Reminds me of a time a guy came into the room I was in complaining "When there are five urinals people should go to 1, 3, and 5. I just walked in and there were people at 1 and 4 WTF!?"

? :D
I'd take the left one in the corner, too

my choice depends on the configuration of the room really, I didn't clearly get what the OP proposed but I'd take the right if I came from that angle :

However I'd take the left urinal in that situation (because of the walking distance obviously) :

why is everyone picking left? are they assuming the sink is to the right of the wall stalls?
arent left and right the same

Which urinal caaaann I taakkkeee???
I normally take a stall or urinal that is the farthest out or closest to the door, they are alwasy cleaner because less people use them.

Obligatory: + Show Spoiler + Anyway, to the point... men's restrooms are one of the most eficient facilities ever created, have you ever seen a line inf front of the men's bathroom? The answer is never... however, this depends on a set of rules, which include respecting other people's personal space... in this case, the most eficient way to maximize it, is by choosing the leftmost urinal, to allow the 1st and 3rd to be alvailable... I wonder if it's true that the 2nd and 4th are the least used urinals in all restrooms arround the world...

Well, I think the no-line occurrence at men's rooms relies heavily on, not the infrastructure of our bathroom, but rather our ability to stand while urinating, hence the feasibility of urinals. Whereas women won't have that luxury.

That vid was funny until about the middle when it got really stupid. I think the most important thing about urinal etiquette is to always look straight ahead and never down. If you're looking down, even if you're not looking at anything in particular, you will make yourself and those around you uncomfortable whether you know it on not. If you look straight ahead, there's no way you can be mistaken for looking anywhere untoward, and you won't mistake others in the same way. Oh, and don't fart at the urinal, it's awkward.
|
Taking the middle is a dick move, so to speak. Urinal etiquette is to pick the one furthest from other pissers. By taking the middle one of three, if someone comes in after you, they must either take one adjacent or go into a stall. Better to pick one on the end if they are all empty.
Edit: Urinal etiquette only applies in the United States. My experience in South America and Europe has been that they are much more relaxed about urinating. In Germany they often have long troughs rather than individual urinals.
|
I find it hilarious that so many of you are insecure about peeing in public. Who the hell pees in a stall when there is an available urinal, just because they don't want someone peeing next to them? It's really not that awkward of a situation, people pee all the time.
|
I always take the middle one, that way if I 'lose control' I have a shot at landing some urine in the adjacent receptacles, or at least having it absorbed by some fabric instead of spilling onto the floor
|
Who makes up this terrible minority of people taking the middle? Guarantees to screw the next guy out of a comfortable experience. :O
|
I normally take the one nearest to me when I walk in the bathroom. If there is anything but the middle available, I'll just simply wait for someone to finish.
|
about time we got a serious discussion here
for some reason i always go right, eventough i am a lefty, dunno why :3
|
I would usually take the left up against the wall. I prefer to take the one that is first visible and not next to another man if that is possible.

Once I asked why do girls go in couples... one of the most common answer was "because che chat is nice"... however, it's true that they have a lot more technical dificulties, thus, increasing the time spent there... maybe architects and engeneers should consider increasing the number of stalls in women's restrooms (specially, since female humans are more common than males)... ahh, humanity...

The public washroom I use most often has this layout...
![[image loading]](http://i54.tinypic.com/ok3509.jpg)
In order of preference: Green - only 2 sides of exposure. People turning into the area see my back and only my back, regardless of which urinal they go to. Also, closest to the sinks if you only consider the "good" spots Blue - only 2 sides of exposure but it's more exposed than Green. Not a bad choice. Yellow - Not great. 2 sides of exposure but it's even more exposed than Blue when people are turning that corner. The other 2 are a last resort. Particularly the bottom one.

well, yes in most of the western world but not globally. Globally men are in the majority.

I take the middle one to troll my co-workers if I'm at work...
