really sounded like keanu reaves to me first time around has this characteristic sighing while talking. But hey Bale has about the same sighing in his speech so who knows.
i cant wait to see what special effects they'll have up their sleeves for this movie.. they better make the characters move really nice or else this new concept will be instantaneously rejected by true MK fans
if all the characters have different backstories, is it really the MK characters? Why bother using their names then? Oh yeah, gamers everywhere will jizz because of it

I still don't believe it's even real, but the footage proves me wrong I guess.
It feels as a cheese-fest, a good quality one, but still. I would watch that movie for old times sake and a good laugh.
P.S. It feels as if they really wanted to make it as real as possible, not bad concept, but then why bother with MK and the character names, lore and reality barely link.

Wait, you'd rather have Johnny Cage as a main character than Scorpion?
Not to uhh judge you or anything, but ARE YOU GAY?
Actress Jeri Ryan of Star Trek: Voyage fame appears as Sonya Blade in a Mortal Kombat trailer dubbed "Mortal Kombat: Rebirth" that popped up online. Is it a game trailer? A movie trailer? Tell us, Jeri, tell us!
"Okay, so... Mortal Kombat," she tweets. "It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film."
Ryan said she did her role as a favor to a friend. "No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was," she adds. I can tell you what my reaction was: stoked.
While a Mortal Kombat film was directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (of Resident Evil movie fame) in 1995, an updated take on the franchise has been languishing in development hell. However, a lawsuit has been filed by the development partner of the original film as it signed a contract in 2006 to do a sequel.
The Mortal Kombat: Rebirth short was helmed by Kevin Tancharoen. He directed last year's Fame remake.
Personally I think it's a short video made to hype up a new MK game. Some argue that this is too "high quality" to be such a device, however, simply look at the Assassins Creed 2 episodes as a similar example. The MK franchise needs a bit of love since the last few games haven't had the greatest reception, so hyping the new game and highlighting the more realistic/grittier style seems like a good choice of advertising to me.
Either way though, game or movie, I'm pretty excited.
