This is my favorite kind of music to listen to while playing. Especially the more intense faster electronic variety. I usually just set up Pandora on Drum and Bass radio and that does it pretty well for me.
I used to DJ here and there before I realised how pretentious playing other people's music in public and thinking you were skilled was. I did a couple of breakbeat mixes to entice people to the world of amens, they start commercial and work up to other things.
I'd like to share them with other DnB fans here, they are still good for putting on in the car / ipod
I really really love Liquid (as below) and Atmospheric (think LTJ Bukem/Good Looking Records early 90s stuff) DnB. I do listen to the darker stuff too. The Upbeats is pretty awesome. This is my favorite genre of music, so if you hear something you like below, ask me for more recommendations that are similar!!
Anyway, here's my post from that thread There's a bunch of songs in the spoiler in the quote
You are into Liquid DnB (and some Atmospheric DnB too), it's one of my favorite (if not favorite) EDM genres. I just saw Netsky last month, it was amazing. I'm so happy someone else likes DnB on this forum!!! Here's a few youtube channels you should subscribe to:
High Contrast Utah Jazz Memro Netsky Indivision Mutated Forms B-Complex LTJ Bukem Camo & Krooked Fred V Grafix Indivision Joe Syntax London Elektricity Sub Focus Logistics Nu:Tone Pendulum (Their old stuff, not their new metal/electronica hybrid trash) + Anyone on Hospital Records basically
Here's a few songs you have to hear if you like Liquid DnB, tell me what you like and I'll try to recommend you similar artists:
edit: added songs. I may keep adding, I can't help myself. Love to get people listening to this genre
To the guy that posted Aphex Twin. He's not REALLY DnB, although his songs sometimes have some DnB elements. He's more classified as IDM/Glitch/Experimental, although he dabbles in every genre of EDM. Check out Vordhosbn, Heliosphan, and Ageispolis by him. Incredible songs. You should really just download his entire Druqks album and his Selected Ambient Works 85-92 album.
There is nothing like liquid dnb in the summer time, and therefore i decided some weeks ago to make a liquid dnb mix as my second mix that i've done(ever) 34min of liquid funk, perfect for the summer:
Euphorics + Joe Easy Nuttah - Smoke Ghostface Killah & Neyo - Back Like That (Dj Marky & Bungle Remix) M25 - Morning Rain Blue Motion & Grimm - There She Goes Netsky - Moving With You (Feat. Jenna G) Lenzman - Bittersweet Danny Byrd - Tonight (Feat. Netsky) Calibre - Even If Utah Jazz - Skyward Bound Matrix & Future Bound - Coast To Coast (Feat. Louis Smith)
As of right now, my fav tracks are Netsky's remix of Rusko - Everyday and Interface Feat. William Cartwright - Truth Beyond
check out the danish live Drum&Bass band F.U.K.T, it's pretty normal drum and bass, but with a live drummer and bass player, tighest rythm group around
one of their songs feating Ane Trolle(LOVE HER <3):

I would imagine most people who like what dubstep has morphed into won't give a care about how d&b sounds unless they are already really into electronic music and not following trends.
On April 20 2011 07:48 LambtrOn wrote: We should just combine this with the dubstep thread as I imagine most people like both genres.
Definitely not. There's only a small number of people who like both of those genres and the stuff they listen to from both of those genres in that case is the mainstream, "the bad kind". And thats said without any "IM SO UNDRGRND I DONT EVEN DRINK WATER CUZ THAZ MAINSTREAM" attitude. Mainstream stuff is made to appeal to the masses, and the only aspects they usually stick to that make them categorizable is the tempo (140bpm in dubstep and 170-180 in dnb)
and theres plenty of shit dnb in this thread as well but dont let my opinion and taste phase you when you filter through the stuff that you personally like n feel. As much as id like it, i can only direct preferences instead of enforcing them :D
That said, Roll on the good DNB small selection for yous links in spoilers to free up pagespace and spare you from scrolling and loading all the track embeds (i wish more people did this)
Shapeshifter - One (from their album Soulstice. Shapeshifter we're awesome before they signed exclusively to Hospital Recs, and has already been linked in this thread, for a reason. Soulful DNB at its best) + Show Spoiler +
Cooh - Your Sunny Morning (From the LP "Cinematic DNB vol.1" on Dubkraft Records, which says a lot about the feel of this track. So many people breaking the mould these days that its plain awesome to see the DNB scene so fresh n clean these days with so much talent emerging. Warm breezy n ambientish track) + Show Spoiler +
Jubei & dBridge - Patience (Something from a totally different subgenre. I like to describe this as a heavy deep roller (unlike the neuro and techstep of the early 2000's, this can still be classified as 'heavy') Stripped down breaks, a deep bass and sharp percussions with a simplistic yet oh so awesome groove are what describe and summarize that track. and that bass leaves you breathless on a dancefloor, trust me, its huge O_O) + Show Spoiler +
dBridge & Instra:Mental - Translucent (The 'autonomic' sound, popularized in '10 mainly by the guys featured on this one. Staying true to the 170bpm time signature, but borrowing so many influences from everywhere, genre and era-wise. Breaking the mould of standard breaks, yet staying true to the elements that encompass DnB. Really emotional and melodic roller. I really suggest you look more of both dBridge & Instra:Mental up if you like this. + Show Spoiler +
Bungle - The Source (unlike the other suggestions so far that are relatively new, this one hails from 2008. Yet it has that timeless sound that still makes it a great track in every set. Sharp and snappy breaks with heavy atmos and bleepy leads and a rolling bassline make this one of my all-time fav tracks. Enchanting) + Show Spoiler +
Time to end this seemingly monstrous post Hope you enjoy my suggestions and the little previews that i chose to accompany with them As some of you can tell, i am really passionate about my drums and my bass
And if you listen to Bassdrive enough, you'll hear my tunes on there as well :D Selfplug in the spoiler >_>
www.soundcloud.com/fuse-est <- havent got practically any tracks up on youtube but most of them are on soundcloud as slightly shortened clips (since most of them are either unsigned or signed but not released yet) enjoy :D
Some good stuff mentioned in here, but I reallly think people should put their links in spoilertags so the whole page isn't filled up with the youtube embeds.
I'm a long time EDM fan, but mostly sticking to genres not listed in this thread. I've just recently started exploring other EDM sub-genres and I must say that the sheer number and variety is astounding, awe-inspiring, and sometimes intimidating. Keeping it all straight in my head makes my brain hurt!
One reason why I love EDM is that there seems to be a sub-genre for every mood and every day. I can get my electronic fix no matter what!
WOW Icicle's new album got released today on Shogun Audio. Killller the entire album has previews on www.undertheice.org, but here are my favorties from the ep + Show Spoiler +
yeah i havent gotten round to listening to it yet but knowing Icicle and seeing the feedback its getting, its bound to be huge and even better turns out he's playing here on may 20th WINRAR

I don´t want to sound like a hater but.
I like drum and base and not dubstep. Dubstep drowned out a lot of the DnB scenes which are very different to me. I don´t want to sort through a mass of dubstep to find dnb gems.
To me dubstep is like a ugly cousin to dnb. Don´t want to derail this in a dubstep vs dnb discussion. To each their own.
Shapeshifter - One (from their album Soulstice. Shapeshifter we're awesome before they signed exclusively to Hospital Recs, and has already been linked in this thread, for a reason. Soulful DNB at its best) + Show Spoiler +
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxDWoa6FyOk
wow shapeshifter - one
now we are talking. i gonna check all the other tracks.
try shapeshifter - the ride. such an intense build up. but you probably know it anyway. summer haze is good too.
you might enjoy the latest underworld (born slippy) track which is called scribble. but the original, not the shitty netsky rmx.
if only my friend diehilde would get into this thread, he is a formidable dnb dj himself. he would have some to say.
again to all the people who like netsky and logistics and b-complex beautiful lies, its not that bad, its a good start actually, but you have only just begun :p
try b-complex girl with flower for instance.
also the new track from seba and paradox (move on) - the light
oh my, there are just so many bits that are worth a recommendation, and i don't even listen to dnb all that much anymore...
I haven't listened to any for a log time but these were some of my favorite tracks:
Makai- Beneath the Mask (uses sped-up Ghost in the Shell sample, so badass) Zinc- Ready or Not remix (great jump up reinterpretation of the classic hiphop track) Konflict- Messiah (Best intro of any track ever) Marcus Intalex- Midnight (perfect singing and melody) DJ Marky- LK (beautiful melodic Brazilian melody) )EI3(- Breathe (epic almost trancey sound) Pendulum- Still Grey (their best melodic track IMO) Dom and Roland- Can't Punish Me (best bassline ever) Practically everything by Omnio Trio- (If you like deep, melodic style then check his stuff out)
As you can tell I'm mostly into tracks that are melodic in some way.
makai - beneath the mask, great, needs a rmx though, the sample is just golden, even if you have never seen gits, but the tune without the sample is kinda plain (like in plane and pain).
pendulum - still grey, their best overall by far imo
yeah midnight and lk, too obvious :D
watch your posts people, the dnb police is now itt :/
so someone recommended me some dnb internet radio. i mostly have dnbradio.net, ukbassradio.com and bassdrive.com on some sort of loop depending on when they're up/down/have terrible mc's on, but new ideas would always be appreciated
edit - may be useful to give some ideas of stuff i like, sub focus, andy c, dj zinc, pendulum's first album, roni size, london elektricity, mostly old school stuff really
On April 27 2011 07:28 snapski wrote: Im listening for past 3 years this radio called BassDrive.com should definitly check it!
I second this station. Really good music. I may also recommend jungletrain.net.
As far as my DnB is concerned, I've been listening almost exclusively to Dieselboy. Particularly The Human Resource and Dungeonmaster's Guide. Great albums.
Two albums that stand out for me as great mixes are the Sick Music 1&2 sets from hospital records, its a great set to just put on shuffle and let it ride. Calyx has some pretty sick stuff out there too. I also like to put livednb.com on and just play sc2 for hours.
Some nice tracks spotted here, some shitty ones too. Some favorites not listed in here worth a mention: Noisia - Block Control (puts any other basslines to shame) RAM Trilogy - Screamer D-Kay ft someone - I'll be there 4 u
**Edit: Check out Sub-Focus - Essential mix for BBC Radio 1 - it's split on YT as well, really awesome mix.
Most Black Sun Empire tracks too - they have a fucking awesome and unique style.
In general, my favorite artists would be Dom & Roland, BSE, Noisia, Teebee, Pendulum (only their old stuff!!), Dkay, Sub-Focus (!!!!), Andy C & Dillinja's old stuff as well. There's just so much more that probably won't come to mind being as high as I am right now but I will probably check back this thread and maybe edit in videos too if I'm more sober But I won't promise that haha...

1. Let's keep dubstep out of this please, gentlemen. It's like posting pics of Hayden Christensen in a Vader worship thread.
2. Also spoiler tags are awesome for all ours browsing pleasure, but do put a description above so we don't have to expand only to discover a shit link!
3. Now, I always loved these drum samples, old school jungle sounds here by Bill Laswell:
a short mix I did a while ago, contains both dnb and dubstep
Tracks(in order): Unconscious Perception - Ghost Train (Original) Plan B - The Recluse (Nero Instrumental Remix) Modestep - Feel Good Skrillex - Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites (Noisia Remix) Rusko - Hold On (Feat. Amber Coffman) Chris Clark - Lord of the Dance Modestep - Exile Mastered LB Donkey Kong Country - Aquatic Ambience (DC Remix)

Yep, I really like Rawthang especially, State of Mind is good too but haven't heard enough to do judgement. Telemetrik... hmm either I'm completely off or I didn't really like it, will definitely check it out again tho.
Just recently became aware of something that I've probably known for the longest time: Matrix & Futurebound make amazing music! So I checked out their stuff and sure enough their album Universal truth is a complete goldmine of awesome tracks
I've been djing out for around 11 or 12 years. Played support for Andy C, Friction, Doc Scott, Chase & Status and everyone else etc. I've got an 8 hour History of Drum n Bass mix from a gig we did a few years back (94-2002) I can link if anyone is keen too.
Been Djing for around 4 years, exclusively dnb with a big focus on late 90's Techstep.
Do you mix off cd or vinyl? What do you use to record your mixes?
Will definitely check you out on Soundcloud.
I'm switched to Serato in the last couple of years, just got sick of cds skipping and being limited by the amount of vinyl you can take to a gig in your crate (used to have to take two crates of tunes to our monthly nights lol). So yeah, 2x turntables with serato and a cdj (all mixes are 3 turntables). Just record through Serato's internal recording function since its really nice quality

Haha, lugging crates of tunes is all part of the experience. You can always pick a prepared DJ when it takes him 30min to get from door to decks...
Been playing around with Serato quite a lot recently, it's certainly growing on me.
Audacity is what I'm trying to record with atm. I cant seem to shake some interference on the line out channel though, really hoping it's not my DJM!!
Liking your 2008 Rumble mix on Soundcloud. Huge variety in the tracklist!!

Wow, never realised. Presumably its beatplexity not handling the + sign. I was going to upload it again, but never got around to it, so thank you very much for correcting, and the interest ofc
Pendulum is awesome. I think if you like most of pendulum's songs 1 of them posted earlier you'll also like Blue Stahli and Celldweller. I'm not sure these 3 artists have a specific thread since their not completely drum and bass.
People told me it sounded like a mix of Pendulum/The Prodigy (even if prodigy arent dnb), so if you like them you could have a listen
That's pretty decent I can see what you mean with the Pendulum/Prodigy mix... I'm a huge fan of both groups - been to multiple concerts... But of all the names you could've chosen you pick these out... kindda makes me wanna say... Not too much from these bands with little/next to no lyrics (I know the original Pendulum had some... but you know what I mean)
Overall...
Good job, sir :D I enjoyed... (+ it's good for playing StarCraft)
P.S. I'm new to soundcloud... Is it possible to download this?

I don't know if you can call this DnB, xanopticon is usually a Breacore artist, but the tracks from his Silver Key EP are more DnB oriented imo. mad Reese Bass lines all over!
If ANYONE can recommend something similar to this, i would appreciate it, i have tried everywhere for years and i haven't been able to find anything as good, it's chaotic, heavy, and DEM REESE'S!
This is so fucking awesome! I just found this thread, and I wished I'd found it sooner. One Saturday afternoon in the city open fair I went through rows upon rows of $2 CD's, one of which was a "Jungle-Sky Volume 2". Awesome awesome, lead me on to join their label group on Facebook, and also to discover "High Contrast".
[Disclaimer=I know nothing about DnB, I like Jungle] So how do these 'High Contrast' track fit? Are they good, what categorywould they fall in? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8h_MfZng4o

Sub Focus is amazing, also if you like that check out this one.
I just want to say as a DNB dj, that to me the best dnb really comes down to the single songs themselves and not the artists (and all of what they have released) themselves Take for example this delicious song, I'm not so sure about the rest of the release but this makes up for it bigtime!:
im sad there is so many jump ups in this thread and not enough classics im fan of oldschool dnb till 2004-2005 (with few new exceptions like D-bridge), current dnb kinda sucks, no old techy feel.
I'm a complete noob when it comes to D&B, but this is the kind of D&B i'm looking for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrHCn69rppg Am i looking for techstep? Or which is this subgenre? There's so much different D&B out there, that it gets overwhelming to search these things. I've tried to search similar tracks from youtube with not much luck. Most of the d&b i found, is either too slow or has somekind of annoying effects or even worse, female vocals. :/ Any suggestions for similar artists is also appreciated (but please mention also which album). Help a bro(toss) out?

ABSO-FUCKING-LOUTELY NOT. Like that is seriously the STUPIDEST fucking thing i have read dont assume just because dubstep has a lot of "bass" it just goes with the bass instrument, dubstep is electronica music and Bass is a part of REAL music.
Omg cant believe I havent found out about this thread until now D: Ive been listening to DnB for 10 years+ and been DJing for around 8 years - unfortunately I dont have much time for DJing anymore now. But I'll upload a set of mine sometime and post it here. In the meanwhile, Im gonna post some of the best and most beautiful tunes of the past few years that never got the popularity they deserved. Also, please hear these tunes in HD! Oh, in case you wonder, Im more into the liquid stuff, so dont expect stuff too dark:
3 for now, probably gonna post more stuff in the coming days.
I found this gem the other day off of beatport and I gotta say, it's some of the most classic ambient/liquid/chill drum n bass I've heard in a long time.

Alright, so i totally loved Camo & Krooked's new album and epspecially the tune "Cross The Line", but Metrik's remix takes it to another level! One of my favourite tunes of the year
Have all you DnB lovers heard of the "autonomic" sound? That's pretty much all the drumnbass buzz that I've heard the past year. It takes the DnB tempo and feel in another direction--stripped back, colder, less "speed freak." Definitely big influence from dubstep (pre-2009 that is).
Since they don't fill up as much space with percussive elements it feels slower, but if you count it's definitely up there around 170 bpm. The two main proponents are dBridge and Instra:mental, working through non-plus records. The name "autonomic" stems from their podcast of the same name. They also released an excellent mix cd for fabriclive. Since then they (in particular instra:mental and the label non-plus) have branched out into other dance genres like techno and house. Other artists still representing this sound are ASC and Consequence. Some songs:
One of their techno/electro releases from their album
All in all I really recommend their mix for fabric--lots of these tracks are taken from that mix. I'm not really into the scene so I don't know too much but it's definitely exciting music. Check it out:FabricLive 50: dBridge and Instra:mental present Autonomic

I've been following the scene closely pretty much ever since the beginning and i dont really agree with the dubstep influence statement and I dunno what happened in 2009 dubstep-wise besides getting very popular mainly in NA which didnt really affect the production of other producers. anyways, if you want to ask questions or ask for recommendations, be sure to pm me all though, the autonomic sound is slowly dying ( if not dead already ) there are some great niche tracks that you probably have not heard yet ie instramentals photograph or oak's bedroom community

I don't understand your reaction to the OP. The dubstep influence is clear - but we're talking the likes of Burial, Scuba, Distance etc and not Skrillex. Hell, Scuba and Distance even released on Exit, while Instra:mental appeared on Rinse FM (pre their switch away from drum n bass).
As for slowly dying, I tend to disagree. Look at Consequence's new album, Exit's consistent releases and the fact that Dub Phizix tune Marka is probably the biggest drum n bass tune since LK (and arguably a product of the 'autonomic' sound)

no definetly there are releases coming out on consistent time interval but they are all mostly old tunes just released. The latest release that i would define as autonomic is probably the latest synkro on exit ( progression / remix ) which dates back to 2010 or early 11 ) or june miller's ep on horizons which "autonomicy" remixes are also rather old. There are lp or 2 worth of instramental stuff in vaults which will very likely never see a release and dont get played out much. guess its just dying for me now that I think about it, there are tons of forthcoming shit that the public just doesn't know about. guess New Zealand should be proud providing the autonomic world with consequence and FIS who's hot as fuck atm. mosaic 2 in works as well so guess theres some good stuff coming after all.
Don't know if this has been posted but it is so good it don't matter much. I just heard about him on a DnB production thread and damn those synths are so good. Aside from noisia and spor, is there any other producers with a similar sound?

Hey, thanks again for all the great posts. I love this thread sooo much!
Other than that, I bought the New High Contrast album today. It has a really unique sound, vocal heavy and deep. Kind of Liquid. If you want to give it a try:
I love it, I also saw him live. Mad skillz. Check it out.
Here's a couple of mixes for a competition I was in recently - so obviously fast mixing etc. The recordings are from practice sessions, but I hit the same cues tightly on the night. Three decks etc.
One of my absolute favorites right now, Netsky's music is so damn powerful and yet beautiful .. love it :D Does anybody more of this kind of music? Something that really gives the feeling of freedom and piece ... (Please don't suggest Netsky, I already know pretty much all the songs he made ;P)
Hopefully I'm not the only one, who feels like that about this music >_<
Yeah there is quite a school of producers like that. Mostly he epitomises the Hospital Recordings sound - so check other Hospital artists like Camo & Krooked, High Contrast more recently, or older Logistics (everything is illuminated for example), the Weapons of Mass Creation LPs and so on.
Otherwise, check out D-Kay/ILL Skillz stuff as it incorporates many similar sounds. Shapeshifter as well. Trei too. Even Influx UK and a few tunes on Formation Records carry the same vibe.
edit: oh and Matrix & Futurebound. If you like Netsky then you'll be massive on them :D :D

Haha yeah this is true. Does seem to be the dominant theme amongst liquidians.
Some classics you should check out if you like that style from the last time that sort of style was big in the early 00s (sorry no youtube links as at work but you should be able to find them): John B - Up All Night Concord Dawn - Morning Light/Take Me Away John B - Forever rmx/Run Out of Time Sunchase - Remember Me Paul B - Solar Unreal Raiden - Fallin
YeyeaAAAAAAAAA Oh yes, Oy YES, More LIQUID please! di.fm baby
And this gem sure as hell got me through my last exam period (dancing like mad at my desk at all hours)
Good Godly spots: 7:30 onwards basically 27min 39min (when some Zero 7 came on it was all OMG for me) - 53min if you've listened this far, may as well DL the mp3 (detrul.com) and enjoy through your kindle, as you speed-cube on the bus.
I'm trying to find tracks/artists which have a downtempo feel but with a bpm closer to straight DnB (I might be describing atmospheric or intelligent DnB), any suggestions?
Wow, completely forgot to watch in this thread again (Avicii got me, so I currently looked for more Housy stuff) >_<
Thanks for all the awesome suggestions!
I didn't even know that Camo & Krooked are under Hospital Records, despite knowing them for ages already (like basically everyone in Austria who listens to DnB ...)
And bITt.mAN thank you for the mixes, I already knew the BBC Essential since I randomly fell into the Essential Mix Thread (freakin' sweet :D) but the Hospital Continuous sounds nice :D
Oh, and just because it's awesome: (Don't know really if it's DnB, hard to tell for someone who listens to basically every genre, that exists on this earth)

Jesus your missing some even better ones with her singing:
Long time psy-trance dj here, used to hit up a lot of dnb events back when I was a party kid. I've dabbled in spinning the genre informally as well (something different at jam sessions, etc); recently I've decided to start taking it a bit more seriously.
This thread has loads of good stuff and I got a lot out of it. So I figured I'd better hand some back
(note: I know *I* don't bother clicking things when I don't know what they are so I've included a few subjective thoughts in spoilers under the videos. I don't feel qualified to classify them by subgenre though.)
I'm not sure how "uplifting/minimal" is not a contradiction, but apparently it's not. Paul B somehow creates the vast and rolling momentum of dnb while maintaining a sunny-sunday-morning energy level.
Classic track; a stand-alone in my collection for some 5+ years, and a track I already knew from the dance floor when I got it. I tried to find a youtube link for Spirit's "axis" for you guys too, but I wasn't able to.
Plan 9 feat. Jotj - You [Ben Sage rmx] vocal, melodic
Don't let the description mislead you: what you're going to fixate on with this one is the heavy, driving bassline that flexes and grinds through the whole track. Really nice sounds going on in the low end. Ben Sage seems to produce a range of different styles really well. The guy who posted the Breakage track should enjoy this one.
Yes, that sample is kinda sappy and repetititve. That sort of thing usually makes me rage. The rest of the track makes me love it anyway, If I'd had this on dubplate instead of mp3, I'd have burned through several by now.
Cybernetika - Close Your Eyes psybreaks; psy/dnb fusion
My reasons for loving this should be obvious. Big rolling bass and relentless snares for a two-step pulse, twisting and "futuristic" layered synths for that special psy tirelessness, wide dynamic range and reverbing filters for a sonic stage you feel small inside. Psybreaks has a tendancy to seem less a genre and more an idea that people can't get to work; in my opinion, Cybernetika is so exempt from that, I can't help thinking it must embarrass a lot of talented people.
The album this is from, 'Colossus', is probably what I'd give as the best starcraft-playing tunes out there.
It is also, incidentally, free to download. If you're either into psy or want more Cybernetika, I recommend exploring ektoplazm(the link) more fully.
Good day everyone. Just saw this thread and thought I'd stop by. I'm actually a Liquid DnB fan but I like to listen to other variations as well as some are really awesome.
Here are some of my favorite tunes at the moment:
Not liquid to be honest but it has a really nice vibe. And an amazing video!
Sadly not around anymore. Definitely one of my all time favorites. So happy and catchy.
Last but not least, a track from a young and talented artist. I really like the feeling and the atmosphere on that one.
Hope there is something interesting for you among those three here.

Yeah Hospitality record posted the After life video on facebook, I loved it so much! I bought the album, I only liked some of the songs but some of it had some kind of brostep feel to it. Which was a major turn off lol.
That's the first time I've heard of Zyblot, I absolutely love this track! Thank yo for sharing ^_^
I have been a hardcore Netsky fan for years. Liquid dnb is awesome but lately I have been starting to love some of the old school 2005-2007 kind of straightforward drum and bass, enjoy:
First one is by Subsenix, so Subsonik + Ben Sage, and the second one is Russian, how awesome is that. I came to find that russian dnb is pretty sweet!
i wonder how you guys keep "up2date" regarding new tracks? for dubstep i found udubstep.com which advertises free tracks and remixes and a (at least for me ) pretty reliable rating system. i just check it every couple of days and listen to the newest tracks, but sadly i haven't found anything similar for DNB? i'm mostly into liquid dnb (so a lot of hospitality records' artists), but for a general overview, here is my playlist on youtube with a handful of tracks i randomly added to it (also contains dubstep tracks and some other stuff). so you just subscribe to UKFDrumandBass and Liquicity and hope for the best or do you have similar sites for dnb like udubstep?

They are probably the most popular dnb producers in the world. Their video plays on youtube outnumber everyone else's in dnb by a massive margin.

I have a problem with DnB, that problem is that I cannot tell the difference between DnB, straight techno, house, and EDM, it all sounds way too similar. The invisible pidgeonholing council wins again.
I know Pendulum is considered DnB and I like them, but they've probably had every song ever posted somewhere in this thread by now...

All the other genres you mentioned have a steady beat, while D&B has broken beat. Also D&B is much faster with beats per minute of ~170.
But it is really not that simple as D&B has a very wide variety of drum patterns and flavours:
i feel kinda silly posting pendulum here but this tune packs a serious punch. It was released long before their massive fame. Still got their signature snare sounds though..
This is the best track I've ever heard in dnb. It's the top post on /r/dnb at the moment. I took the chance to listen and it's a high quality 2:56 track. The rest of the "Golden Ticket" album is also high quality!
I dislike the cover art for Black Sun Empire but I've listened to these for us and can recommend "Black Sun Empire - Breach" as a good 7:35 track, and "Jah Warriors" as good for jungle/dub/dnb but short with only 3:11 in duration.
For slower PCs users, (using don't show embedded Youtube videos) I'm sorry for not putting titles up earlier.
I've listened to these five tracks and can verify each is good if not great. The first starts with sounds more familiar to the majority of those outside of the community, a mix between vocal trance and dnb.
For the first Telekinesis I've ever heard I'd say I got lucky. The mashup between metal and dnb begun, and I was busy shooting dinosaurs with my akimbo submachine guns in Dino Crisis 2, and then my blood started heating up for the guitar drops as I pumped rounds in raptors.
I'm new to dnb and S.P.Y., so when I clicked the link and saw the Youtube post was from Hospital Records I had to listen to the whole track.
I have to say I really like the "Golden Ticket" album by Danny Byrd (Hospital Records). It's replacing the hole Daft Punk left in my mind when all the hype collapsed after I listened to the full "Random Access Memories" album. I posted my favorites on the album earlier, but essentially it's the single "Get on it" and "Bad Monday", "BANG!", "Like a Byrd".
Thankfully all these tracks are still available on Youtube as I prefer not to use Soundcloud. Those two classics by "Cato Rhymes" and the "Bad Company Remix" are indeed honorable. I have heard one other Black Sun Empire track, and "Exit Row" is a good second addition. That "B-Complex" track is the first one time I've heard that dj, it seems he's not far from Hospital Records.
Have to say my favorite artists are probably, Fred V & Grafix, and Camo & Krooked. So good. Hope you all enjoy!
I had to sell my Audio Technica M50's for gasoline money, and I miss the bass (car audio mids aside), so I didn't enjoy the Spor - 103 degrees track overall (because I'm probably missing out of half of the track.) However the rest of the suggestions you posted are great for just basic equipment, mainly the Fred V posts, with Just a Thought and Decades being my favorites.

Listened to music on this page. Sounds decent, but still confused by name.
Drum and Bass is electronic music with emphasis on Drums and Bass. People confuse it with dubstep because they sound similar.
What I listened to on the previous page did not, to me, resemble dubstep nor did I hear an emphasis on drums or bass. It sounded like chiptune techno, without even a "thump-tiss". I will grant, the samples may not be wholly representative of the genre. Still, I was hoping for some DCI and it was not delivered. Carry on.

Like many other genres nowadays, Drum and Bass also suffers from this problem whereby most modern output is fairly generic and derivative and has a much more watered down/accessible style than the old school.
Anyway, I've been meaning to post in this thread again, because recently I've managed to find a pretty sick track, that I had originally discovered as the music for a custom UT2004 map (where it worked flawlessly, I might add).

drum and bass as any other genre suffered from generic stuff rigth from the beginning i started listening in the late 90s..
the thing - you got to listen to the records.. I ususally lsiten to 100 songs and buy one.. and this didnt change from 1998 to 2013 really.
just listen to good DJ's if you havent the time to search for records.
and Dubstep - pls.. its the biggest crap in history of music - and no - thats not a matter of taste but experience and sophistication.. like some people can eat at Mc DOnalds and others cant for obvious reasons...
stylistically nothing beats nice 3d / vector rendering and DnB

Maybe you'd respond better to Jungle. I'm not massively knowledgeable when it comes to DnB, but lately have been dabbling in Jungle. AFAIK in the early 90s Hardcore and Jungle were born from "Rave", the first employing lots of samples and eventually shedding the breakbeats in favour of 4 to the floor. Jungle became darker and eventually evolved into D&B, something to do with the name not being so PC, being called Jungle because of the somewhat tribal sounding drums.
Anyway there's still a sub genre of DnB that goes for the rawer sound that was typical of the early to mid 90s. If you're after a DJ to listen to then Nicky Blackmarket is a good place to start - I suggest this set. Below are some tunes I like that might blur the line between hardcore and DnB but still have that very distinctive breakbeat.

I read the OP about 'old and new' So I thought I might try and sneak these in..
If I said Helter Skelter, Fantazia, Grooverider, Mickey Finn or MC GQ.. Might these ring a bell with anyone?
If not you should skip this post and go on to the next where your normal DnB show will resume shortly!!
Otherwise, and for those curious, a look back into yester year at some of the music I grew up with. Much of which is the forefather to the various genres of DnB we have today.
I'll ease you into it! This is pure DnB, just old skool. A stomper.
Here's a flyer from 2 bad mice, must be from the sweet spot of what I'd call Jungle Techno, 1992, there is a remix of this which you might want to look up, was real fun to mix that one as you could be brutal cutting it in, instantly everyone knew what was up next!
Not sure exactly which year this one hit the shelves, but our American brethren will instantly recognice it from the show Cops. The original by Inner Circle that is.
I could spend all night doing this. This one from I believe 91 is a classic. Acid house? Jungle Techno? Top Buzz were a duo (dj & mc) Who were a real crowd puller back in the day, and still doing the odd rave today. OI Get off the fukin` speakers!

Just a tiny taster! You're welcome though. I think the music we grow up with sticks with us for the rest of our lives.
if anyone has listened to hazard, you can kinda see i'm influenced by him, still have a long way to go as far as producing is concerned, but i feel my second track is along the lines of what i want to create in future ^_^
I've also got another dnb mix in the works, just gotta get round to recording it.
also lately, been listening to a ton of Audio, this guy has insane production
As is common in the dance scene, people release stuff under various aliases, here's another by Nookie - this time releasing as Windy Milla.

Sweet Harmony.

Because why not, here's the tune the above was sampled from, going back to late 80's. Drum n Bass was just an itch in Aphex Twins mind at this stage. Fucking classic tune. Because why not. Ce Ce Rogers - Someday.
---
Krome & Time released some cool stuff, getting slightly back on track with The Slammer
---
Here's a top tune - drum n bass pedigree through and through.
---
FUCK MY LIFE. I'VE RUN OUT OF BISCUITS.
---
LTJ Bukem was known for his dnb with an ambient streak. Here's Demons Theme.
---
I'll have to give myself a reality check, and wonder why I didnt link this one already. More classic than the CLASSIC BW VOD STREAM.
---
Here's a break-beaty esq / hardcore tune from Yolk. Cained to death. BISH BOSH.
---
Full on old skool hardcore with this insane number, again by Yolk - it's on the flip side to the above.
---
More hardcore, this came out on Slammin Vinyl.
---
A final one for tonight. Thank fuck I hear you cry. Baby D.
Back in 1992 here in the UK, we had raves of 50,000 people with the likes of Fantazia and Helter Skelter. At that time they were the biggest raves on earth. I've linked some of the bigger tracks over the past few pages. The acid house sound got 'break-beatier' and the rave scene evolved. You can really hear in some of those tracks the evolution towards DnB.
Then in 1995 a seminal album landed. It was such a fresh sound, something so totally new hit the shelves that announced to the world that drum and bass had grown up.
If music can span generations, then this piece is it. If you like drum and bass but don't own this, then you're a bad person period. This is the full length 20 minute version. I'd be surprised if this wasn't already listed, but am I fuck going to check 19 pages.
Well i don't have that much drum & bass, got far more hardcore but i'll post some of my favourites from what i have

Nice tracks! The Earl Grey one I'd heard, but never knew the name, who'd of thought I'd of found out from an Aussie posting to an American gaming site Scottie, lovely tune, would definitely have to go in a short list for 'best of' from this era, it was actually pressed on yellow vinyl.
I have to ask iPlaY.NettleS, if you grew up with these earlier hardcore / dnb tracks or if you found them somehow later down the line? I'm really curious to learn how this early dnb sound spread to other countries, did you for example get vinyl imports from Europe or USA?
Anyhoo, Cloud 9 was another alias of Nookie, who undeniably was at the edge of this sound. This was from Volume 3. + Show Spoiler +

Here's one by The Brothers Grimm called Exodus.

D Livin - Why

Here's one by Goldie, this time remixing a tune by Deep Blue. There were 3 odd releases on a slice of 10" vinyl. This was by far the best.
And the original deep blue track.

Foul Play released some blinding dnb back in the day - with a strong ambient streak. I recall reading that they stopped releasing stuff as one of the crew died (in a car crash I think). Great shame. This is a remix of theirs by Omni Trio, if you like the early ambient sound, I'd strongly recommend you checking out his stuff, he's released about 6ish albums I think.

This one by Intense is sublime. The beats.. Hmmm.. kinda sound chopped up a little... You'll have to trust me and wait for the break. We are the music makers! As I was looking for this on youtube, I saw that Earl Grey released a track on this very piece of vinyl. Sadly never owned it myself
Well i'm 30 and have been listening to this style for about 15 years now but this stuff was reasonably popular here back in the day and even the odd set of it still gets played nowdays.I never played it out (2007-2009) myself i mostly played 94-97 hardcore because they were young crowds who liked faster stuff.
Anyway i have been posting on backtotheoldskool.co.uk forums since 2002, also have my own soundcloud with some of my own work in that older 1990-1992 style here https://soundcloud.com/greenberg , free downloads there if you appreciate any of the tracks.
Strangely while i seem to be making a number of that style tracks i don't listen to it as much anymore, i have been buying plenty of acid techno the past couple years.Been a really good couple years for vinyl releases with the acid techno.
