You guys always say that, but whenever I'm in open space I meet geniuses with creative ideas which are so highly intelligent that they seem completely retarded to me. Either a master using drunken boxing or an idiot. In Eve, it's nearly impossible to distinguish the two until after the engagement. Im usually impressed if they manage to fill all their core (lows and mids) slots. Genius imo. So how long does it take for this stuff to make sense? Also, I realize you guys have the mentoring for newbies to learn, but I've got 2 days left in my contract at work and was wondering what would be the most useful stuff to study up on while I'm at work? Not that long for this example, the ship gets bonus's to lasers, this guy equiped 4 different types of gun onto it. This ship also has only one midslot, which should be reserved for a propulsion mod or a warp disruptor; but it has an ECCM. In the lows, there are officer mods, these cost billions of isk per mod, the entire ship hull costs 10 million isk, also there is a mod that buffs missiles, there are no missile launchers on this thing. This is an extremely obvious case, the trick is to know which fit is best when they are almost identicle, and be able to explain why.

If you mean skills wise, just get your rifter and fittings kills (engineering, electronics) up asap. If you mean reading strategy wise, I can't think of anything right now.
I'd say it was about a month and a half after starting eve when I was able to look at that thing you quoted and laugh.

Haven't downloaded the game yet (waiting until my job ends on Monday so I can throw a bunch of time into and hopefully avoid paying) so yeah, I'm talking mostly stuff that I could read up at work to help the learning curve (which seems massive).

So I pretty much took the day off today and yesterday to do some long-overdue EVEing.
+ Show Spoiler [A Trip To The Verge] +First thing I wanted to do was roam around towards http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Verge_Vendor/Ouelletta#sec for a few reasons. After being in Delve for so long, I really missed roaming around freely (in Delve there are fairly legit camps that require at least a few people to bust open, not the best for solo roaming). Also, the idea of Hatchery possibly moving out to Verge Vendor lowsec has been floated recently, and I was determined to check it out. There is a lot of FW presence between Saranen and there so I got a smattering of "engagements" that unfortunately never went anywhere. On the way down, I encountered a Raptor and his Maelstrom pal. Since I'm pirate, I need to wait for neutrals to attack me on gates/stations - so I often end up doing stupid shit like orbiting them in scram/web range. Fortunately for me, the Raptor was thoroughly skurrd so his Maelstrom buddy never got to 1-shot me. A Slicer is a fun frigate to fly in terms of frigate PvP, but it's quite weak against larger targets like Cynabals/Vagabonds and even the weaker cruisers because of the mechanics in play (no scram, no EHP, and cruisers can often easily deal damage at 20k where a Slicer wants to live). I saw an awful lot of solo Cynas/Vagas and things like Cyclones, Sleipnirs, Omen/Rupture gangs etc. that might be fun for cruiser or BC pilots to mess around with solo or in small groups. The famed Old Man Star ( http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Essence/Old_Man_Star#sec ) was only 1 jump off my destination so I checked it out to see what was going on. Naturally there were at least 5 t3s on scan (links much?) throughout the system. I isolated one of them (a Tengu) on a belt with a Drake. I warped in at range mostly just to watch and see if other smaller stuff came to support. The Tengu and Drake were "fighting" but both almost immediately turned on me once I got within ~30k or so. I wonder how many people die to that because they want to whore on a Tengu mail.
+ Show Spoiler [Honourwarlourd Battlars of Hevrice] +Ouelleta itself was pretty dead (with only a carebear and a cloaky alt in local), but I headed a couple of jumps over to Hevrice, which is known to be the home system of the Tuskers ( http://tuskers.killmail.org/?a=home ). There was all kinds of activity in system. While I was burning off a celestial scanning down a Malediction, it landed a bit off me and offered a fight. I grossly mispredicted its fit and assumed it was one of those LOL-6k/s-scram so I ended up overheating as I got close and burning around at 5.5km/s. Naturally he was AB fit so not only was I unable to keep good range on him, but I made him think twice about staying to fight. By the time I got myself under control, I was heavily burned in mids. I went in for one counter slingshot (where I heat MWD and double click directly towards them, hoping to land ~15-20km past them with the help of their web/scram) and ended up with 96% heat damage on MWD. I got a good landing, but he didn't play ball, and was OHing his AB directly away. By the time I turned MWD back on to give chase, he was 29km and gone. sigh I docked to repair and noticed a pirate Rifter 300k off station. After repairing, I burned over (assuming incoming blob or something, obvs) and just started to mess around within 20-30k to see what would happen. As a matter of fact, he was not preparing to blob whatsoever because he was TD/MWD fit and fully prepared to take me on himself. We spent quite a lot of time fighting off the station because I was terrible and was reading the wrong number in the Show Info on my guns (I was reading the damage multiplier instead of the optimal range). I "should" have been hitting him at 15km which was a safe range for me as he couldn't have a web, but I was getting nothing at all (in fact, if I'd have read correctly, my optimal was just barely over 10km). Eventually, I just went super-close until I was getting hits in, hoping to bust his armor through reps before he could finish me off. Unfortunately for him, he overshot me twice at 5-7km and ended up burning out his MWD, allowing me to get a series of really good hits on him for the finish( http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12319272 ). + Show Spoiler [Small Aside] + I've heard of TD rifters before and even theorycrafted fights against various things - but I'd never fought one before. It didn't really occur to me during the fight, but analyzing everything in detail reveals this to be possibly the best anti-Slicer fit you can make on a Rifter. The TD forces a maximum engagement range of about 12km - very unsafe for the Slicer if the Rifter overheats his MWD at the right time. If, after landing the scram, this Rifter had cut his max speed to half or so and turned off his MWD, I would very likely have been unable to track him with Scorch and just get pummeled as he repped the minimal damage I would do to him.
The next day, I log in, undock, and see a Taranis 100km off the station. It's neutral, and we end up brawling because I'm playing overcautious with GCC. Fortunately, 1) I have a ton of experience brawling Maledictions and Taranises and 2) he orbited at a range where it was too easy for me to hit him. I just barely eek out a win deep in hull ( http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=12327696 ).
+ Show Spoiler [A Coward's Shadow] +While roaming around http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Essence/Ladistier#sec and its neighbor Aeschee I saw an awful lot of horrible things like cloaky Proteus, Cynabals, various recons etc. An alliance called Shadow Cartel has a presence here, and the Rifter pilot from the day before warned me about their tendency to blob. I warp to a station in Aeschee at range, I get there just in time to see a Cynabal, Basilisk, and some other stuff dock. A Wolf undocks (lol) and I resign myself to making station safes. When I warp to station 2 to do the same, it brings out a bit of butthurt. + Show Spoiler [Chyat Lohgz] +Tornado Bait > ... DefMatrix Ultra > are you waiting on me or something? DefMatrix Ultra > not interested in fighting wolf tbh *Tornado Bait > because you suck DefMatrix Ultra > because i can do simple math Tornado Bait > so why are you still here DefMatrix Ultra > i'm new here DefMatrix Ultra > making safes etc. Tornado Bait > your going to live here? DefMatrix Ultra > maybe Tornado Bait > i hope so DefMatrix Ultra > bai for now, good luck finding more slicers to fight in your wolf + Show Spoiler [*] + A naked Wolf has 90% EM resist and 67.5% Thermal resist.
So I would do roughly 13.5 EM damage per shot and 9.75 Thermal damage per shot. This is about 6 EM DPS and 4 Thermal DPS for a combined total of 10 DPS... against a completely unfit Wolf (no damage control, no adaptive plating etc.), assuming perfect hits every time.
I had a look over the last ~10 months looking for solo kills: http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11872169http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11819552http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11817515http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11780514http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10919859http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11782202http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11781962http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11781637http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11785705http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=11786767http://teamliquid.killmail.org/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=10670854Clearly a venerable frigate PvP master.

Tried to brawl down a harpy + apoc in my enyo. Goal was to kill harpy and gtfo, turns out those bitches tank more then i expected and got popped due to warrior pressure from apoc right when harpy was entering structure.
Started playing around with aeth and jed in 2 drams + cane, went against 2 drake + 2 dram + jag + caracal, we smashed the jag quick, I decided to ram a dual web + neut drake in my dram because im fucking pro at eve (clicked align sun and apparently align sun means turn around and ram object). Aeth killed a shit-faction-fit dram and Jed barely missed the kill on the drake.
A good (bad) day in eve.

I looked at the op and I can't decipher this. What is the actual gameplay of EVE? I heard it was a glorified spreadsheet from some, but it's amazing from others. :/

Amarr space looks even better.

I contacted the eve-kill support team and they told me that they had temporarily disabled the stats module because it had started to spit out errors. Nice to see it back.

When Golem was considered the king of L4's the rattlesnake out preformed it.
When the Vargur was considered king of L4's the rattlesnake out preformed it.
Now that the mach is considered king of L4's the rattlesnake out preforms it.
Why is the rattlesnake not every considered the top L4 ship? Because people spend time on guns for pvp and not on drone/missles. As long as 3/4's of the players avoid heavy/sentry drones and those who do like drones stick with guns it will stay this way.
RS: Over 800 landible dps at very long range. Omni tank all L4's. Can run this way with a mwd for max speed and a nos to keep cap going even in missions that neut. Survives D/C's. Never waste a volley due to drones. Can pick dmg type.
Lol.
