And it didn't disappoint! I made a dummy account to ask a 21 day trial mentorship thing. Took about 2 days to do the tutorials the game had available so I didn't look like a dumbass and by the third day I was already going out on PvP roams and salvages (I could've started earlier though). I followed the outlines in this post and the bulletin and by the 5th day I was able to get a pilots license extention along with my mentors money. All in-game money (ISK) so I didn't have to spend a single penny on the game. So now my 7th-ish day of eve I have a fully registered account with about 45 days paid and am about to jump into a battlecruiser.~ In EVE skill = free to play. The Hatchery is pretty damn awesome, and a lot of people besides my mentor helped out too. These guys in pvp are the equivalent of a marine soloin a lurker. I should've started sooner ![]()

Although I did get 2 friends to sub off of trials I sent them so I have only paid for one month so far.

We found a gatecamp with a cheetah, drake and two canes. We jumped on in and immediately gunned down a cane. They were all over the place, one of their canes was trying to kill me in the rapier and I was just holding him at 22k while the other guys were on Caelum. However our focussed fire and lack of purger rigs left them a cane down while Caelum was still on half shield. We'd spread our points and with a nanocane and stasis on their second cane Caelum was able to get out as his shield broke, just before their second cane went down. There was nothing the drake could do, he tried to kill me because the rapier was the most expensive and fragile thing we had but I could just align out, stasis him and disengage myself while Orandos cleaned it up. Very easy victory over a pretty comparable fleet. We just flew better, abused range and stasis and had decent fits. Wasn't much they could do. We continued to roam and I scanned down a harb beltratting and held it for the fleet. Another easy kill, 4 bcs for 0 losses. We continued towards out exit and found a gatecamp with a hictor in the last system. A muninn, a falcon (cloaked, we didn't know about this yet), a rff, dramiel, devoter, deimos and a drake were there I think. We could just go through it and rapier disengage but after weighing it up we decided it was time to put our nano to the test. We triggered the trap, burned off and disengaged the tackle with the rapier. They launched a billion ecm drones and the falcon got in. With the rapier jammed we couldn't really isolate ships to gun them down and it was pretty much a standoff with VoV killing ecm drones for kicks while both sides did no real damage. I decided to call a disengage, set our align point to our outgate to lowsec and told people to pull drones and deaggress. Everyone was aligned and I said warp at the precise moment an overheated 30k point hit orandos' drake. This was awful timing. If I'd said it a second earlier we'd all be out, a second later and we'd have seen and I could have stasised the devoter and allowed orandos to burn out. Instead we were trapped in a 30 AU warp while the rest of them seized the chance and ran him down. I took the rapier back to see what I could do but he was scrammed by then. Not really much blame to be had for it. The rapier should be the last man on the field but I had called an align, everyone was aligned and nobody was pointed so when I say warp it wasn't unreasonable to immediately warp myself. Equally orandos was on his first nano roam and you can easily be taken by surprise by how quickly an overheated mwd and overheated point can come out of nowhere. Obviously it's on him to notice it earlier and either overheat himself or tell me but it was incredibly unlucky that the point hit the second I said warp (for those who don't know an aligned ship warps instantly, the only delay was the reaction time between me saying warp and him hitting the button). I was more than happy to reimburse the loss and call it a win at 4 kills to 1 loss. Going to start small with some frig roams I think, try to see if I can at least not get everyone killed that goes against the tradition of Hatchery FCs Okay then. I expect everyone in corp to have at least 1 racial battleship skill trained to 4 by this time next week. We're going for more treasure. Reimbursement will be covered by Caelum How nice of you.

+ Show Spoiler + Y-W1Q3, Venal - A large battle between Pandemic Legion and the Northern Coalition on 30.12.112 resulted in the destruction of an estimated 9 super-capital vessels. Sources attributed the recent increase in tension between Pandemic Legion and their former allies in the Northern Coalition to the expansion of Pandemic Legion's moon-mining operations in Venal, where they hold a number of highly valuable Technetium moons. At least 126 super-capitals (titans and super-carriers) are recorded as having been fielded (57 from Pandemic Legion and 69 belonging to Northern Coalition alliances and allies) with estimates putting roughly a thousand pilots on the field of battle during the four-hour engagement. The Northern Coalition fleet was over twice the size of that fielded by Pandemic Legion and received reinforcements as the fight went on, enabling them to inflict rapid and heavy damage on the Pandemic Legion super-capital forces, downing six titans and one super-carrier while losing only two of their own titans. Northern Coalition forces held the field following the clash with Pandemic Legion, which saw over 100 super-capital vessels fielded and 8 titan deaths in Venal. I was more than happy to reimburse the loss and call it a win at 4 kills to 1 loss. + Show Spoiler + On another note this was a superbly run op. Comms were tight as hell and we got shit done incredibly effectively and with as little panic as possible. Even when we were baiting that trap everything seemed completely under control, and it was. I'm learning a lot on these ops and am finally going to give in to Kwark's pressure and start FCing some stuff soon. Going to start small with some frig roams I think, try to see if I can at least not get everyone killed, and get some corp members trained on how scouting works (scouting on ops the past few weeks has been a complete disaster unless handled by a select few people). I've been tagging along on every op I can trying to learn how this shit works, and thanks to kwark and caelum for showing me how it all works, I'm finally starting to feel a little more comfortable instead of the normal "OMFG THERES A RED ON GRID OMGOMGOMG". Pretty cool. Would love to do this, soon as I get back into town. Problem is I still don't have a working mic, and probably won't till I get moved into my new apartment on the 14th. But if I get one it's going down.

Here is a link for people that want to watch some videos of PvP and some goofy stuff. They are pretty old I played like 2006-2008. I don't have time for a second life right now but if I do in the future The Hatchery will get a message from me. Thanks for the thread brings back some old memories.

I got the point and stasis and etc and then aligned towards sun which happened to be directly at him. That didn't end so well. Need to take a second and work out what's what before doing this shit. He forgot to say he lost his rapier to a HAM drake np kwark always there to help

Also EVE Metrics closed their doors ![]() You havent played the game long enough PL has been on the brink of complete fail cascade on at least 2 separate occasions. Then they get back on their feet and become FOTM again. It ebbs and flows. PL has had their LOL moments as well...though none quite as bad as 7 titans in a week. If they lose this moon kingdom it'll be like the third theyve lost. Also I really hope that's sarcasm I see Kizu.
