It's got the awesome fight scenes and gore, clearly. That IS the Mortal Kombat spirit. Unless you're referring to crappy dialogue?
This movie looks awesome, IMO

Well, TO ME MK for sure is not JUST fighting. Otherwise every fighting movie will be my favourite:D Its more about the story and the atmosphere, u know other dimension ( the outworld ) trying to overcome ours, trying to prevent the end of it all and stuff interfering with gods and all. While this looks more like an ordinary action film to me. It dosent have that atmosphere It might turn to be realy good, but from what ive seen on the video for now, i dont like it Ofcourse thats my view, maybe most of the people wont see it my way

Haters gonna hate no matter what the premise is.

Shit just jumped from 300 to 2mill views in just under 2 days. Wow. Looks awesome too.

didnt read the whole thread but in case you guys haven't noticted it yet:
Update: Actress Jeri Ryan, the actress portraying Sonya Blade in the video, has confirmed via Twitter that this is a short film created by a director to sell Warner Bros. on his Mortal Kombat pitch. "It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film," Ryan says on her Twitter page, adding " I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was." Thanks to Zimnick for pointing us towards Jeri's updates!
So yeah.. even if this should eventually result in a real movie at all... it'll surely take a long time

Well, it's hardly like a bad movie will ruin the franchise...Especially given people are still pumped for a new film after the first two.

Yea yea whatever, PC is boring.
I'll be honest in my assessment. The fact that the first two mortal kombat movies were PG13 was a travesty. How you make a movie from a notoriously gorey game series a PG13 rating (thereby holding the producer back) is beyond me.
The society nowadays is more liberal in that regard I guess. Now it takes a 13 year old girl conducting mass murder for anyone to even say a word about what they see in a movie. MK series needs a reboot. The outworld thing is done to death and pretty much forever tainted because of just how awful the 2nd movie was.
It does have MK's primary atmosphere though, which is the whole gritty and gorey fighting that I've come to relate to the whole MK thing.

i hope this doesnt become dragon ball evolution part 2..

Looking over this and realizing it's a pitch film really makes me think. I am not a big Mortal Kombat guy, I am aware of it I've played some of the games but it's not really my thing. From an outsiders perspective this draws me in. A fringe science Mortal Kombat premise actually looks pretty god damn epic.
I am aware some of the details are incorrect and the hardcore fans are going to be fairly up in arms about it but honestly some things just don't translate over to movies from games(looking at you Mario). If you want to make a good video game movie you can't just copy paste. You have to actually explain some things and you can't just throw out "another dimension" and expect most people to accept it. This pitch if done right into a full feature would most likely do quite well and please most fans and newcomers to the franchise. Hard core fans and those suffering with nostalgia will hate it but still watch it and secretly enjoy it. Here's to hope Warner picks it up and runs with it.

If its real its kinda further proof the series is struggling I thought their team up with DC was big proof with that.

looks pretty awesome to me, especially for a low budget trailer.
