So I took the journey, stopping in Teon to pick up an old rifter I had built for "solo" purposes, and made it to Amamake. I entered local and found that there were only 8 people there, which was suprising b/c I was expecting at least 20, but it didn't affect the amount of time I had to wait to find a fight. I made a safe, and started dscanning the asteroid belts. Found a merlin on the first belt (which sucks b/c I figured that would be too obvious and started dscanning in reverse order). I warp in 30km off and find just a lone merlin. Blood starts pumping, and I kick in the afterburners. I double click in space so I'm not flying directly at him and set my orbit to 2.5k DCU on? Check Scrammed and Webbed? Check Guns firing? Check Nos engaged? Checked So we trade blows and I drop into armor, sar II kicks in but I'm slowsly, ever so slowly dropping. Finally, I run out of cap while the merlin is sitting on 5-10% shields and I succumb to the darkness. I've already aligned and I warp of. gf typed in local. It is only at this point that I realize the entire fight I was using phased plasma as my ammo instead of emp s. Fuck. Tail between my legs I take the reaper, undock, and... Did I just undock while still on the timer? Yes, yes I did. Poof. Glad I learned that lesson in the reaper and not a ship I had to pay for. So I go back into the station, wait out the timer, and head to rens. I fully fit a new rifter that I think MIGHT have a shot at this guy, but server shutdown is coming so I have to hurry. Blunder #1. When you hurry and you're a shitty noob, you make mistakes. Mistakes like fitting an sar II, regular DCU, and a gyrostab in your lows. Refit and ready for round 2 I head back to Amamake, only to find that the merlin who killed me is being ransomed for 500m... needless to say the merlin pilot gives the hostage taker a giant middle finger and is blown into dust. ((The hostage taker managed to sell his corpse for 10m if local is to be believed)) Now I have no target, so I head back to a new safe I've made and start dscanning. I find a wolf. Quick google search leads me to believe that this is a fight I can not win in my current setup (at this point I realized I had no buffer). I look at the 2 mid slots, though, and think, "I have scram and web... I doubt he's running a long point, so all I'll have to do is web him and burn out of his point range, then warp off. I chase him across 3 asteroid belts (because I'm that scary) before I give up. So I go to safe, dscan, etc. Find a merlin... time for revenge, let's do this. I warp in 50km off just to be safe (I had seen some weird hybrid cruiser earlier c something cynabal? and I was being cautious). Just the merlin, ok awesome, go time. Burn straight at him b/c I'm like he isn't targeting me yet, maybe he's not paying attention. I get point on him, I web him, I engage with my guns and rockets (which I subbed in for the nos) and I orbit at 5k b/c I'm trying this build I found on the internet and it had a bunch of pluses (b/c asking in GA is too mainstream, apparently). DCU up, and then I get scrammed. No biggie, I'll web him and run if I have to. NOPE. I do MAX 10% shield damage to him, and that's me being generous to myself b/c my ego is in the garbage bin atm. He melted me like I was a fuckin' styrofoam plate in a microwave. By the time I realized how royally fucked I was it was already over. I'm not entirely suprised, turns out I was facing a guy who had been playing since '03. Still... I'm pretty sure my shitty fit didn't help at all. I managed to align to a station before I went poof, so I didn't get podded. And right as I get in the station the server goes down for maintenance. Lost a couple rifters, but had a blast. Wish I knew how to get the killmails, because I almost broke the shield of the first merlin, but I hardly dented the shields of the second one and I was running emp s and gremlin rockets. CCP really needs to learn how to moderate forums. So much bitching over Aurum, a leaked internal discussion newsletter, and people mad about having a captains quarters. In PvP i quite look forward to the prospect of killing some ones bought with aurum but still incredibly failfit ship. Also Eve is apparently dying (again damn nine lives!) For those who are enjoying their first expansion in eve, it is a common ritual for the eve community to supposedly cancel all subs cry the sky is falling and eve is dead and complain that some one actually updated the game and thus broke it for eternity leading to eve dying. | ||

 I think Incarna is cool. Adds a different element to the game. Also, 2 things:1. The OP PVP Skill requirements are different from the ones on the bulletins in game. It threw me off and it may throw others off. 2. How do I sit on my couch? | ||
