A cerb applies 200 dps to a hyena with links so GG these ships look strong but they have 0 tank. Still on top of the RLML metagame. They are only good for small gangs that want to dunk solo people and even then there are like no good EAF pilots ingame.

My first instinct is that Hyenas are pretty strong and break all small-gang combat. A Rapier can cloak. A Huginn can tank up a bit. These are known factors in a fight that can be range-controlled without needing a gang full of ECM/damps.

A Hyena can easily go 5k at a moment's notice and the only real defense against it if the pilot isn't just approach-F1ing (a lot of them will be) is drones and highly-accurate long-range projection.

Drones take time to do their work, no matter how untanked your frigate is, and these ships are likely to come in sets rather than as a solo complement to a fleet.

Pretty much no ships have highly-accurate long-range projection. Zealots suck nowadays and don't hit that far out anyway. Oracles might hit them if the stars align, but that's not exactly a gameplan. Tornados and even Machariels lose so much damage and accuracy at these ranges that the Hyenas could survive multiple volleys. RLMs are really the way to go here, but the Cerb is the only ship capable of the range required.

Johnny, you're kind of right that it won't change the face of Cerb-based PvP (but you're wrong about a single Cerb applying 200 DPS to a Hyena - that just isn't going to happen ever unless I've done something horribly wrong), but it will pretty much be the case that if there's a Hyena on the field, no other nano ships than the Cerb need apply for PvP because they are going to be hard countered.

This change the EAFs is nice in spirit because these ships were terrible for so long, but it highlights the problems that EWAR causes with smaller groups. Making strong EWAR super accessible like this is just going to further shrink the solo and small-gang PvP gamespace.

Forcing every small gang to bring a bunch of Keres is removing more gameplay than it's adding.

I would also think caracals (CN scourge --> 63 km) will trade very cost-effectively with hyenas but trading is annoying as fuck when roaming.

180 dps or 200 dps from a cerb its not going to matter at all they will die instantly once they arrive on grid.

We all flew something better by the time they came for the canes and by the time they come for the cerbs we will be flying something better.

And its not really trading. You get webbed for maybe 10 seconds then the hyena dies.

If the cerb is rolling 5% damage application implants, and crash- you will easily be able to bat them away. But even with perfect skills cerbs CN range is 94K. That is not going to cut it vs a linked / fed web hyena. You will never hit it. However vs the other ones (Including not a maxed fed web / linked hyena)- yah the cerb can kill them, but to be honest that really sucks. I wanted to be flying something other than cerbs for the foreseeable future. That is what really annoys me. The entire EAF's (properly flown) only have 1 predator- the cerb. That is just not enough, they are way to game breaking in the current iteration.

They will have more sig radius then t1 frigs and similar speed. I think we both know what cerbs do to t1 frigs even loki linked ones.

And no one is going to fit a fed navy web on a hyena.

Cerbs aren't the problem here. The problem is that CCP is introducing a ship which will invalidate every other ship except the Cerb unless your small gang is made up of mostly Keres. Yes, CCP has done stupid shit in the past like the Hurricane nerf (way fucking overdone), the Drake nerf (when everyone stopped using Drakes because Tier 3 BCs were 1000x better), the invention of the Oracle etc. But this is taking it too far.

These are easily accessible ships which basically hard-counter an entire playstyle (minus one ship, arguably two) because their numbers are out of proportion. That's just poorly thought out.

Perhaps they should consult Firebolt. I hear he is quite good with the understanding of numbers.

Seriously though very few people are going to fly EAFs well. It would be the same if you could turn back time and explain what a pulse oracle does when they first made t3 bcs, or like pointing out that FW was going to be amazingly broken with t5 letting you get reduced lp store costs. It's going to be hell to deal with these things, however navy omens, caracals, and cerbs still can kill them if they don't understand the game. How many people do you fight actually understand the game anyway?

Similarily people could just use nano pulse oracles but they don't because they are bad. Not saying EAFs aren't a concern, they're obviously going to be broken, just that it's not going to be the end of the world since people aren't going to use them optimally.

I think you guys are looking at this too narrowly. The impact of the hyena will be that a whole range of ships that were previously off the table are now back along with fittings excluded for speed problems and a billion other things. You can fit the thing like this

I want and expect that topic to be bumped with yeah, same bonuses seems legit. If CCP can be convinced they have to do a job but then told there is a shortcut where they can do said job using copy and paste they will do that.

I am fairly sure that they said in the post about RHML that the BS hulls that have missile bonuses now will just have RHML added to the list
