I'm looking to go to bars and I know of plenty of my friends who have been tricked by the bouncers with questions they ask. My question for you is what sorts of questions should I be prepared for? Here are the ones I know already:
1. Obviously the info on the ID 2. Year I graduated from high school 3. What high school I attended 4. Capital of the state I'm "from" 5. What year in college I'm in
I appreciate any help you guys can give me!
honestly none of that information matters except for the information on your fake id and MAYBE the state capital. i can't imagine someone being a dick enough to question your HS information bc when i entered college i was 17 - i was a late birthday. my sister, however is going to be almost 19 when she enters school. assuming information about their graduation date, college year, etc is retarded and unreliable at telling a person's "real" age. it is, however, their bar so bouncers can do whatever and are allowed to deny access if im not mistaken.
in my own personal experience, they tend to turn away people with a clean id - as in it doesnt look weathered. my advice for this would be to throw it in the dirt and step on it..makeup also works (i had some girls in my dorm throw some foundation on it so it looked used).
the one worry i always had was a bouncer bending the id or peeling it. sure enough it happened when i was 20 and alas, had to wait a year to go to another bar since i couldnt justify dropping money on a new id :/

My facial hair refuses to grow in well on the sides, so if I haven't trimmed my goatee recently, I'm more likely to get carded. I get carded more if I haven't had a haircut recently as well.
Of course, I also get carded about 5x more for cigarettes than I do for alcohol...

It is not worth your time obtaining and trying to use a Fake ID in this day and age. You are just going to end up with a fine and a slice of regret.

Although, it's slightly offtopic, I'm going to say something about the drinking age difference between different countries and what I think of it. I myself am what one would call a teetotal (no alcohol whatsoever).
Here in Germany one is allowed to buy and drink in public from the age of 16 (wine, beer, etc.) or 18 (distilled, i.e. hard, stuff and mixed beverages). In private there are no restrictions, so having a beer at your fathers 40th when your 10 or something is not a problem by law. I don't think we have a problem with alcohol in Germany, so I'm fine with the regulations. In fact, I've been to England for a year and there you're allowed to buy everything starting from 18. This coincides with the time when most students get to university and are the first time in a new pretty unsupervised environment (no parents in sight). And I had the impression, that this led to drinking way more then you could or should. And taking this thread as some evidence, I'm pretty sure that a legal drinking age of 21 just leads people to trying to find ways to get to it earlier in illegal ways.

I remember a friend of mine getting owned by a bouncer who asked her what her zodiac sign is. She knew all the other info on the ID but that

In all my years of being post 21 and going to places I have never been asked a question about my ID (I didn't get a fake so I didn't have this dilemma before). Hell even when I went to Kansas for grad school (from Mi) No one said anything except to ask what part of Mi because they have a relative from there or something. It was even funny because when I go out with my fellow grad students basically none of us are from Kansas so they would get like 3-6 IDs in a row from diff states and they would just go "wtf lol" and not give it a thought.
|
Is one's horoscope/zodiac sign really something that most people know about themselves? I can't recall ever learning what mine was, and since the zodiac is wrong by a couple months anyways I can't really be bothered .
That being said, if a bouncer asked you that couldn't you just answer that you don't know? Seems more confident than sitting there looking baffled.

This. Do you know how many people are goin to lose their job when your dumbass gets drunk and gets arrested? Just get your drinks and go to sumbodys house you will have a better time.

The only time they ever did this for me in the past was basically to just relay information that is on the ID. I don't see why you are so eager to fake your way into bars though.

Pff, I would've told them off, I barely know what mine is.

Acting like you belong is the biggest part, like you've done this many times. If you seem nervous, akward, quiet, stare at the ground etc. they're going to notice.
Memorize the information on the card. If they ask you a dumb question like 'whats your horoscope', don't be an idiot and panic like this is a test you have to pass to get in, just stay calm and say "Whatever _________ (month) is." You have a valid I.D. (or what appears to be lol) and that is enough; you don't need to play 20 questions.
You guys fail when you think you have to play these stupid mind games with the bouncer. This is how they get you; they know the only ones who won't be like "WTF screw off" are the underage kids who panic. But this doesn't mean be rude, just be assertive. If a bouncer asked me for my birthday, sure I'll give it to him. But if he starts playing these dumb mind games, I'd simply say "whats the point of all this? you have my card; all the information is there".

Gave a friend of mine who was under age my ID to get into a club. He didn't even drink, just danced and messed around.
$500 fine later, this was not a wise choice.

As a former parttime bouncer the only info we were told to ask was DoB, Address and when does it expire. However most fakes are really easy to spot and if the club uses scanners you're as good as fucked. All that shit about highschools, and colleges are just to see how you react means they already don't believe you and are just fucking with you at this point.

I just use another kids spare ID i know that looks somewhat similar (not at all really, just same color hair and eyes) and it works 99% of the time. The one time i got turned down the bouncer was like "this isn't you" and then turns to my friend (who used to use the same ID before he was 21) and asks "whats this kids last name?" expecting him to say mine and not the one on the ID but he answered it perfectly since he used to use the ID. Bouncer got pissed that his ploy failed and didnt let either of us in. I have never been questioned about it at all, i've used it in detroit, chicago, and a few college campuses.

They do that a lot over here in australia, not sure if it translates to overseas but i would memorise it anyway.

I used to work in a grocery store in a college town. The way I caught most people was the date of issue/expiration date/birthdate not jiving.
From what I remember it will expire on their 25th birthday, so if that's off you might want to consider not using it. I don't know why you can't just wait though.
Drinking is fun when you're 17

I'm probably in the minority, but I've never understood what the rush is. I've never been into a bar, much less drank much of anything other than an occasional beer (and that was last summer) until just this last semester (spring semester, im 23), and it really didn't seem all that exciting, I dunno. It seemed no different than going out with people at a different location. I've never been asked funny questions, i just take it out of my wallet, hand it to them, and life goes on.
I already fairly "cheap" when it comes to money... wasting money on alcohol, especially in a bar, just doesn't seem to bring much value that fun goodies and toys do (games, gadgets, computers, etc -- and yeah, tastes vary, but still.. some do music, clothes, photography, art, furniture, cars... it goes on).
Even when i was in highschool, it didn't even cross my mind, though granted none of my friends ever went "out" either, it was just much better to do stuff at each other's houses, and it still didn't involve drinking. It's all just the fun and games of peer pressure, either put on by "friends", who may not have your best interests in mind, or society at large, in which case, you aren't making decisions for yourself anymore.
If anything, i believe that most of the actions taken while under the influence is largely under your control, its a placebo that gives you the excuse to act stupid, even though you have every ability to not... I am certainly aware that it degrades your mental status, alcohol is a 'poison' / depressant afterall, but not in that way.. the drunk driving way when you want to fall asleep and cannot focus.
but in the end, everyone can do whatever they want, just be ready to accept the consequences of your actions (both good and bad).

I get stuff like this every now and again, I have a Saskatchewan ID as thats where my families "official" residence is right now but I'm at uni in Alberta so every now and again I get someone questioning my out of province ID and telling me its fake... As terrible as it sounds, in my experience if you indicate to them that they're fucking retarded because they assume that out of province ID's are fake they let you go... they really have no idea what its supposed to look like anyways so...
Also if a bouncer destroyed your legit ID he would be in sooooo much shit...

There are reasons why you have to be 21 to enter bars/clubs. Seriously though, what the hell?! It's as if this guy made a TL account cuz he just HAD to make this comment. In my opinion (as well as personal experience)the years between 17 and 21 rarely give you the experience / proper judgement which the law pretends magically instills within you the day you turn 21. In short, I know a few people under 21 who would N - E - V - E - R drive while drunk, and meanwhile i know 3 people who have over 10 DUIs between them and they STILL fucking do it every weekend. Two of these people are 25 years old and the other is like 33. There IS a reason you have to be 21, sure, it's the law. Is there a GOOD reason? Debatable. Poor first post is poor. More like he made a new account because he knew how stupid his opinion was -_- Those silly europeans letting their silly young 18 year olds drink alcohol, place must be a mess. In DK you can buy beer at age 16 in shops, 18 for harder liquor and to go to bars... It is public knowledge that thursday = 16 year olds in every single bar, some places even 14 year olds. And really, it isn't that bad of a mess ^^ Personally I've never been ID'ed (even when I was 16, then again I didn't go to bars too often), yet my 8 years older sister (who is now 30) gets ID'ed EVERY single time without fault - which is pretty hilarious It's called checking to see if she's in my age range (I presume your sister's hot...). Anyways.
I know lots of people who have used siblings ID's and such to get into places although as the drinking age here is 18 its not nearly as big of an issue...
