Mercenary Argent Commander Sea Giant I'm really psyched about the possibilities in the first 3 or 4 rounds, and then the Frostwolf Warlords and Sea Giant are solid midgame followups if I can avoid being AOE'd to death. I'm also a huge fan of Earthen Ring Farseer in Warlock decks. I went 9-2 with this deck. First time I've gotten to 9 wins. My first loss came from just an awful card draw that left me literally unable to play anything until turn 4, at which point retaking board control was impossible. The second loss came vs. a Mage who literally just played Frost Novas on turns 2-4, followed by Blizzard, followed by coin+Flamestrike (which combined with the blizzard damage wiped my board), and then just killed me with fireballs and pyroblasts. For a while I had around 7 minions in play and got like no attacks in the entire game. That specific spell sequence (and the fact that he took 3 frost novas, which is generally suicidal in arena but worked out for him in this case) turned out to be an autoloss for me. But aside from those two instances of horrible luck, the deck was really strong. | ||

I really regret not picking up the Sunwalkers (specifically over Coldlight Oracle, whom I thought was necessary to help with card draw since I'm so aggro but in practice just sat in my hand). Every game that I could coin out an Amani Berserker I ended up winning, but otherwise I got rolled. I KNOW I could have drafted better, but do you guys think there's any way I could have gotten a 7-9 win run given the cards I had available to me? | ||

You'll get better with experience. I would suggest watching streams from people like Trump. "Ben's Gaming Corner" on youtube really helped me a lot. TotalBiscuit's videos were pretty good for me too (you scan skip the first 15-20 he was pretty terrible in the beginning.) At least it helps you see what you should be thinking about. Other than that just play a lot, you will get better. Definitely take your time on drafting, there's no time limit, you can even leave in the middle and come back to it later. Really think about every card- what's it's value, how does it play with the other cards you've drafted, how does it fit into your mana curve... think about what are the good class cards for your class, like if your class has a lot of good 4-cost cards, give mediocre 4-costers less priority early, or give priority to a good 2 cost over a good 4 cost early. I'm no pro, but I've been steadily improving, get 5+ wins almost every time, a good portion in the 7-9 range more recently. Anyway, don't give up. You'll get better. | ||

The thought process behind Warden over Brewmaster (as well as Farseer over Ooze) was purely mana curve. At that point I already had around ten 2 mana cards, and I felt like flooding my deck with any more would be a bad idea, even if the cards were pretty good. I suppose I shouldn't do that in the future? I took the Creeper over the Knight because I thought I needed taunt. Coldlight Oracle definitely ended up being garbage; learned my lesson there. | ||

Curve is mostly used when picking between two cards of the same level. It's not worth taking bad cards for curve. | ||

Went 6-3. Amani Berserker would have been better. Probably should have taken Harvest Golem, although the Venture Co.s served me quite well. Jury's out on the tracking, I found getting the chance to wade through redundant minions to find my multishots/deadly shots/explosive trap was pretty useful. Dark Iron Dwarf would have been good. Good point about the Wolfrider, it definitely would have served me well in one of the games I lost. Was glad to have snipe and freezing trap. | ||

Auchenai Soulpriest is a pretty solid card, and you don't know how many (cheap) spells you'll even have, would take it over auctioneer 2. Both other options are probably better, not sure about thoughtsteal. I'd pick acolyte. Different story if you had soulpriest picked first, but alas. 4. Would pick panther myself. They both do about the same thing, though. I prefer panther for the mana cost but matter of preference really. nbd. 6. Would have maybe picked SWD here since you don't have removal yet. (this coice would lead to a lightspawn pick @7 btw) 8. Absolutely the right choice, what are those ??? even doing there. 17. Sunwalker probably better. You have decent enough card draw and spellpower doesn't really help you (yet) 20. Ugh. If it fit the curve (2lazy2check), cabal was probably better, but they're all good cards. 22. Geomancer better since 2 mana is easier to play before holy nova, and can if needed be played/used to kill a 3/2. dalaran stats are trash anyway. 27. Inner fire does like nothing for you. You also can't count on something fire-able to come up in the last 3 packs. Would pick the warden, even if it's a bad card too. Rest looks fine at first glance, although I'm realizing right this second how much it helps to see the curve while drafting, lol+ Show Spoiler + Probably also helps if you don't try it at 4 am but i digress. On the topic (of bragging), I went 9-0, 7-3 and 4-0 today, the 7-3 deck was pretty bad draft/luck (shaman deck that ended up way too spell-heavy and with not enough good minions) but the current one is really good and will most likely wind up at 9-0 or 9-1 tomorrow. We'll see. | ||

I usually like to run early game aggro lots of 2-3 drops but here the curve was 4-5 and I thought the deck would be tierrible. The highlights is 3 Truesilver 2 Concentration (no equality) 1 Tyrion (Got to play him twice when I was winning). I think I really need to think about cards that allow you win and win more cards (i.e. you would have won anyway). I would love to see an article about this concept. | ||
