It's pretty but you can no longer see where the ship is warping to, which is pretty important. Hopefully CCP will adjust it again.
this is a good thing, might make it so if you outplay inty blob and slip long point you're not guaranteed to die if you pick anything other than a moon to go to
anything that scales down the power of interceptors is probably a good thing

This is in the OP of this thread. I understand it's hard almost impossible to find since I wrote it it got buried.
Point = Activate a module (equipment for your ship) which prevents the enemy from warping out Tackle = Similar to point but also limits their mobility on the grid Grid = The space directly around you Warping out = Leaving the fight/grid Nano = As a noun, a module that gives you increased speed and agility. As a verb, to manually micro your ship exploiting the increased speed and agility. Station = A safe harbour where you can dock up System = A solar system, you will always be in one of these but there are hundreds Gate = An object in space which allows you to jump from one system to another FC = Fleet Commander Links = Passive fleet bonuses of various types Fleet = A formal collection of pilots working together in the short term Roam = A fleet on the move looking for fights Corp = A group of pilots who are affiliated, have shared chat channels, stations, wars Alliance = A group of corporations who have the above Space = The final frontier
If you have any questions regarding terminology just ask. So many of these we're familiar with and may not recognize immediately that others don't understand.
Additional terminology not included above: Scram = a short range point that also disables the target's microwarpdrive MWD = microwarpdrive, a module that let's you go really really fast at the expense of increase signature radius, also takes a lot of capacitor to use AB = afterburner, a module that let's you go slightly faster without the penalty of increased signature radius Signature Radius = a factor in damage calculations where increased signature radius makes you easier to hit and/or causes you to take more damage when hit Burn = to go in a direction or to a destination as fast as possible. Also can mean overheating a module excessively that it becomes damaged. Overheating = A game mechanic that allows a module to go beyond it's default ability for short periods of time. While overheating the module gains "heat", where a module at 100% heat can become "burned out" and disabled. A burned out module cannot be repaired in space. Align = to move your ship in the direction of an object at full speed, usually with the propulsion module inactive. This allows you to initiate warp instantly as warp requires your ship to be pointed towards your destination at near maximum velocity. Reinforce = Certain player owned structures can enter an invulnerable state when heavily damaged to allow the owners to form a defense (or to log on if in a different timezone). Damp = Slang for sensor dampeners that reduce the lock range of a ship. Often used by nano gangs to hinder enemy damage projection. Also has the function of increasing lock time, which can be useful against large ships that lock slowly, or in conjunction with ECM. Jam = Slang for Electronic Counter Measure that break the lock of a ship and prevent it from locking anything for 20 seconds. Chance of jamming is by a random formula that depends on the jammer's ECM strength versus the target's sensor strength. TD = Tracking Disruptors that reduce the effectiveness of turrets type weapons. Paints = A red laser pointer that makes a ship easier to hit and/or take more damage. Sov = Sovereignty. A game mechanic that allows player corporations or alliances to take over and own systems. These player owned systems can be upgraded, etc. POS = Player Owned Structure. Not to be confused with Stations, these are control towers that can be anchored in space and must be anchored on a moon (1 per moon). A POS has many functions and abilities. It can be equipped with defenses, provide storage, do industry related activities, and provide a safe haven for ships.
Thank you very much! Sorry, I should have dug through those spoilers. gonna do that now actually I know a lot of it is outdated but id bet the general info that doesnt relate to balance is still helpful

There are two basic modules that can "point" (Keep the enemy from warping away) the first is a warp disruptor, it has has a longish range and is typically used by fast ships who want to keep their distance. The second is the warp scrambler or "scram", its range is much shorter but it also shuts down the more powerful propulsion modules fast ships tend to use.
So to people like eve-academy who rely on numbers rather then skilled piloting, there's little difference as long as the enemy can't warp away. TL players tend to fly faster ships that let you control the fight as long as you have the skill to do so, so if you're "pointed" (with a disruptor) you're still faster than them and can just fly away if need be, but if you're "scramed" it shuts off your MWD (fast prop mod) and you're fucked.
As for "grid" think of it like a 3D chess board the game creates around you when you're in space, you can stretch it to an extent with objects or other ships, but once you get beyond a certain distance from other things the game creates a new grid for you and you're removed from the action in the other one.
so F-CON starts an invasion into Geminate and according to our intel they will soon be supported by FA and TNT at least. F-CON allready managed to lose a Maelstrom fleet and at least 2 Ishtar fleets against Legion and their allies.
Is Firebolts guide on setting up your overview in the old OP still relevant, or is it also outdated? Im still trying to set up everything so I can be helpful in roams and I figure I should set up my overview beforehand so Im not bugging people with these questions in the middle of a roam.

The basic principles/definitions regarding columns, tabs and overall appearance are still valid. Some general UI stuff have been updated in recent patches relating to radial menus and tool tip popups. There's also status personal flags like Suspect and Limited Engagement that aren't in the guide. For more info there's a CCP blog here: http://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/73443
For the lazy you can download overview packs (which is what I recommend, cause why spend days fiddling with your overview when you can spend mere hours).
When using an overview pack feel free to open up the xml files and customize it to your liking. I removed a lot of PvE and blob warfare PvP settings/tabs for mine, along with edited appearance to be more readable.
