My drinking depends on the circumstances. Warm weather increases my tolerance, so does me being fit. If it's hot and I'm fit I can literally drink all day with no ill effects. English winter, give me 4 pints and I'm pretty drunk. I rarely drink nowadays so 2 pints and I'm anyones, makes me a nice cheap drubk!

So 3-4 beers to get a good buzz and one beer every 30m after that to keep riding that buzz.

1 pint is approximately 0.5L If we take 5% (which is not a lot I think) average it means 1 pint is 25mL of alcohol, so around 19,72 g of alcohol. I'm taking a formula from wikipedia to calculate an approximation of the quantity absorbed by the body(it's in french http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcoolemie) : T = (q)/(Kxm) T is the rate of alcohol in your blood in gram of alcohol per liter of blood. q is quantity of alcohol in mL K is the coefficient of absorbtion (.7 for men) m is the weight of the person (I'll take 80Kg ~176lbs) So for one pint you have T = 0.35g/L Now I'll translate in BAC for our american friends (or others i don't know what country uses what to measure alcohol consumption) 1 pint = 0.35g/L = 0.035 % 2 pints = 0.7g/L = 0.07 % Now for 8 pints 2.8g/L = 0.28 % If you search a bit on the internet you'll see that if you're not a severe alcoholic, at 0.28 % you're probably unconscious or crawling pretending you're a legless monkey. So yeah at 8 pints of beer, unless you're drinking them in 8 hours which doesn't really count for eight beers because if it counts I've been drinking a thousand beers in a thousand day and I'm not drunk, the average people is not drunk, he is looking brain dead. I know I'm answering to some kind of mass troll but I was bored at work. Kids don't drink 8 pint in 2 hours, it's not a good idea.

Drunk driving is stupid and we all told him to just walk with us and he got what he deserved for it. Yes, according to some "statistics" me and basically all my friends are alcoholics. Like everyone else that on a weekend is drinking more than iirc 3 drinks in 2 hours?...

while the poll somewhat mitigates my worries of drinking too much, it strangely reminds me of this ancient tl.net gem: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=35209

For Americans, 8 pints is LESS than a 12 pack. :/ It's 10 and 2/3 beers. This seems like a pretty slow night at the bar if I'm trying to get drunk. If I'm buying beer to go to a house party I buy at least 18... Maybe I am, in fact, some type of beer drinking god of tolerance... I dunno, I don't drink that much anymore since I graduated college, so I can't go with the alcoholic label. Am I doing something wrong? or is American beer just THAT low in alcohol content that it's impossible to get drunk off of it.

A guiness has 7.5% tho... so your 12 "US pints" would be like 10 European ones. I just think most ppl in this thread have no idea what they are talking about. 8 pints isn't that much.
