In order to maintain some kind of respectable thread quality and to show some respect for those who lost friends in this tragedy, we're forced to enact a hard line policy for this thread. Any posts holding an opinion on who is responsible or making an accusation that is not held by neutral media will be banned. Policy is in effect from page 27 onwards.
Specifically, citing a Ukrainian or Russian source for your claims is going to get you banned. Opinions/facts/accusations arising from neutral media sources (i.e. media whose country of origin is not Ukraine, Russia or one of its puppet states) will be permitted. This policy extends to all forms of media; if a youtube video or picture has not come through a neutral media source then don't post it or you'll be banned. If you wish to discuss this policy please use this website feedback thread.

Whatever the case, this will probably be the defining moment of the entire conflict.
What makes you say that? The rebels will blame Ukrainian government, Ukrainian government will blame the rebels, and even if anyone is able to prove that it was the rebels, then what? For all intents and purposes they're just a bunch of criminals with no ties to Russia.
People seem to think a bunch of criminals can operate half a billion dollars worth of equipment that takes years of training to use and which might or might not be operational. The only side we know have BUK systems fully operational in the area are the Kiev military.
Buk missile systems can be traced from space easily with NATO/Russian satellites so we should know very soon where the missiles were fired from.
Where does it say that the system is operational? I remember Kiev saying 3 weeks ago that they rendered all systems in the anti-air base useless while they were retreating.
Of course they wouldn't say its a useless peace of junk, its a propaganda war after all.
They could literally operate this in your living room and you wouldn't change your mind, would you?
Please show me proof it is operational and had all the side systems necessary to take out a moving aircraft at 10km.
Well they claimed they shot down a cargo plane earlier today. Those fly at about that altitude. You have been sort of dancing around that report from earlier today that they removed.

I can show you proof for Rebel leaders claiming that they shot down a plane minutes before the crash happenened
yeah i dont dunno how they gonna cover that up. it would have been confusing and easier to manipulate if no post exited but the fact taht rebels claiming a shootdown right before a civilian plane gone missing is really irreversible. but then again, politics dont really care for truth.

Dont talk to zeo. It's useless. Even tho investigations would say that rebels shot that plane down. Zeo would call it just propaganda
I mean, all the things I don't agree with are propaganda created by the people who don't agree with me. Its the best way to view the world. Easy and simple.

He is an exceptional gymnast. So far today he has questioned the legitimacy of Itar-tass articles that were published during the period where he considered Itar-tass to be an exemplary news provider and stated that the rebels would be unable to operate pretty standard military equipment because they are no more sophisticated than "criminals".

I'm sorry that I asked for sources when ludicrous claims are made. You have people who laugh at RT being used as a source yet when something said in a one paragraph article fits their agenda, suddenly 'stop the presses, most reliable shit ever written'. Even in the Itar-tass article it clearly says it is unclear if the system is operational.
SAM systems are not 'pretty standard military equipment'.
