sc2 was allready really high tier skillgame in wings of liberty and had a tweakable balance, but after the heart of the swarm came out, some elements of each race became overpowered, thats when i quit playing. I am not buying legacy of the void, uselss because noone will play it online anyway. They should have made heart of the swarm a new game, new engine with new gfx.

+ Show Spoiler +Fuck man so many haters on TL lately. Every thread has someone hating on something. Almost always out of ignorance. + Show Spoiler +People who are studying in communications, at least in my uni, legitimately are unaware that they're doing politics. They're completely unaware that they're doing marketing, yet they openly talk about how they're working on building an image. They say that in principle, a public relations person shouldn't lie, but they informally agree that bending the truth is fine. Showing the good side of the picture is fine. Hiding the ugly parts is fine.
They made an ad about a pipeline that shows a bunch of happy people who live off of some gas-related thing. The message: Pipeline = Happy children. Happy, green little villages.
And you say it's political in nature, they say no it's information. How can you lie to yourself this much? I have a friend who took a class in marketing, one of the first things the teacher said is "Marketing is about getting the best product to the customer at the best price". And they believe that.... they fucking do.

+ Show Spoiler +You know there's more games in the world besides sc2, dota and LoL, right? This brings me to my rant. I've been a really big fan of the RTS genre from the moment I found it was an actual thing. Before that, the only thing that existed was turn-based strategy. There were board games like Chess, Chinese Checkers, Regular Checkers. I also had quite a bit of fun playing turn-based strategy games on the computer. Stuff like this: This game rocked. There were sooooooooooo many strategy games during the 90s. It was crazy. I still play some of them. Alone . But that's mainly because before the late 90s, most games were single-player oriented. Sure, there were multiplayer options, but they were often complicated to set up and crashed the games. Some of the games, like Total Annihilation, even when connected by LAN, ran at like 2 frames per second and the latency was insane by today's standards. But you know what? It was all absolutely worth it. There were all these different games, and they were so genuinely fun to play that even though you had to fight against your technology to get into a game, it was all worth it. I don't see the same level of enthusiasm for games now. I think it has a lot to do with game developers just giving us shitty products that feel like they were rushed through production. After playing less StarCraft: Brood War (I didn't retire from playing), I tried out some MMORPGs, and by chance found PlanetSide 2. PS2 is a massive first-person-shooter role-playing game that is free-to-play. The thing I like is that the game is very skilled-based, and even the starter weapons are actually good. It's an amazing game to just be able to play for free, but a lot of people who play are very upset with it. Why? Because tons of stuff in the game has been 'in beta' since the launch, tons of illogical balance patches to accommodate whiners, a distinct lack of new features, and lots of unfixed bugs. I read a lot of similar complaints on LoL boards, and discussions for other games. So why are so many game developers pissing so many people off so badly? When it all comes down to it, game developers really don't seem to care about their customers all that much and have a kind of "Eh, fuck 'em." kind of attitude. When confronted about issues with games, the developers usually respond in some sort of dismissive or condescending way, and then make a bunch of promises they can't keep. This kind of PR is certainly less expensive than paying programmers to actually fix shit. However, fixing shit seems pretty important. The problem is, people have a lot of brand loyalty when it comes to games. That's why things like the Mass Effect 3 ending happen, or Diablo 3 being noob-mode, or StarCraft 2 just sucking. Why are there like 20 Assassin's Creed games, 43 Halo games, and 9,382 Pokemon games? Because people buy those games. A big name like Legend of Zelda can effectively keep having more and more games published around that brand, even if some of them suck. The more people take it for granted that game developers will just make good games, the more watered-down games will get, and there will be some anger, but then acceptance. The money is already in the developer's pocket, so all you can do is hope the next title is better, shut up, or find the receipt and take the game back to the store and have a big argument with the store manager. For a lot of smaller games with not-so-massive communities, most people get frustrated easily and move on. This has a lot to do with the developers trying to milk the shit out of the players for money with pay-to-win bullshit. Smart phone app games do this a lot, even the 'strategy' games, which constantly demand more and more money from you, which is why they got their very own Southpark episode. Because it's rubbish. LoL and other such games get a lot of hype because they have their shit semi-together. StarCraft 2, right now, is kind in that late WoL era where everything is just kind of bleh and people are waiting for the next expansion to 'save' the game. Will it though? Absolutely not. Rather than putting out good vibes into the cosmos and praying to the eSports gods, I'm just going to level with everyone who purchases the next SC2 expansion. You want it to make the game complete. Blizzard knows that. That's why you're going to buy it. Once the sales for the game die down, there will likely be very few patches made to the game, and whatever the end result is; that's what you'll be stuck with. If that looks anything like end-game WoL or HotS, which evidently, have so many people flustered, then you would be stupid to expect anything besides disappointment. People will be really mad, but it'll be too late. Blizzard will have everyone's money, and then just make a game in a different genre (or WC4) and people will be like "Well, StarCraft got fucked up, but this new game is sure to be good." and the vicious cycle of going back to that abusive boyfriend who hits you and cheats on you continues. What I want to see: More good games. A diverse field of really fun strategy games that are fun to play and fun to watch. Also, for game developers to really care about making great games that are really fun. What I see right now: Lots of really shitty games. For anyone who really loves the moba sub-genre, DotA2 is probably the best game to play from what I've heard. FPS games are usually just kind of 'meh', and all the people flock to the latest thing, and there are a few big titles that are pulling at the limbs of consumers, like Counterstrike, Halo, Call of Doody, and Battlefield. I've been seeing lots of RTS games pop up, but nothing that has really grabbed my attention. I've dabbled here and there with different games, but nothing where I feel like "THIS IS AMAZING". I'll probably write a blog at some point about this, but yeah. There are a lot of shitty games out there, and a few hidden gems, and it's confusing as fuck for people who've played exclusively one game for so long, and so they just give up and head over to LoL, which is basically Hell for gamer-souls.

I was a die hard Planetside player. 3 year sub, great outfit to play with. Lots of fun people on my server (Johari and then merged with Markov). What a time. I quit that game as my friends slowly bled away and when I heard of PS2 I jumped all over that instantly. What a fucking mistake.
I agree with literally everything here except the pokemon reference. They keep making new games because pokemon is a surprisingly deep game for pvp and extreamly simple for pve. Very appealing to all types of gamers

+ Show Spoiler +lmao, I basically did the same thing to my old laptop, except it was a TvZ; I misclicked my bio/mine splits, and got decimated by banelings, poof, game is over. turns out since I smacked the keyboard too hard, the hard drive was broken or something. It was a costly mistake...
I also dabble in dota2, hearthstone, WoW, and a little heroes of the storm, and there's just as much to rage about in those games as well, lol. Starcraft at least is the only game I mostly rage at myself for not being better at it - as this game's pro scene has shown that if you work hard you can overcome any imbalance; there's literally nothing you can do about feeder teammates in Dota or LoL, or bad RNG in hearthstone. The only games guaranteed for me not to rage are single player games, I just either grind out the sections that are hard or turn down the difficulty...

and sc2 can't break 20k on a good day.
I love this game, but this shit is seriously fucked. everyone else is blowing up around us and we're just slowly going away.
LotV wont save us, and I dont blame any player for jumping off this sinking ship and going to a more alive game.

+ Show Spoiler + yesterday, I accidentally disabled 2 of the 3 networkcards on our main management server (vCenter) and then set the last network card to auto-detect settings (from manual settings)in a VMenvironment, thinking I was on a newly made Virtual machine, which resulted in a total fucking chaos. I couldn't find the management server anymore, since it made itself a new IP and any DNSlookup/ping/rdp would result in the old IP. Not only that, litterally EVERY fucking scheduled backup (+-20 servers) either crashed or couldn't start, almost our complete VM environment crashed to fucking bits. In the end I could somehow get into the register (regedit) of that particular machine and view the current network settings somewhere deep in the HKEY/LOCAL MACHINE/ folder and could in the end restore everything. It took me fucking 6 hours before all snapshots and backups were running properly again and not only that, but that cost me my whole evenining (FREE EVENING!!GRRR). Even now I'm not satisfied at all, since I can't even figure out WHY i could contact the register. If Ping, Nslookup, tracert, rdp, even our fucking hp management server all think that computer XXXX is at 192.168.XX.XX, how the FUCK can regedit or event viewer --> connect to another computer, find that computer? I've wasted this whole fucking day discussing with a friend (ex-colleague) and thinking about how this worked.
All in all, I'm glad that not everything went to complete shit and I'll call it a day soon...
