Once you become good enough to carry, ELO hell will rise to just below your new skill level, eventually all the way to rank 1 where the bottom of rank 1 will be the last ELO hell to get out of. I beg Nova to change, he won't. My friend gets Tyrande (we only realized after this game she's bad with Cho Gall) and me Murky because I'm good with him and he good do good in this team. I beg them to not go Cho Gall + Nova as it's an automatic loss. They do it, those 3 blaming me all game and after game because Murky was a troll pick ? It's sad you can't report people for being total asses and for drafting like a guy who installed the game two days ago (they were rank 3, 5 and 5). The game was lost in draft as soon as the guys prepicked, 5 seconds in. GREAT. Worst of all we lost but really had room to win this, the other team really sucked, they didn't even pick any hero that counters Nova or Murky.

Funny thing happened today. French Zeratul, blabbering away in French. Stuff doesn't go that well up to around level 7 and he says "okay that's end for me" and afk's in our base. Almost immediately, we get a triple kill on them and start turning things around. He continues to afk while the other 4 of us get tributes, curse, boss etc, despite being a player down each time. Eventually he comes back and starts playing again, and we proceed to win comfortably. At the end I say that I'm still going to report him (as I had said, after pinging/asking him to play, that I would report him). Cue a torrent of abuse and him telling me I have no brain. Silly people.

lose the 5th immortal because of hurr durr 3v5 suicidal tardfucks, lose the game good stuff, good to know HL is still unplayable. Really love that HotS idea of comeback mechanics is "losing a fight in lategame means GG unless you had a 5 level lead"
