I got asked this question while being online, and the person who asked me went offline after i answered. His name was Cence99. Is there anyone who knows this person? Or maybe he cares to continue the conversation himself, as the question suggest he has seen this thread before. Such a strange question ):
Partly the reason im asking was that it felt a bit aggressive (the question i gave here wasnt asked through these exact words, it was slightly different), as if i was using the thread to wrong ends.
Might also be that he was just trolling, or im just thinking too much into it. Doesnt really matter, but it confuses me somewhat.
Any tips on how to learn to play DT other than "just play DT a lot"?
A few of the insane lobbies I have been joining lately play maps like mitis - open window on DT and maps in that area, and it is just too much notes for me to singletap yet not exactly threes or streams that I am used to double tapping so I just plain fail them.
Also seen some of the high scores on la di da DT being almost only singletaps, so I suppose my question is mostly how to get better at singletapping? If it is just play DT then song recommendations are highly welcomed, feels kinda similar to trying to learn streaming but at least streaming practice I know have tons of dedicated maps at different bpms to practice on so it was easier for me to approach

Hm, personally i dont really like dt much, as it changes the music a lot; it feels somewhat unnatural.
General tips on it: because the music is altered, focus on beat, rather then music. I had some problems with trying to feel songs when playing with dt. After i stopped doing that, it went a lot better. Some people seem to forget that od gets harder with dt. The room for mistakes is smaller. If you play one song bpm=140 and od=7, with dt, and then a song bpm=210 and od=7, the time interval around a note that gives you a 300 is 1.5 times as small at the dt map, even though the bpm and od are the same. Check this table for reference. It contains the timely intervals giving you 300/100/50/miss. (although i dont really understand what the frames part means...) So if you want to get better at dt, play songs at 'high' od. I'd recommend editing slow (140 ish bpm) anglehoney maps into the ar you're used to and into the od you really think is challenging (i'd think at least 9). Play them without dt. Focus on ryhtmic correctness, missing a note may be frustrating, but it's not a goal of this exercise. Change circle size if necessary. If you think you got the hang of it, you can do 2 things to make it harder rythmically: make the song od=10 and change the ar into ar7 or even lower. Low ar/high od is a deadly combination. For example: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/23437. I played this map at od10 and ar6. After like 10 tries i had like 90% as best score. And i had to concentrate pretty darn hard to get that TT. While practicing this, also practice the dt maps you want to play themselves.
tldr: slow streams at high od (or also low ar, if you feel like it) as well as speedy maps, where the specifics at speedy maps are not as relevant.
If you want maps to get better at single tapping, i have a few suggestions. I dont really know which bpm range you're looking for, though, so i'll give a few: 220 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/22182 insane diff. No triples or streams (as far as i can remember). Some jumps, but imo not the biggest deals. 230 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/44898 collab diff. Some triples, somewhat hard aim, rythmically interesting features. I think getting an A here, gets you very far at 210 bpm dt songs. 240 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/28893 insane diff. Easier then the 230 song. Aim about as hard, but less triples and a shorter song. Fun to play :D Beware of the last slider, it killed my first try TT 250 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/25931 Speed diff. Pretty good map, feels very natural. Difficulty here is more being used to fast n circles -> slider patterns then anything else, but it's still good to be able to. 264 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/21844 Rin diff. Although the map site says otherwise, this map mainly isnt 90 bpm. It's 132 bpm, and you have to single tap the streams for burst fast single tap practice (up to 7 notes or so). Might want to change the ar, though. Also, this map is very good as slow stream practice map. 272 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/31750 lks diff. Very very hard map with some streamy parts. Aiming is also quite hard. Very useful practice if you're looking to master 270 bpm single tapping. 290 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/47146 cider diff. Single tap spaced streams. Not much to say here. 300 bpm: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/34469 insane diff with dt: also very, very hard. Nearly no streams, but rythmically very interesting map.
I hope this suggests what you need Im sure other people can think of better things, but it's a start. (xafnia, you have much better map knowledge then me, i think )
3600 dpi and finger grip, which worked great for starcraft

You're not trying to get good at DT, you're trying to get good at X bpm, OD, map style etc. DT or not is just if the map is fast or etc. There are some maps without DT, that play exactly like others with DT, it's just a matter of the speed that they are mapped to
La di da DT, which map is this? Can you link me?
I was blown away after playing for a while at the speed that some people singled. Since then, i increased my speed by a comfortable ~30% and it's still rising quite fast. You need to play to challenge yourself, and often you were using a bad way of pressing the button etc. I use X as primary with thumb supporting the bottom joint on index finger

I wouldn't say im skeptical but i have my doubts as well, as i always adjust my sensitivity downward when playing starcraft. Might be a personal preference, but due to the bursty style of clicking compared to osu, id say accuracy is more important then speed.

The lowest bpm you listed is actually the only map I had found prior to asking here that was proving very helpful to play, and I have played it to the point of being able to keep up, I just couldn't find any songs after that. So going to check out the other ones you suggested and hopefully it is just what I am looking for
Also my by far main concern with this is speed, I feel accuracy wise I can just play high OD, but currently I simply get misses every 2-5 notes at most fast songs because I can't tap it fast enough.

And yeah it is fast bpm really, I just figured it easier to explain with DT, as pretty much every DT I play ends up being those fast maps I can't keep up with tapping, while my issue with most other difficult maps I play is not tapping speed but most other elements of osu ._.
And yeah I searched la di da on osu and see your problem now Cyro with finding it! Here it is: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/17852
People singletap(except for like 4 notes) that with DT at 97%+ acc, which is a speed way beyond me and one I currently have no idea how to reach; hopefully Yorbons map recommendations will help with that.
Also the DPI change for starcraft basicly let me sacrifice aim for speed, I had a very good aim from years of FPS, but lacked the speed so it was basicly a shortcut to getting speed, which is my biggest regret in my gaming life ._. I would have gotten the speed with some more months of practice, while keeping my aim, which is now absolutely horrible in comparison; so shortcuts don't pay off :D
edit: tried out most of them now, and before the 272 it seemed like stuff I could practice, at 272 and up it was just no chance :p but still 4 new maps to practice :D and I also got a new okawari song which I am very happy with, though I think non DT will prove enough for a while :D
editedit: also as a sidenote, if anyone has more songs like flower dance I would love to have them, have luv letter and croatian rhapsody that I feel are in the same group

I really like this map and IMO it is best done entirely with singles. It's not the fastest i've seen/done but it will probably trip you up a lot, especially at the chains such as ~0:54
For an example of what i mean by index finger supported by thumb:
You can turn off DT for any of them to practice, as well as some others. There's a map called Asgard -something that i play too that was completely beyond me at first, that's mostly singles but sometimes forces you to hit ~4 circles in a row followed by a chain of singles, which is extremely hard to time properly. I can't FC and it's pretty stressful in a number of ways to do it, especially if you change AR from 9 to ~6-7 or 10 and increase OD
^there, stupid fails at start of the clip
With a map like Asgard, you can play half time, too.
DT is 1.5x speed. HT is 0.75x speed - it's not actually 0.5x speed, or 0.66x like i thought - so it's actually useful to practice stuff like this. It puts a 140bpm singles map at a manageable 105, which is way way less extreme but still worth playing
Edit: Would like to add since it's interesting: I seem to keep muscle memory fine when switching between say 360dpi, 810 and 1800. If i were to switch like 180dpi up/down though it would destroy my 810
Does anyone here use the mac client? I tried installing it and every song feels ridiculously offsync. Adjusting global offset doesn't really help either. Not sure if its just me or if this is a common issue, but I don't think I got that bad during my break.

That keyboard grip looks pretty alike to what I am doing so at least I have the right start :D
Got to try the maps and the first two were a bit slow, and by that I don't mean they were slow per say, but I could keep up fine (they were pretty fun to play so that was awesome :D) but the last one was fast, not too fast but fast enough that I can practice on it :D
I'd love that asgard map also but I got up like 5 different maps when I searched it with many difficulties which is a bit more than I felt like playing through ._. especially now that I have all these new maps to play :D
Also alleready seen progress so feeling particularly motivated this moment to get some good practice in!
edit: gave the holy order (272) another try and I am not dying before like 20 sec in! that is some great progress in my book editedit: lived till the first break even :D
SUPEREDIT: Was feeling I was playing really well now so gave Pretender a try, which I have attempted to pass over 100 times at least... And I passed! :D although very clumsy and barely ._. still a pass! oh and got +1pp for it even :')

Which one?
Also: The maps i gave you are slow with dt?
Did not think about there being several pretender until you made me curious and I searched it :D
The one from RLC
The first two ones were "slow" as in fast, but not fast enough for it to be a problem tapping wise, but the 3rd one was proving far more challenging tapping wise :p
If I say slow atm I mean tapping wise not tempo or even AR to avoid confusion! :D
Actually I figured I'll find the actual link to the pretender map incase people don't know it: https://osu.ppy.sh/s/79498
Also pssst: asking for that asgard link pretty please o.o
edit: must also say today has been one of those unbelieveable days, just been playing amazingly (compared to my usual), managed to have moderate success on a lot of Yorbons suggestions which when I first played them was very much not the case.
