Here's a picture that's being spread around on Facebook by some of my Japanese friends: ![]() It was originally posted by a Japanese man in Beijing. Along with the picture came a caption written in Japanese. It said: There was a courageous girl today at the protest who created her own poster. In the midst of the protest, the uncultured middle-aged men jeered at her and ripped her poster to shreds, and the girl wept. I wish the Chinese and Japanese media would pick up on stories like this. This is what was written on the poster: We've experienced everything from war to earthquakes to floods. We are no longer a fascist government (tl note: the Japanese translation says fascist, but maybe the poster says communist? I don't know). Our territory is not something we should protect by bashing, breaking, or burning things. This is not our Cultural Revolution. The entire world was watching the Beijing Olympics. I beg you, please stop harming others. Please remember that our country is overflowing with love. One of my friends who shared the photo left a little message, saying: Those who are saying "politically unstable -> those people are out of their mind" are clearly mistaken. Doesn't change the situation one bit, but I thought it was an enlightening exchange between a young Chinese girl and some Japanese people who were touched by her.

Earthquake. Floods. We've made it through all that. This isn't facist. Our land was never (won / defended / earned) by hitting / breaking / burning This isn't the cultural revolution Our Olympics was seen by the whole world. Please stop hurting. I remember. Our country is filled with love. (note on the "facist" connotation: China basically has the same stereotype through WWII to cold war with allied countries that Facism is inherently evil with out understanding what it actually meant. The stereotype links Nazi Germany's actions and atrocities with Facism more so than National Socialism or the individuals in control of Germany at the time. So essentially what it's saying is that "we aren't evil")

The majority of China's population don't keep track of porn stars. Mainstream culture is still extremely skeptical of the legitimacy of pornography / prostitution as an occupation, younger populations may view pornography much more often yes, but even then they don't see it as a legitimate or integral part of life, there's a certain sense of shame and reservedness that goes with it.

Things are gonna only slow down. Major political power transition in China is coming within a month, so they need stability. Japan didn't benefit from the hostile situation, either. I hope this whole event caught more attention of the world than Kate Middleton nude photos. They've decided to ban "all illegal protests" which means any protest what so ever will be watched by armed police any ways.

It was a cheap jab at the cultural integrity of the Japanese people. Really weak example if you ask me considering Japan has made celebrities out of cannibals and whatnot.

LOL You two really read into things! It's like you selectively or purposely missed the words 'personal experience', in brackets. Ask any cbc/abc person (18+, just to be safe) who Maria Ozawa or Sora Aoi is, and they'll probably tell you their exact measurements*. There are much, much easier ways to take a jab at Japanese culture, as ShadeR has said. * They probably won't, but I'm afraid that'll be taken out of context as well so I'm writing this note to inform you that it's an exaggeration.

I don't know about the 2%, but I can guarantee you, every single male classmate of mine at SJTU(one of the most prestigious university in China) know about her. So I guess, people with higher education knows about Sora Aoi. Also, shes something like 27-28 years old, but still she has nothing to do nor can impact anything on this matter. On topic, the trend of protesting against Japan has died down a bit. I just had a chat with a Shanghainese taxi driver today, he told me protesting is pointless, and some just take this as a chance to loot goods from shops/malls. There is a restaurant at my area has but on a sign that say " Japanese and dogs are not allowed", I heard that there are alot of places that put in signs like this. But if I learnt anything from the 2005 Chinese protest against Japan, this will die down as the power transfer from Hu Jin Tao to Xi Jin Ping draws near.
