A pretty solid article about Kobe from a Lakers fan that includes discussion of Simmons' recent Kobe article:

The Simmons' article referenced:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/090616&sportCat=nba

I might be biased as a Lakers' fan, but I think most people that have kept up with this thread would agree that I'm about as objective of a basketball fan as you'll see here. I liked the article and I liked that it called out Simmons' clearly-biased article about Kobe. I know that Kobe is far from perfect and easy to hate, but Simmons' Boston homerism was a bit too blatant in that article and it sounded like a bunch of whiny bitterness from a Kobe/Lakers-hater.

really good article

kind of unrelated... where the heck did the term 'homer' come from? I've literally never heard of that term until someone called me a Lakers homer awhile back in the NBA thread (ya, Lakers won the title you dumb motherfucker, sup now?)

Seeing as you're asking, here you go.

It means you're so homo for the lakers that it is extremely obnoxious. It means reading your posts is often like poison to the other forumgoers eyes. It means your clear bias is sickening. The very post before this one, is extremely obnoxious. It was TheMusic that said that about you. TheMusic is a cool guy. His word is legit.

Basically: Your word cannot be trusted on anything Laker / Kobe related because you have a poster of Kobe on your ceiling that has gotten much use.

Examples below:
Ace: A healthy fan of the Celtics. Like's it when they win and cheers for them. Comes off as a fan and not obnoxious. When talking about his team, you could trust his words and judgment.
Xeris: Gives the impression that he would really like to be in the locker room of the Lakers just to see naked Kobe and or get tag teamed by the entire Lakers team.
Infested: Creepy Utah dude. lol

Yes, that would be a homer. All of y'all hating on my Golden State prediction are going to be sore when they learn some discipline. They are going to draft a PG to anchor the team since Monta is a little punk and SJax is not a true PG.

I also fail to see how people continue to brag about picking the team with the best chance of going all the way as if they are some sort of basketball prophecy.

seriously if Golden State wins the NBA championship in the next 5 years I'd probably have to stop watching out shock.

No team is ever winning an NBA chip with Don Nelson coaching

But I also heard that Gordon’s agent allegedly has been saying he has an $11 million promise from the Pistons.
http://blogs.bulls.com/chicago_bulls_blog/2009/06/bulls-look-at-guards-who-may-be-in-their-future.html

Oh god no.

Still, Alston said if he returns for next season, Nelson would be the team's starting point guard.

"That's our all-star point guard," Alston said. "He's done a lot for this team before he got hurt. He put that team as one of the top five teams in this league. I'm going to compete anyway. I'm going to push him in practice. That's what I've learned to do. We'd push each other. We'd make each other better."
I think I just became a fan of Alston. I still don't think he can be a starting PG, but I'll take him as a backup.

What!? Shhh I'm not raging. And how dare you even think of sabotaging the team. There's 3 other players on the team that you'd be hurting. What a horrid idea to contemplate.

I gotta disagree with you there HT. I have never heard anyone refer to Kobe as a "slasher". Not in print media, not on TV broadcasts and not on the radio. I could be wrong but I believe the term slasher is used to refer to an athletic wingman whose main offensive weapon is to "slash" to the basket which implies that they have a suspect J. Guys like Kobe and MJ are better at "slashing" than anyone else in the league but they were never referred to as "slashers" (except during their early career when their jumpshots were not developed) because they possessed a refined offensive game. Every single time I've heard someone called a slasher on a TV broadcast, it was a quick athletic wing player that had a suspect J.

So, what's going to happen to Boston next year? =o

If they can get healthy and stay that way, they could do a lot of damage. Just look at what they were able to do with their depleted roster this postseason. If they can pick up some solid backups at PG and C in addition to staying healthy, they could be really dangerous next year. Personally, I think Ray, Pierce and KG have enough for one more title run, barring injury.

P.S. The development of Big Baby and Perkins during the postseason cannot be ignored either.

People are saying the age will be a factor for the big 3 but i don't know i agree with you that they definately have one more title run in them. Orlando and boston would be sick to watch for conferance final but i still want cavs to make it out of those 2
Ya well, at least I don't fuck a fleshlight with a condom on and cry at the same time.

Orlando has no chance to beat a healthy Boston. I said it before when Orlando was heating up in the regular season all up into Rondo putting the hurt on Jameer Nelson and the Magic.

Cleveland has the ability to knock Boston out though :/

I also don't agree with the age argument, as if an NBA player hits 30 and forgets everything they've learned for the past decade+ and can no longer move.

Boston, assuming health isn't a problem are my title favorites for next year based on current NBA rosters.
