Went quite a way trough this thread again this evening and I cannot describe how beautifull and profound these pictures are. If I ever find the time I might try to get them all into a zip file or something.

this is what you see when you point the most powerful telescope we have at an area of the sky that appears to be completly black. every spot of light in this picture is a galaxy , containing millions or billions of stars

Looks like the trees are in the shadow of the sand dune and the light orange is the part of another sand dune illuminated by the sunlight thus creating the color contrast.

Sorry, but I'm not quite sure what's so impressive about this photo... If Vladimir Putin visited the US, it's not like it'd be hard to get a CIA agent to pose as an ordinary crowd member at a public appearance.
On another note - dinosaurs are amazing:

Probably because he ended up as a future President of Russia.

I would post a gif image of a Mexican drug cartel member, getting beheaded by a chainsaw, but that shit is too graphic, if you're curious look it up yourself on google, but I promise you won't ever get that image out of your head.

How I wish there were livestreams that just showed what a super-powerful microscope like that could see 24/7

In fact, this kind of image could only be achived with long exposure astrophotography, you can't just point hubble a bref moment and expect this kind of result.

One wish i have that i will never see fullfilled is to visit another planet with another intelligent race. When you see pictures like this its impossible to think we are alone. Thats not even the proper picture btw, the proper one is much much larger. The universe is so big that it boggles my mind. How i wish that we could properly know how other solar systems and their planets looked like, and what else lies out there.

Meh, that's like an ant telling another ant they wished they could see the giants. But what interest will it be to those ants to see humans eating, shitting and sleeping. When looking through the pictures in this thread, there are far more urgent wishes that should be prioritised, such as ending world hunger and disability etc.
