I was thinking that the other day, wondering what it was like for the veterans of the Hatchery when they first started playing EVE. Maybe some day KwarK can regale me with a tale of his adventures in EVE?
There was the time I tried to fly a raven against WTs with bs 2. Then I discovered I didn't have torpedos 1 so I put the launchers in my cargo hold and just flew it as a neutboat while I trained the skill.
Then there was the time I went to nullsec and everybody died except me cause I warped to the wrong gate. Then there was the time I jumped the whole lot into a bubbled gate cause I cba to scout. It became my thing. When I took us on an op there were no survivors. I got VoV killed because I wanted him to undock so I gave him an "insta" knowing it wasn't an insta so he'd have the courage to face his fears and undock. Also we were all spread out everywhere, you'd be lucky if you ever saw more than 1 corpmate in local. And only I really missioned and I did it in a t1 drake so good luck salvaging that. Also no noctis and learning skills. The guys back then had it really rough.

And thus we have the adventures of KwarK, our valiant Caldari Hero. The book will be published in Q3 of 2012. Now, KwarK, do you recall any difficulties you had when you were a brand new player still on your trial account?

Caldari hated me cause I was missioning for roden shipyards for some reason, it took forever to do l3 missions and salvage them myself and I never left highsec. There wasn't really a corp or any structure or any way of learning. I was so out of my depth I didn't even comprehend how much there was going on.

No, can't say that I've ever heard of it.
Step 1, train all int/mem learning skills to V. Don't dual trial, just stay in a caracal for two months while that completes. Step 2, remap everything into int/mem to get 33 int and the max sp/hr. Step 3, train engineering and electronics skills to V alphabetically. Step 4, QQ several months in because a t1 drake with hm 2 sucks.

Yeah, I can definitely see beyond a reasonable doubt how we noobs in the Hatchery have it lucky.

My first cruiser was a Moa with lasers. Was the best you could buy and cost me 60mil isk back when 60 mil was as lot. Also there were only six learning skills and no implants so a rank 1 skill took seven days to get it to level 5 from 4.
All interceptors were worthless besides the crow because standard launchers could fit cruise missiles and those hit all ships for full damage.
Dual mwd ravens were the best battleships ever.
50 v 50 was as big as fleets got.
and yet the people that owned fountain were still dicks
The very first time I picked up EVE: Matari ships were crap and Nanos were fitted on EVERYTHING. Crows were awesome, everyone had Megathrones and CCP decided to make their company motto to nerf Speed into oblivion.

Well ive got a russian in my wh threatening to pos bash me, I need director roles on Fil0 asap and to get some more pos mods in my station as well as kill this drake asap, if kwark could help me by playing one of my accounts and managing this it would be wonderful because my head is exploding with all of the stuff I have to do atm.
1.Close the entry wh that the hostile is aware of 2.probe down and kill the russian drake who threatened to pos bash me 3.Get back to the base and make a deathdstar very fast (thankfully I have all the mods at jita 4-4)
Not a long list but quite a lot of things to do.
Edit:I simply bought a pest fitted it with all 1600mm plates and closed that wormhole up to critical where it still is right now, permitting 1 ship to pass lol

thats bullshit, there were plenty of people who learned how to play in liquid inc/tcsi, it was just that you never even tried back then :p you also for some reason insisted on flying caldari blasterboats
also yeah, the infamous REMAP
edit2: i would also like to kill the guy who implanted us with the idea of doing missions for roden though. i remember the whole bunch of newbs who came in the first wave all missioned for roden for a while (though most stopped before getting to lvl2).
My experience was getting a 21 day trial from Vil, getting a training session from Del'rathi, and than doing my own thing for a month or so in high sec before joining Liquid Inc down in Scalding. Hatchery members don't know how easy they have it in terms of getting eased into Eve pvp (even if it's mostly high sec fighting against mouth breathers).
