Doesnt matter at all which race you take. The only difference is your starting location and about a day in skillpoints that are in the respective frigate classes and weapon systems. Just choose the races for their looks because every pilot can train everything and race has no impact on the rate you're training skills at.

Now, race is very important since that what dictates how your ships will fly.Click me for ships!!!. Remember that the types of fleets we fly, we value speed and the ability to dictate range, as so, and you’d most likely be in a battlecrusier and below, with recons/logi/hacs down the road. Now, I will give you a short summery of the races and there ships, as it pertains to how we fly (and not the more objectified link above) Minmatar: Totally awesome. You have a very wide variety of ships you can fly, most of them being pretty kick ass in pvp. It takes a little bit to get into the corp fittings for the ships you’d fly in fleet though but totally worth it. You’ll be in a hurricane when you get to corp fitting one down then be able to move onto bigger stuff down the road Have awesome Hacs, recons and Logi ships, so your options are great Caldari: Pretty much all of Caldari ships suck…in pvp. You’re only going to ever fly a Blackbird (falcon and rook, with all three of these support ships) and a drake.(In our fleets atleast) Now, don’t get me wrong, drakes are holy crap stupid awesome. You can get into one relatively quickly, much quicker than any other race, and you can even stay in it and do 4s really quickly, allowing the maximum of bear-age to go on or go up to a raven for extreme mode carebearing! So, if you are fine with being in a drake for pretty much forever, Caldari is for you! Amarr: Do you like lasers? There you go. We only have a few Amarr pilots in corp, but generally these ships are a bit slow. In corp fitting, there is a Harbinger fit called AWESOME, I will let you figure that one out. In longer fights, capacitor becomes an issue with Amarr ships, but with us that shouldn’t be a problem as our fights are not giant cap vs cap fleets. Amarr also have really awesome recon ships and hacs so you have plenty on options for pvp as well. Good choice. Gallente: Pretty much the only race we have no use for. The recon is pretty good, but not worth it if you want to pvp with us. Stay Away I guess I can see why people get confused about this. Someone should probably rewrite this part up.

But like they mentioned, this will slow you down by like a week, which in the grand scheme of things (if you're playing this game for months or years) is negligible. Now, your starting character ATTRIBUTES.... (wait, they changed that like half a year ago, didn't they? Do characters still have attributes?)

So you'll have to buy those skillbooks and take time to train them before you can fly any Minmitar ships. T_T Brand new accounts start with racial frigate 2, not 3. Basically when I do this writeup it'll highlight that your starting race doesn't matter, but I'll go on to talk about what each race's ships are like, as well as how they have several months to decide while they fly a rifter around.

(havent played since ~1 year, so the race descriptions may be off, recheck) EvE is an utopian place, where the race you choose has very little impact. It influences your starting skills, where in the universe you start and how your character does look like. Since every character can train all the skills, your starting skills aren't that important either. For example: You chose to play as a Caldari pilot and start out with a bunch of skills for Caldari ships (makes sense, no?), but decide that you want to fly Amarr ships. No problem at all: start training Amarr skills. You'll lose maybe two days of skill training time, which is not much in EvE time. So just go nuts with the character editor and choose the best/funniest/what ever you want character you can build with it, you will have to look at that guy/gal for a long time. ![]() At the start of your EvE career you will train for a mighty Rifter, which you will be able to fly after a short time, regardless of the race you've picked. After you have gained enough experience you have to decide what ships you want to fly. Here is a short outline of what the races specialize in, but be sure to check back with our veterans, they will have invaluable advice for you. Gallente: Drones&Blasters. Drones are miniature ships under your control. Don't underestimate them, they are awesome and quite deadly. Most Gallente ships can field a bunch of those and some give extra boni to them. Blasters are close and personal. No range at all, but huge damage. Minmatar: Flexible and fast. A lot of useful ships and options. They use Artillery and Autocanons as their weaponry, sometimes combined with additional missile launchers. Your first real PvP ship the Rifter is build by those guys. Since they are kinda versatile, it is sometimes hard to find a overlapping theme. Probably their theme is: build with duct tape & awesomeness. Amarr: Lasers. These guys simply love Lasers. They have lasers for short range, long range, extreme range, medium range and everything in between. Though most of their stuff tends to be kind of bulky, which partly comes from their tendency to be armor tanked (EvE has shield, armor and structure for hp and most ship use either their shield or their armor to migrate damage) . Their T2 ships are pretty strong, T2 being the specialized ones you can fly later in your career. Caldari: Missiles, ECM and Shields. Missiles are awesome since you can choose between all the available types of damage (and hit the enemy with what hits him/her the hardest). Missiles come in a variety of long and short ranged. Caldari prefer to shield tank their ships. A special mention goes to ECM, which has a chance to deny enemies the ability to lock targets, which in turn prevents them from attacking. Really nasty and annoying in PvP, depending on which side you are on. Again all four races have viable ships and choices, but consult your mentor/officer/choice veteran before committing to something that sounds good on paper. Don't fly Stealth Bombers.
