this clip reminds me rather vividly of a scene from the simpsons; in the episode where bart is slated to inherit mr burns' fortune. burns and bart are watching an episode of "itchy and scratchy", and by the time the episode is finished, burns is laughing uncontrollably, gasping out "that cartoon mouse butchered that cat like a hog i tell you, butchered him a like a hog!". bart is pretty unsettled after witnessing this, and asks to leave.

honestly, after hearing cruise recount a tale like that, i wouldn't have blamed dave if he had asked for permission to leave his own show

edit: i know cruise is in all likelihood making this up as a funny anecdote or something, but the way he tells the story is a little strange
