I mean cheating is bad, but stupid cheating is something else entirely.

The AT is like a race with two sprinters who can do 4 minute miles, a bunch of people who could maybe do a 15 minute mile if it was downhill and you rolled them and one guy who could do a 12 minute mile and thinks he's good because that's slightly faster than the others. The two sprinters win all the races against the others with ease but do cartwheels and run backwards in their race against each other, finishing in 8 minutes, because they just don't give a fuck. The 12 minute mile guy is therefore proclaimed to be the fastest.

Made it pretty clear that preparing together is OK, but once the preparation is over each team should be working toward their own victory. Kwark, I think your sprinter summary is right, but I think CCP's response would be "yeah, that's true, and the culmination of our tournament should be seeing which one of them can hit 3:59, not watching them cruise to a 7 minute mile since they already know they're sharing the prizes."

I thought they were found guilty of the poor sportsmanship rule which hit Hydra/Outbreak when they didn't try their hardest vs each other. They didn't DDoS anyone or use any banned modules or disconnect opponents or have spies on rival's teams undermine them. They just fucked around in a match against each other. The problem is Kadesh made one match a easy mode match in order to make it harder for that 12 minute mile to catch up to the two frontruners. I don't think that it effected the end results, but I do think it was 100% not okay. I feel really bad for everyone who got screwed, but in the end I don't think ccp had a choice but to come down hard. Kadesh cheated in that one match, which for all intents and purposes means that both teams cheated and thus the hammer was dropped. And it was stupid because that pl team was one of the weaker ones they've fielded, and wouldn't have been able to beat either team even if they took that seriously.

I thought KP said that the reason they often brought mirrors is that they were picking from the same pool of compositions and bans exist.

If you succeed with both teams while advancing through brackets, sooner or later teams will fight each other. Because of said secrecy and huge value of surprise factor of new setups, you don't want to show any metabreakers or waste your ingame/human resources on match vs each other - just to have better chance to win the whole thing, with one or both teams. Typical collision of interests: - use your best setups vs your hardest opponent (your second team knows all details about you, thus if you fight it for real it is the hardest enemy indeed). This way you have better chance to advance for your team and worse chance to win later for both teams - do semi-controlled environment where both teams can win but without showing anything new, hence not hurting your overall chances to win tournament If you're good friends, I am pretty sure that you will decide to do latter. It just appears that our team + our friends are the only teams who are capable of meeting each other in later stages of tournament. Any other couple of good scrim partners, if they want to win tournament, are likely to settle the deal the same way we did.
