Please guys don't go out experimenting tonight!
Just curious. How BAMF are tl members in a pub/how broke do they get after a night out at the local tavern? (this poll is for pints.) (1 pint = 500ml) (1 1/2 of 330 bottles = 1 pint.)
In terms of beer. by pints. 8 pints=4 litres. 2 pints =1 litre.
For the folk going in by hard spirits....That's hard to say. After serious experimentation with hard liquor. Nothing nails me down. But the ones mixed with something fizzy. So I guess hard liqueur is hard to quantify.
Poll: How many pints?8 or more (331) 41% None I don't drink. (216) 27% 6 (83) 10% 4 (65) 8% 3 (37) 5% 5 (34) 4% 2 or less than (33) 4% 7 (11) 1% 810 total votes Your vote: How many pints? (Vote): None I don't drink. (Vote): 2 or less than (Vote): 3 (Vote): 4 (Vote): 5 (Vote): 6 (Vote): 7 (Vote): 8 or more
What brought this on? + Show Spoiler + I've got a flat out empty stomach but I was having a crap day so I went off to have a pint. Yes just a pint. Let's just say I could be better.
Edit: somehow my polls are always vague. Sigh.

For me it's usually around the 4th beer I start to feel anything, so I'd say 3 is my tolerance.

i dunno what it translates to but i commonly will drink more than 12 beers in a night in american terms
|
How exactly do you define tolerance? Amount before you feel anything, tipsy, drunk, puking, or in the hospital?
|
It depends on what my aims are. If I'm just going casually with mates, it'll be around the 4/5 mark. If it's as a place before going to a club it can be anywhere upwards of 10, although I usually just buy a crate from the supermarket as it's a tad cheaper.
|
How in the world is the threshold so low at "8 or more"???
Well, maybe I should clarify, what do you mean by "tolerance"? At 8 or more I'm not blacked out and not throwing up, but I'm definitely roaming around being drunkardly.

What's a pint? A liter?
On a normal Friday I'll drink about 3 liters with my buddy's and be pretty ok. After the 4th 5th depending on the speed of the intake it starts to get bad...
I hardly drink any hard alcohol, beer's awesome :D
EDIT: Ok so an Imperial pint is 568 milliliters.
That means I can have about 9 pints in the course of 2-3 hours and be as good as sober when talking to somebody (depends on food of course)
If I'm taking down more than 4/5 pints and hour i'll be drunk >.>

lol really depends on what I've eaten that day but usually the 2nd PINT I'll start to feel something - after the 4th, I feel a bit less... Then there are night that I split a 18pack with a buddy and don't remember how the beers disappeared (not related to memory loss)

Sooooooooo expensive to go drinking heavily, so I've started nursing my pints, and getting good stuff instead. Drinking to get drunk doesn't work for me.....
|
depends on the alcohol content. 40% i can prob finish 750 mL.
|
After a certain age you stop counting them .
|
Im not sure what you mean by tolerance, do you mean the amount before you start to become properly drunk? about 10 pints for me but 6 gets me in that happy chill state.
|
3-4 beers before feeling it, I'm a lightweight.
|
For me it's entirely based on the amount of food I've eaten, my level of hydration before and while drinking, and the amount of sleep I've gotten. If I've eaten normally, had plenty of water, and gotten plenty of sleep, I can easily pack away 10+ beers and be quite coherent and functional (I drink a glass of water between every 3 beers or so). Inversely, if I've gone for a while without eating, been dehydrated, or gotten very little sleep, 3-4 beers can have me walking on my lips.

Lightweight so 4 beers usually

Depends on a million factors. Sometimes I don't feel safe to drive after one pint, sometimes I feel sober after several.
|
depends.
last weekend I had about 5 pints but I ate a ton of food, and I literally felt nothing
on St Patrick's Day I had a few drinks after class on an empty stomach and I was feeling pretty drunk after like 4 pints
I guess I'm a 6 pint'er or so

At mardi gras a couple weeks ago the only things i consumed on fat tuesday were a bowl of gumbo, 750ml of vodka and 1 liter of mountain dew. It was a good day.
