Women are weaker than men, and they're usually the ones victims to these sort of crimes, along with rape and so on. And i feel that it would be way worse to joke about that. Women and men dont need to have the exact same norms and standards. I'm not offended by this, but i could see why some women would be if they were talking about a woman. It's all about not offending people, and it has nothing to do with what is rational and what isnt. By your standards somebody could just "feel offended" by anything and all over a sudden this would be a problem. Rationality is the only way we can actually decide whether something is acceptable to joke about publicly or not. How could it be otherwise? I bet had the same woman amputated an arm of the guy, nobody would find an "at least he can still become a one-armed bandit"-joke fit for television. I don't see why this assessment should change in case of the penis. Do you?

However, if it had been a woman in this situation i agree that it would be a lot worse to talk about and makes jokes of. Because this actually does happen to women a lot. This was just some freak who did this, it pretty much never happens, which is why it's acceptable to joke about it. Joking about the same regarding women is way worse in my opinion. I dont see why that is so weird. Men and women shouldn't be treated 100% equally. After all, there is a difference. And in this case i dont see why men feel the need to complain. There is a difference between what you can and cant joke about, and while this is on the edge for sure, it would be worse if you joked about the same happening to a woman. I dont see why anyone even cares about this except maybe the guy who it happened to. It was a joke, stop being pussies about it ![]() Wtf, were you raised by a single mom or something that instilled some weird notion that women are defenseless creatures that should be pampered? I don't understand how any guy could say this. This is a case of a 50 year old man being drugged, tied up, and his dick cut off by his wife. Joking about that isn't "better" than joking about it happening to a woman just because women might get raped more than guys. What happened to that man is the equivalent of any female being mutilated and is even far worse than rape. This guy is not just a "male", he's an individual person who underwent physical and psychological torture at the hands of his insane spouse. I'm sure he wasn't considering gender roles when he watched his dick being cut off. This thread was made because how extremely tasteless these women were on their little feminist talkshow, the same way this thread would have been made if it was a female's situation being mocked by men on CBS. But people like you will come and make light of the situation. Some guys actually care about shit like this because it IS extremely retarded to do this on national television. We are tired of America's media obviously becoming more and more feminist, from all the retarded family shows about the bumbling husband and witty, beautiful wife, all the cute little insurance commercials about the husband picking his nose while his wife negotiates smartly, etc. Women having been the "lesser gender" in the past is no excuse whatsoever for treating men the same way. There probably won't even be a repercussion to what they did but if you say "nappyheaded" about some girls your career is over.

- I'm not offended by what these women said. +The worst offender was Sharon Osbourne. How do you not expect this from her? +Leah Remini implied it would only be understandable to even think about it as vengeance for rape. +Another cast member pointed out how sexist they were being. +It's something I would expect these kinds of women to do on a talk show. I don't have the capacity to be upset over actions I consider them predisposed to do. +It isn't the same thing as assaulting or mutilating a woman in my eyes. Men and women are different. Maybe it's some misplaced sense of chivalry, but I can't lie and say that an assault on a woman doesn't disturb me more on an instinctual level, even if in a perfectly politically correct world they should be considered one in the same. I got over the whole equal rights vs. special treatment thing when I grew up; a woman hitting a man doesn't bother me, but a man hitting a woman does; magnify the grotesqueness of the situation, and both disturb me, but there is still a small discrepancy between the two cases.

Reverse the situation. 5 dudes on a talk show. Reveal story about a man who drugged his wife, tied her up and removed her genitalia. He then proceeds to throw it in the trash disposal. It seems unfathomable to me that 5 dudes could then laugh and joke about that for 4 minutes on national television. I.e (Haha could you imagine that thing just wizzing around in there, hurr hurr it would be hysterical) Is this because of gender, or is it simply dependent on the personality of the talk show hosts that make fun of this. I just can't fathom it... What are they going to laugh about next? The Norway incident?

The problem I have with this sense of, "men and women are different so the situation has to be regarded differently" is that it creates an imbalance in the way of, women having claim to the advantages of equality but not to the disadvantages. Essentially, if you state these fundamental differences between men and women as a reasoning for events to be considered differently, I would expect you to follow some of the beliefs of decades past in regards to gender roles, but with modern feminism, that's less and less the case. If assault between genders aren't considered equal, particularly in such an extreme case, then why should other standards be maintained for equality? I don't think it's wrong at all to hold men and women to the same exact standards otherwise I feel society ends up leaning towards being matriarchal or patriarchal.

I don't believe I can type anything hear that you haven't read before. The attitude of those women on "The Talk" regarding the Catherine Kieu Becker case was absolutely disgusting. I was SHOCKED to see that. It's not hard to imagine it being harmless sexism one day to eventually warping the minds of women so that sexism is the default. Yeah, men are not exactly historically innocent of that, but that is not the point. I love feminism, insofar as the promotion of feminine rights. We deserve to be equal, but if people start laughing at the slicing off of a man's penis that's NOT equal and every now and then some woman some where might think "hey, I can get away with it in the eyes of the public". I'm not satisfied with The Talk, it seems a lot like another time when a person said hey lets go broadcast a bunch of completely wrong opinions to people who adore us. Yeah, comparing The Talk to Nuremburg is a bit far fetched... Then again, I used to think that the idea of a crowd laughing at a penis being sliced off was far fetched.

In ancient China, we had a occupation called eunuch, They were the Emperor's mistress' servants and because Emperor didn't want them fucking his women he took all their penis away. so when they go to the bathroom they use a straw. Pity for them
