haha well I am too stupid to realize that! Was so busy paying attention to the note and cursors I didn't even realize the background was shown now and then.

I can see the background all the time at that level of dimness, because my monitor has weird gamma curve at low end

I have brightness and contrast very low on my monitor which could be why as when I look closely I can see parts of the outlines of the background, though faintly.
I have contrast very high. If i train, or play seriously, i play with some brightness (20/100), and if i'm relaxing (ironically when most good ranks are achieved) no brightness, but full contrast.
Messing with brightness/contrast screws monitor calibration
As for the difficulty change.. There's some stuff with the new above-insane icon that i don't feel really belongs, as the first map i picked up with the icon i fc'd blindly with ~98.5% ac
Trying to learn to stream, etc have some level of consistency, not fail a map three times before being able to transition in/out of any streams (big or small)
I came to realize that i never really had >any< level of competence here. Where do i start with hand position? I've heard "just hit stuff however it's comfortable" etc just like i've heard "just use mouse how it's comfortable" but even there i was extremely uncomfortable for like a year before reading and thinking a lot about basic control things, so I'm not actually really sure what to do other than "hit the keys"
I can burst (5 circle stream) about 240bpm but i'm uncomfortable with 180bpm for a med length stream and 160 for longer ones. I need to get that 160 to 220-230 while improving level of comfort and also consistency, where to start and wtf should i be doing with my hand/finger/wrist/arm?
Here's my best right now:
I keep dropping one or two hits mid-stream (like failing to keystroke properly) which means immediately correcting it by making vast changes in tempo, or taking a miss, and both of those seem like terrible options. It happens with a frequency of about 5-10 times on a 4 minute map
But your posture looks really weird to me. I can't really imagine how it works. Like i said before in this thread, i play osu the same way as i play the piano. As an example: + Show Spoiler +
Look at the video 32 seconds in. That's exactly how i put my left hand. Osu play of course, is a lot more static then this, you can just keep your hand at the same place. Especially the position of the hand relative to the keys is important here. If you have a piano nearby, you might want to get the feel there, before transferring it to computer keyboard. As for gaining streaming ability, play a lot of streamy maps. Begin slow stream, end at a bpm just above your comfort zone (which isnt where you can stream 3 notes, that's not a stream; i call comfort zone where you will never fail a 9 note stream). Also, in my view, your mindset should be so that every note is a conscious note. You have to feel the note in the rythm. That's also why i always recommend playing slow streams, they are out of your comfort zone not because of the speed, but mainly because the connection between fingers and music is tested. Starting slow is key to gaining consistency. Build up in speed, but never stop practicing slow. Rythmical consistency should not be dependent on bpm. Or that's the ideal you're looking for.
https://osu.ppy.sh/s/43701, i think you have this map already, but it's quite useful. The 'AAA' difficulty has a ridiculously long stream, i believe >100 notes. Just play that a few times a day, just to gain stamina. Also, a good way to tell if you can play comfortly on a certain bpm, is to play rythmically diverse maps. This and this map come to mind. Comfortly playing 170 bpm, results in at least 95% on nature of dying. This is how one tests your comfort zone. There are also some good dt maps for this purpose.
Hope this is helpful. Note that everything here is personal opinion, i actually dont know what im talking about except by my own experience.

You might have this or similar alleready but https://osu.ppy.sh/b/207692&m=0 that is at least a stream pack with different bpms and all maps are just 1 or 2 long continous streams that go in a decently shaped square, for stamina I think they are really good to play at least.
@ cyro: dont look too much into where the hand is relative to the body (not based on the video at least). I was purely talking about the position of the hand relative to the keys.
Finally passed this: Very happy with it, as it is a 220 bpm quite intense map. ar9 combined with the jumps are quite hard, and it has some streamy parts. Curse me for being a slow player TT It's getting better though.
On that map, i know; In general, quite a few are (i advanced skill a lot and need to go back and deal with mental side of aiming, plus a few posture things, and also not play in the 4'th quarter of day) - just not all of them. I miss a lot due to fails with keyboard hand, such as triples that are stacked on one spot, just outright failing to hit keystroke on the third circle
Ty for vid valar, it was a somewhat angry post as i'm sure is probably obvious
I'm way better than i used to be, at everything, some things much more than others but standards rose way faster than skill in some areas
It's amazing how much stuff i am improving/fixing by altering simple things like mouse grip, small posture adjustments and changing fingertip angle on keys, though. I feel like there should be more guides/discussion for this if it's so important
I am using unlimited, vsync 120 feels bad in comparison and vsynced 60 feels amazingly terrible (no idea how anybody can play anything with vsynced 60fps)
Triple buffering i thought i could maybe force it on through driver. I'l check again using opengl render, though most people should just use unlimited FPS in basically every case, if i can triple buffer 120 well with raw input it might be nice because i have strobe monitor
edit: nah can't really do it, too much added input lag
You know how triple buffering works? It's adds more input latency than vsync, but prevents fps drops like vsync.
Theres no reason to Vsync/triple buffer in osu because the screen doesn't even move so you don't get screen tearing anyways, so there's no upside to enabling it.
