Among police that were doing their jobs rather than facilitating the attack, they went above and beyond what they should've had to do.

What I wrote makes no sense at all, but its interesting that people think it might be genuine. You must have a low opinion of me

The more I read about it, the more I think that Congress is extremely lucky no senators or congressmen/women were killed or hurt. If a handful of the terrorists had a plan, or knew the layout of the capitol building, it could've been so much worse. https://www.visitthecapitol.gov/plan-visit/us-capitol-visitor-center-map
The map of the building layout is readily available online, if they went straight for the chambers, there wasn't anywhere near enough police to stop it. The heads at the top of the command chain rolled already, but it's going to get a top-down overhaul soon enough. Congress cares far too much about their own lives to let something like this slide.

Sorry if this has been posted already, but found a pretty good video showcasing the feel of the event in a unpolished sort of way. (various on the ground clips going through the ordeal) + Show Spoiler +

Yes, watching videos from the inside made it pretty clear they weren't going to stop at shouting insults. It was a lynching mob.
|
Those cops deserve credit for delaying that mob as long as they did. There's no question it would have been a bloodbath had they not been able to evacuate in time.
|
Yes, there were some cops who acted heroically, and they should be rewarded. The more that comes out about this, the more it seems like we are exceedingly lucky that Ilhan Omar, AOC, and many other Congressmen were not murdered.

Not to mention Pence, they were chanting to hang him and they set up a fuckin' gallows to do it. It wasn't even aimed exclusively at Democrats, normal (for Republicans) Republicans were also in the crosshairs.
It makes it all the more horrifying/revolting/baffling that Republicans are doubling down on Trump.

For sure, I just can't get the imagine of a group of Trump supporters coming across Omar, specifically. They were bloodthirsty and were looking for anyone and everyone to include VP Pence, but they would've enjoyed finding some Congressmembers especially.

I would not be so quick to jump on conclusions. Things are not always what they look like. I don't know enough about managing angry mobs to tell if they were just strategically retreating from unholdable lines while trying to keep things as calm as possible, delaying the fight for reinforcements to arrive.
Investigations should bring clarity to this, but I doubt many police officers will be convicted.

We can’t blame people for being right and attribute part of the blame to them. If someone does something terrible, I don’t think we should blame someone else for saying the first person did something terrible. I don’t even attribute 1% of the blame to someone for being right. Now, I can blame someone for being an asshole while being right and blame them for that. That’s a different thing.
I did delete it mostly because it was very easy to misunderstand my post and i felt i couldnt convey what i meant properly.
There definitely is no blame to be asigned but that doesnt mean that the process described in some way contributes to increasing polarization. It somehow is inevitable. Beeing right in pointing out "the truth" sometimes in harsh ways,is correct, logical, morally justified, and even neccesary in many situations but it still contributes to making the situation worse if it results in the other side going to an even more extreme position. Its a bit of a paradox and quiet ironic because not pointing it out doesnt really make things better either. It was more like a phylosophical observation which doesnt really help nor offers any solutions and which was easy to misunderstand so i decided to delete it.

Is it just me, or did banning Trump from Twitter actually help calming everything down a bit?

So as everyone should know parler was a "free speech" web site that tried to leverage getting scans of your photo id to protect itself from legal troubles from pedos and nazis.
Well as vendors started dropping them they got hacked aparently and everything was downloaded and conveniently cross referenced with everyone's name picture and id number.
I'd expect the FBI already has this but all that data is in the public and should be made soon into a searchable database for people to dig through. Gona be a hell of backlash when everyone who posted there gets mass doxxed for what they said.
|
Apparently that is fake news.
Edit: I thought when searching it and entries from 25.11. showed up. If there is a new hack, i have not found anything regarding it with a google search, my apologies for claiming fake news.

Yes, a source for a claim like that would be nice.

Not a source, but a leading indicator.
There's a lot you'll be able to verify for yourself in there if you like running shell scripts.

Oh boy, if some of that stuff turns out to be legit, we may very well see sitting legislators get brought up on charges. What a delight that'll be, especially if that awful Boebert woman is one of them. Before the Capitol storming, she had been posturing that she will ignore DC law and carry her Glock at all times.

That thing about Lauren Boebert in that Reddit thread is absolutely shocking.
QAnon congresswoman live tweets information about Pelosi's whereabouts during the riot by first saying they were all locked in the chamber and then saying 'the speaker has been removed from the chambers' I refuse to believe she didn't know exactly what she was doing.
