hey more money means more for the future of the players and more support for the esports we love. this helps the next wave have some framework to build on. we get more money, we get better/more players and teams and we continue to to have a stronger esports presence allowing for more games to be supported, which just cycles into more money, more players and teams and supported games.
Also, I'm not entirely clear on the relationship between teamliquid the site, and teamliquid the team. I thought they were completely independent by now, but then why is this piece of advertisement a featured news story? Is teamliquid.net also sponsored? Does teamliquid.net get any of this money?

Weeell, that makes sense in my head. Staying alert when doing long gaming sessions and so on. Then again, I probably had more energy drinks than I should last few LANs, so my head probably isn't to be trusted.
I don't think this will help in the long run, anyone with a sembalance of an interest in health understands that these drinks are poison( just by tasting one you should know...) . The mainstream already has a negative view on gaming due to the unhealthy lifestyle that is a result of the gamers chosen activity.
I really like gaming however I feel like some basic health regulations need to be setup by the organisations. Whether they like it or not, top players are becoming role models and most people would not let their kids idolise people with such u healthy lifestyles.
We live in a very u healthy world at the moment :/

Can you guys please link this partnership to Nuckledu somehow or do something to f*** acknowledge that he exists??? Other than Taeja, arguably no other TL-sponsored competitor has accomplished anything close to what Nuckledu is doing right now, and it's like he doesn't exist. What is this ridiculousness???? Same thing goes for the smash players, really.

I was about to tell you to go to TeamLiquidPro for that, saying that this (teamliquid.net) is a starcraft site. But I realise now that this post, including the comments, is crosslinked between teamliquid.net and www.teamliquidpro.com... Which only raises further questions regarding the relationship between the two sites...
Hungrybox gets tons of love as the video uses plenty of his EVO win footage, plus he gets shoutout tweets and a article on TLPro from time to time. He's also a model on the storefront.
The real problem is the SF scene, namely Du has no recognition for his recent amazing achievements. If I didn't follow the SFV scene, I wouldn't know he was doing great because TLPro site also has stopped tracking player or team results like back in the SC2 Golden Days.
Gosh I wish more healthy food organizations would get involved with the Esports scene I want to see grow ... I don t recommend people to drink that stuff but o well good things come with bad sometimes!

Probably hacker culture. When you have to work late into the night debugging shitty code, coffee and energy drinks are your best friend (not really, sleep is a far better friend, and the better companies have realized that by now, but the stereotype lives on). Hackers and gamers both sit behind a computer all day, and a lot of hackers are gamers in their free time, and enjoy watching games. So it is not even about gamers, but about the audience.
Just as extreme sports are all sponsored by Red Bull. Why? Most actual extreme sporters are either extremely health conscious and drink nothing but ginseng tea (figure of speech) or total stoners, neither of which are in the slightest interested in ever opening a can of Red Bull (unless they get paid a big wad of cash to fake drink that shit). However, the peole who watch extreme sports on tv are apparently people who buy energy drinks.
As both a gamer and someone whose favourite TV channel is Off, I should apparently be their core market, but hardly touch energy drinks ever (the only function I have found for them is for long drives), but I guess I'm just not normal

Despite being owned by the same org and occasionally cross posting news, it doesn't mean we're going to be posting about Liquid successes all over the place. We're not a SF site, we barely cover Melee right now (although we'd love to do more in that regard), we're not the place to pimp Du's achievements (although there are clips in the announcement video). TLPro isn't perfect, but I'm sure they'd appreciate constructive feedback regarding this.

TLPro usually only crossposts stuff which is relevant to site in question. For instance, this impacts the SC2 players on the squad so is on TLnet, and so on. TeamLiquid.net is not sponsored.

A healthy lifestyle is determined by many things, but I'm assuming you were aiming towards the healthy diet in your post.
A healthy diet consists of a sum of total micro and macronutriënts, to cover your needs. If you eat something considered unhealthy lacking micronutrients for example, you'll just have to compensate with the rest of your daily diet.
Unhealthy meals do have their place in healthy diets. Monsters could do too. Your total daily/weekly sum has to be on point, not every meal has to be on point. That's not the idea behind a healthy diet, either.

But Monster is not just about diet, but really about the lifestyle - the whole point of energy drinks is fighting your natural sleeping schedule and creating fake "energy". That's why the thing is essentially caffeine dissolved in something disgusting. There is no health reason to ingest that much caffeine, it doesn't bring any benefits (at least not in the lavish quantities found in the typical energy drink) and the lifestyle of staying up and sleeping irregularly that it "enables" is bad for you in the long run as well - irregular sleep schedule has been repeatedly found to be a key risk factor to control if you are after longevity.

I'm not sure where or how you figured that you know exactly what I do or don't think good partners stand for. We worked on a Monster pitch as long ago as end of 2011 early 2012 and have actively worked with Red Bull for both team and website. There is no change in philosophy here. It may not be your philosophy and if you were to run your own company and it is totally fine to do it differently.

It's a fair point that me and Plexa can discuss on whether this is a good fit still today. He also responded on this subject before me, but either way this is how we have done it for the past six years for announcements that apply to the Liquid players and teams in all of these games.

Six years ago, I'm not sure TL had players in multiple Esports who were kicking ass. Nuckledu is, possibly for a brief moment in time, the winningest player in SFV and it doesn't seem that TL is doing anything to tell this story, anywhere. I think that's pretty weird.

As a long time member of the site, you keep doing you, this is your baby. People call it selling out, I call it an opportunity to invest more money into esports. The players themselves necessarily don't have to drink the energy drink all the time or ever, they just need to showcase the brand.

Do you follow the proteam on social media? TL is a community site for certain games that isn't aligned with who is on the team

I guess I personally find this fragmentation confusing, but if all it takes to fix that is to follow one handle on Twitter then that works for me.

I think it started in the late 80s, early 90s LAN culture where people poured down Coke like it was water. Coke didn't understand its audience, and was replaced by another softdrink market, that targets people fighting fatigue, which is part of gaming culture.
Never been a soft drinker myself, but I do coffee aplenty.
I remember years ago, when I asked Bulba if he ate nutritious food, and it appeared I was talking alien to him. Gaming culture has always had a unhealthy lifestyle attached to it, because everything connected to it, is; poor sleep patterns, poor eating culture(needs to be fast made), in short fast and convinient. Only in recent years people have tried to be more aware that physical wellness and strong mental capacity are closely linked, and as eSport moved from grassroots to more professional venues so did the competitive awareness. Still a long way to go, as eSport and gaming is still associated with an unhealthy lifestyle, thus are the target group of such sponsors.
Want different sponsors, project a different philosophy.
