Between missions and ninja salvaging (okay, especially the salvaging), I was able to get enough cash to buy all the learning skill books in my first 2-3 days. After getting them to a decent level, I worked toward a cruiser and +3 implants and remapped my abilities completely toward perception/intelligence in order to learn the mixture of necessary ship and support skills that I'll be doing for probably the next year. EVEMon and EFT are pretty amazing utilities, check them out. EVE is actually complex enough to warrant a lot of out of game planning time.
I definitely recommend ninja salvaging to any other players who are just starting out. You'll learn how to use the at-times-painful scanning system, you'll make a lot more money than you could doing anything else at this point, and you'll be 'interacting' with other players at the same time. I personally just started 2 and a half weeks ago, and this bit of side income has helped tremendously.
btw: I'm Bungo Brown in game. Would definitely be interested in joining up, especially if the corp is going to be more active.

I wouldn't recommend ninja salvaging. I agree, it does make you more money than regular L1 running, but ninja salvaging is basically thought of the same as canflipping. You do it when you don't have the balls to do the real thing.
EDIT: People will also hate you, and people hold grudges in EVE. You wouldn't want a L4 retard farmer with unlimited amounts of ISK at his disposal as your enemy in EVE, unless you know what you are doing.

I want a L4 retard farmer with unlimited isk as my enemy. Once I get cool pewpew skills I'm going to go ninja salvage and hope I get kill rights on those L4 CNR runners. Need phat lewts.
Edit: The TL corp IS active. What are you talking about!

What I meant was. He himself is not dangerous. The mercs he will send after you are.
|
I don't think mercs will go hit me in 0.0 unless they wardec TL or something

Liquid Inc. got merc'd once. We took the offensive and totally destroyed them. It was hilarious.
Keep in mind that we were a bunch of noobs at that point.

i can pretty much say that we (Liquid corp, and GC as a whole) are not intimidated by the threat any mercs pose to us. More pew pew, more better. Even when we were on our own in low sec it didn't overly bother us, much less so here in space that we literally own.
edit: Lol at three of us all responding at once that we don't care about mercs
|
We are not talking about Liquid Inc. or any other corp.
The discussion was about a new player out to make money. Sure, he can join GC tomorrow or whatever, but you can't seriously suggest that it's okay to make enemies as a new player, just because you have friends waiting for you.
Also, not saying that GC is bad or anything, they are actually very good, but it would be an interesting scenario if Noir. would go all out on you and vice versa. Not all merc corps are small gang highsec warfare ones.
EDIT: I'll put it this way, is it better to make money without ninja salvaging and join up with whoever later or, make money while pissing people off and the joining with someone?

Privateer alliance wardecced GC and gave up right after.
|
we have a 60 man corp joining in a few days that just won a war against noir all by themselves. so even if we assume that the alliance is completely worthless right now, i dont think we have anything to worry about
but its a fair point, making enemies just cause you can is retarded and will come back and bite you in the ass.
especially if the corp is going to be more active.
how do you know how active we are now? and whats your appropriate level of activity

Since when were Privateers good PvPers?
We let our noobs practise on Privateers at Jita 4-4

Salvage is free game, though. Despite part of the community's hatred for those who track down mission runners and salvage 'their' wrecks, it's a legitimate practice. Now, if you're taking the loot, that's another story. You can obviously be shot at that point, but you can also make a lot more money if you get lucky. Some mods you'll find on level 4 missions can net you over a mil a piece - well worth the risk imo.
But hey, if you for some reason have issues with upsetting people (I thought this type of freedom was half the point of EVE...), you can always only salvage after the mission runner is done with what he's doing.

I was only judging by the last couple pages of this thread, compared to what it had been like before. As for myself, I'm perfectly okay with any amount of activity. I was only worried the corp might be in decline or something.

There was just nothing to post about on the forums

cant really post a "we had a good roam today" every day for 10 months in a row
|
|
we had a cta today (well actually three). the one i was on we killed a pos and a bunch of people afking in it. now we're getting ready to kill an infrastructure hub. NC was a no-show.

I heard revo logged back in on January 15th and announced a roam for Saturday(today). Reports are coming in of a collective Gc leadership orgasm.
It's is the second coming. The return of eve's german juggernaut(copyright Kai Budde).
Look forward to the battlereport because I sense epicness on the horizon.

dno, early US TZ seemed pretty dead and like no one in leadership was able to get me some infos about the surroundings. We'll probably do camaris-style T2 frig runs till I know what's going on. =P
Should be like 16/17 evetime-ish and go for 3-4 hours.
Also, note to self and others: Eve is fucking boring when you're involved in the major crap. e.g. the cta yesterday was sitting around for 4-5h till it was done. No enemy movements, and even if there was it would have been a lagfest. Personally I love Eve the most with encounters around 10-200 people at max in the same system.
Nanoyarrrrrrrrrrr!
