And privilege has never(from all reports) had to be invoked by the White House, since the Judiciary committee was always able to work it out if privilege was a problem. The Republicans side stepped that process, telling the Democrats to just eat shit and like it. And now they are all shocked that the Democrats are punching back.

Well, when was the last time Democrats had a spine?

If someone chooses paper when playing rock/paper/scissors 400 times in a row, it is fair to be surprised when suddenly they choose rock.

Edit: Just saw it takes 67 votes to expel a member. So negative 400% chance of that happening. So not as spine-containing as I originally thought.

Edit2: If "Bring it" isn't Booker's 2020 slogan, his entire campaign staff needs to be fired.

He called the Republicans on an a threat they couldn't back up. But more importantly, Booker is signing that the Democrats are not going to play ball if the Republicans attempt to sideline them like they did in this nomination. And also signing to supporters that the Democrats can be willing to be removed from the senate to oppose this nomination and it won't matter in the end. The big money behind putting Kavanaugh on the bench is strong with the Republicans, because they are the party of big business.

Even if it doesn't prevent Kavanaugh, it helps a ton in November. Activism inspires people to vote. It is how Republicans ended up in the position they are today. Get loud, get angry, make a fuss and inspire people to care about things. It makes people vote.

The White House just handed out the NYT Opinion phone number on twitter, one week after someone was arrested for plotting to kill journalist because they are enemies of the state.

Well Bob Woodward adds legitimacy to his claims. Here is the actual letter Cohn took from the Presidents desk. Simply stunning. Hard to believe that letter was ever drafted in the first place.

I knew it was a man from out of state(LA) making threats because he went after the Boston Globe editorial section. Any true MA resident reserves that level of rage for the Boston Herald, the true trash paper of state capitol.

And the documents arrive. Our boy Brett lied under oath, saying he never received documents from stolen or illegally from staff for Democrats. Here are the documents he received.

This is what the Republicans wanted withheld. Emails labeled “spying” related to democratic Senators. Good luck to them if they confirm this guy.

If "from time to time" you mean "on a regular basis.

Someone dug up that he lied under oath about being involved with Bill Pryor's nomination, too:

Possibly Kavanaugh doesn't feel that his year is complete if he hasn't committed perjury at least once.

Bill did it and all they did was impeach him.

Also, I’ve had many a potato tier pro se defendant perjure themselves in landlord tenant cases and its really hard to prove they willingly deceived the court. We have done it, but it was a struggle. Apparently our boy Brett isn’t that far above the finest potatoes I have dealt with over the years.

Well Bob Woodward adds legitimacy to his claims. Here is the actual letter Cohn took from the Presidents desk. Simply stunning. Hard to believe that letter was ever drafted in the first place.

What? I don't even understand. To not only plan to terminate a free trade agreement with South Korea, but to foil that plan by simply removing a piece of paper. Presuming the whole thing is real, that would mean that Trump doesn't actually have a memory. If you hide something it no longer exists.

an old person with moderate dementia frequently forgetting things wouldn't be surprising at all. especially if there's a lot going on to keep track of. and sometimes the ideas were fairly half-baked in the first place, a passing whimsy one might say (really more of an angry reaction to something); so it's not that strongly something they're committed to.

I don’t think adults really lose object permanence. Trump’s mental decline seems to get exaggerated a lot, and while I agree it’s funny to joke about I would caution assigning any sort of clinical significance to these odd news stories. I mean, is Trump dumber now than he was two years ago? If he was really declining then he should just about collapse visibly under the stress of the presidency, but to me he seems just as inane as at the onset of his campaign. I’m willing to be convinced otherwise, but I think just because someone is a moron doesn’t mean he has Alzheimer, a highly specific disease which can be diagnosed and treated to an extent.
Well, now I tell you, I never seen good come o' goodness yet. Him as strikes first is my fancy; dead men don't bite; them's my views--amen, so be it.

He didn't just lie about the stolen emails, he lied about his involvement with Bill Pryors nomination. He told Congress in 2004 he had nothing to do with the nomination. Turns out some of the emails the Republicans are trying to keep hidden show that this is almost certainly a bold faced lie.

Not only should they refuse to vote on him, Dems should prepare impeachment documents to remove him from the DC Circuit court for perjury. Force the Republicans to defend his lie. God knows what other lies would be unearthed by all the hidden documents.

For more context there are 4 possible perjury areas:

I think the more accurate takeaway is that Trump doesn't organize himself.

A more plausible scenario than "he has no object permanence" is that he keeps no list of things he's working on with progress towards completion or anything like that. There is no point during his day that he checks his to-do list and wonders why he hasn't received that letter draft yet, because he doesn't keep a to-do list. He relies entirely on his memory, and once he passes a task (such as "draft me a letter to withdraw from this trade agreement") to other people, he stops thinking about it until they get back to him with the next step that involves him. If they never get back to him, or if someone intercepts their reply to him, the task never gets completed unless someone else brings it up with him again.

Not as bad as no memory, but a total lack of organization isn't a good trait for a president, either.

He also lied to Collins face about Roe being settled law. We will have to see if Collins grows a spine or if the dark money is just to strong.
