It was a joke, stop being pussies about it Wtf, were you raised by a single mom or something that instilled some weird notion that women are defenseless creatures that should be pampered? I don't understand how any guy could say this. This is a case of a 50 year old man being drugged, tied up, and his dick cut off by his wife. Joking about that isn't "better" than joking about it happening to a woman just because women might get raped more than guys. What happened to that man is the equivalent of any female being mutilated and is even far worse than rape. This guy is not just a "male", he's an individual person who underwent physical and psychological torture at the hands of his insane spouse. I'm sure he wasn't considering gender roles when he watched his dick being cut off. This thread was made because how extremely tasteless these women were on their little feminist talkshow, the same way this thread would have been made if it was a female's situation being mocked by men on CBS. But people like you will come and make light of the situation. Some guys actually care about shit like this because it IS extremely retarded to do this on national television. We are tired of America's media obviously becoming more and more feminist, from all the retarded family shows about the bumbling husband and witty, beautiful wife, all the cute little insurance commercials about the husband picking his nose while his wife negotiates smartly, etc. Women having been the "lesser gender" in the past is no excuse whatsoever for treating men the same way. There probably won't even be a repercussion to what they did but if you say "nappyheaded" about some girls your career is over.
I was not offended by this. I dont care if you cant make this joke about women but you can make it about men.
Lots of comedians have said FAR worse things, and there is nothing wrong with that. Because it's a JOKE. It's like basic humor 101. If you get offended by a joke then ignore it, dont whine about it! What i said is that i think the joke would be far more offensive had it been a women who had got her genitalia cut off. I think most people would agree to that. Even though it's not "rational" or whatever.
However, i dont mind either joke. I dont care if someone makes a joke when this happens to a woman. It'd be far more offensive, but it's still just a joke.
Who gives a shit about equality for stuff that doesnt affect anyone at all? It's just words. Equality is about jobs, rights etc. Not about whether i can make a sandwich or a he-doesnt-have-a-penis joke.
I dont get how guys can be this sensitive...

It's all about not offending people, and it has nothing to do with what is rational and what isnt. By your standards somebody could just "feel offended" by anything and all over a sudden this would be a problem. Rationality is the only way we can actually decide whether something is acceptable to joke about publicly or not. How could it be otherwise? I bet had the same woman amputated an arm of the guy, nobody would find an "at least he can still become a one-armed bandit"-joke fit for television. I don't see why this assessment should change in case of the penis. Do you?
I think any joke is fine. There is no problem. All i said was that i could see how a woman would be more offended had it been a joke about a women, and i too would agree that it would be more offensive.

+The worst offender was Sharon Osbourne. How do you not expect this from her?
+Leah Remini implied it would only be understandable to even think about it as vengeance for rape.
+Another cast member pointed out how sexist they were being.
+It's something I would expect these kinds of women to do on a talk show. I don't have the capacity to be upset over actions I consider them predisposed to do.
+It isn't the same thing as assaulting or mutilating a woman in my eyes. Men and women are different. Maybe it's some misplaced sense of chivalry, but I can't lie and say that an assault on a woman doesn't disturb me more on an instinctual level, even if in a perfectly politically correct world they should be considered one in the same. I got over the whole equal rights vs. special treatment thing when I grew up; a woman hitting a man doesn't bother me, but a man hitting a woman does; magnify the grotesqueness of the situation, and both disturb me, but there is still a small discrepancy between the two cases.
Men and women are physically, and physiologically different yet continually push for "equal treatment." Sure, men rape more women than women rape men, more men beat women than women beat men, but who's to say that were the tables turned, they'd still be the same frail, "we want equal rights" activist that they are? Doubtful.
What gets me is It's when they drop the walls and really put their personalities and moralities on display. These women are in a "position of power", their power is having a sway on the millions of spineless individuals who watch this show and gavel at every word. So, when they act as distasteful as they did, there should be repercussions, no matter the circumstances of their distastefulness. Many, many times on TV casters and reporters have been punished and chastised for their conduct and words towards a group or individual, these women should be treated no differently.

Thing is, this wasn't meant to be a joke. They bring the news and discuss the news, they don't bring the news and make jokes about it. The show puts women in a medial position, letting women run the show. If they can't control themselves long enough to not make a joke, then it's sad. Men don't make jokes about women being raped or mutilated by a man, it's DISTASTEFUL. It has nothing to do with getting offended over a joke. They ALL displayed a lack of moral standards..this man has been scared for life by a psychotic bitch, you shouldn't laugh at his demise...or anyone's demise at that.

You haven't really made an argument, you've just restated what you stated earlier and then said, "You're sensitive". It doesn't matter if he's offended by this joke, the issue that's relevant is feeling it would be offensive if it were about a women, but is not so because it's a male.
You're basically perpetuating a double standard without even attempting to rationalize it, just saying it's how you feel. There's no argument to be made here, it's just sexism and the perpetuation of a double standard.
This community is quick to find issues about discrimination against men, and tends to be almost obnoxiously vocal about it, but on the other end are imbecilic posts that are basically pure sexism without the realization of what they're perpetuating.

Equivalent would be cracking jokes about a man stabbing a woman vaginally with a knife, after tying her down and drugging her - all because she wanted to divorce him. How would that story have been portrayed by these hosts? I suspect strongly that they wouldn't even identify the exact means that the evil man assaulted the woman in question.
If you can't see how twisted that is, there's no helping you. I have no doubt that there will be a group of people for which this is true.

I'm not rationalizing it because it's not rational.
I dont see an issue with the double standard for men and women. It's not sexist just because men and women arent equal in every right.
Basically my whole argument is that it's not problem that joking about women is viewed as being more offensive. And i also agree that it is indeed more offensive. Why is it more offensive? Because i feel that way, and most people do i believe.
If more people feel offended then it's more offensive. End of story. And more people feel offended by a joke about a woman. It's not rational, but people shouldnt even be offended in the first place.

Totally disgusting. The double standards on that show are appauling too, at least one of them had the decency to point out how bad it was. Talk about equal rights for women... Well, it certainly seems that "guys" can suck at consistency at times. I don't feel offended at all by the jokes. Why would I? Nonetheless I can use my mental capacity to see that it is inappropriate. No more, no less. And I can see that there is something wrong with somebody who thinks that the fact that it was a man being mutilated makes the joke better (or less bad, or whatever). Be that person a guy or a gal. I also think it's strange that you can feel embarassed about what other "guys" do or don't do, just because you happen to be a guy as well, but then again at least this part seems to fits with your other views...

The woman who did the dick-cutting is a psycho. She mutilated her husband, and should absolutely be punished. This *particular* woman is a crazy bitch, well worth your scathing remarks. What she did is horrible.
The women who make light of it on a trashy daytime television show aimed at uneducated housewives are doing everyone a disservice. But really, Sharon Osborne? Who cares what that spoiled media darling thinks? But no, they should not be joking so much about the very cruel mutilation of another human being.
But some of the comments in this thread, "this is why all women should be called bitches," or, "woe is the plight of men in this country!", are ridiculous.

Rather sick news. The women should be sent to an insane asylum. As for The Talk joking about it, they do have some right to joke about it as they are comedians (whether you think they are funny or not). They are still pushing it tho.

Being hit in the nuts is completely different to having them cut off, that's like saying laughing at someone being shot in the head is ok because people get hit over the head in silly youtube videos all the time.
Also if Leno made cruel jokes about it then he's as bad as Sharon.

Oh I fully agree. My post is simply my own personal level of offense, in which I purposefully avoided being overly logical over something that is inescapably laced by illogical sentiments (gender comparison). There should be repercussions, and an apology.
