http://www.collider.com/2010/06/09/kevin-tancharoen-interview-mortal-kombat-rebirth-feature-film I think the biggest shock is the fact he only spent $7500 to shoot the bloody thing. In the end, it's his pitch for the next movie.

The director of that short said he wanted to get Warner Bros' attention (they now own the rights to MK), and possibly get them on board for a new Mortal Kombat movie. I think the Original Post should be updated with this link: http://kotaku.com/5559726/how-the-mortal-kombat-short-was-made-and-what-happens-next P.S. MK9 Looks fuckin sweet

and the pitch is great, and it's gotten almost 3 million views in what? 3 days? If that's not enough to get them to say yes, I don't know what is. I'm sure this'll get signed on. and I think it's pretty great that the director is apparantly such a big fan of the series. I read that interview and I like his vision.

Heck does anyone remember how silly some of the fatalities actually were? + Show Spoiler + MK was always OTT and sometimes camp which I think is where the series charm came from. The original MK film kinda captured that feel and in its own way was pretty awesome. The SMB movie analogy was that- I feel this film in attempt to be like its contemporaries is missing the essence of what made the source material. I guess I'm just sore that there arent any ninjas in the trailer. ![]()
