it depends on the type of beer
if it's Guiness stout I don't believe I could stomach 8 simply because it is so thick
American lager I've drank nearly twice that when I was younger, but that isn't saying much, because the alcohol percent is so low.

In college, being broke, I would make an effort to leave for the bars slightly dehydrated, so I'd get a lot more out of my beers than otherwise. I avoided getting called out by the simple act of being really skinny at the time (I'm about 6'1 but I only weighed around 165).

Guiness is actually the beer I remember drinking the biggest quantity in one stand. It might be thick but what really matters after the first 2-3 pints is the alcohol. Belgian beer on the other hand. I remember (barely) a night when I drank 4 pints of Kasteel beer and that got me completely wasted.

Depends on the consumtion over time aswell as prior alcohol consumption as it increases the livers function or destroying the alcohol exponentionally (untill it fails and you get wasted from half a pint)

Seems like average TLer can drink 2 bottles of vodka, 20 litres of beer, then have 5 shots of absinth and go wrestle a bear (and win). As for me - after two beers I know I drunk some alcohol, 4-6 I'm pretty drunk, 8+ won't end well. Btw, isn't a pint more like 450 ml? Nawe, not a bear. Definitely a moose though.

Well, maybe I should clarify, what do you mean by "tolerance"? At 8 or more I'm not blacked out and not throwing up, but I'm definitely roaming around being drunkardly. He is talking about beer. Not the less calories, less taste, more light water thimbles in the states ![]() Ha, my school on campus doesn't even allow those light beers. It's funny, if you ask for something like a Bud Light the typical response is "we don't serve shitty beers here, sorry." I remember when someone asked if they had Shock Top once, and the owner responded with that exact same line, and the guy just stood there, pondered, and asked, "but... that's why I asked if you carried Shock Top." Pub owner stares at him, says "SORRY, NO SHITTY BEER, order now or move so I can help the next person." PS. I like Shock Top though even if it's not exactly a classy beer .

I see no difference in my play while drinking the first .5L of the night... I almost feel like a play a little better (shut out outside distractions) But after a finished .5L (fine i'll call it a pint) and drinking the second one my play starts to deteriorate quickly, very quickly... After 2 pints I don't ladder...

On average though I could comfortably drink 8 pints over an evening at the pub without becoming too obnoxious.

It can range from ~0 to ~10% (in same cases even higher, but that's no longer a beer, really). You drink what you like the most.
