Listened to music on this page. Sounds decent, but still confused by name.
Drum and Bass is electronic music with emphasis on Drums and Bass. People confuse it with dubstep because they sound similar.
What I listened to on the previous page did not, to me, resemble dubstep nor did I hear an emphasis on drums or bass. It sounded like chiptune techno, without even a "thump-tiss". I will grant, the samples may not be wholly representative of the genre. Still, I was hoping for some DCI and it was not delivered. Carry on.

Like many other genres nowadays, Drum and Bass also suffers from this problem whereby most modern output is fairly generic and derivative and has a much more watered down/accessible style than the old school.
Anyway, I've been meaning to post in this thread again, because recently I've managed to find a pretty sick track, that I had originally discovered as the music for a custom UT2004 map (where it worked flawlessly, I might add).
Without further ado:

Neurofunk (Noisia never was that good as C4C - even though I knew them right from the start)

Liquid

drum and bass as any other genre suffered from generic stuff rigth from the beginning i started listening in the late 90s..
the thing - you got to listen to the records.. I ususally lsiten to 100 songs and buy one.. and this didnt change from 1998 to 2013 really.
just listen to good DJ's if you havent the time to search for records.
and Dubstep - pls.. its the biggest crap in history of music - and no - thats not a matter of taste but experience and sophistication.. like some people can eat at Mc DOnalds and others cant for obvious reasons...
stylistically nothing beats nice 3d / vector rendering and DnB

Maybe you'd respond better to Jungle. I'm not massively knowledgeable when it comes to DnB, but lately have been dabbling in Jungle. AFAIK in the early 90s Hardcore and Jungle were born from "Rave", the first employing lots of samples and eventually shedding the breakbeats in favour of 4 to the floor. Jungle became darker and eventually evolved into D&B, something to do with the name not being so PC, being called Jungle because of the somewhat tribal sounding drums.
Anyway there's still a sub genre of DnB that goes for the rawer sound that was typical of the early to mid 90s. If you're after a DJ to listen to then Nicky Blackmarket is a good place to start - I suggest this set. Below are some tunes I like that might blur the line between hardcore and DnB but still have that very distinctive breakbeat.
2 Croozin' - Code Red part 2 (This is from 1994, maybe not the right genre but who cares right?) + Show Spoiler +
31:00 - Endorphins (Sub Focus & Fred V & Grafix Remix) - "I've been holding on for some kind of miracle, I'll be right there if you're ever alone, Holding on for some kind of miracle, I'll be right there if you're ever alone"
