No
I guess i shouldn't be surprised.. CCP fails again..
It's not failing, thats how it should be. If you take out skill requirements (which any serious competitor has all the relevant ones at 5 anyways) and just give everyone all 5 characters for the tournament, then you are still separated by isk, so you might as well just give all those competitors full 6% sets and all officer mods for their flagships, and then the alliance tournament doesn't actually mean anything, its just a silly watered down "ESPORT".
Winning the alliance tournament should be an investment, you should have to put something into it to win. You can put in the time to train your character, farm the lp, mine the minerals, or you can spend isk to have someone else put the effort in for you. Losing should mean the loss of that investment. This isn't starcraft, you can't just hit the find match button again. The investment is not futile though, as with enough investment, you can get every item in the game, nothing is exclusive to any one group of players. With enough isk, any ship can be purchased, any amount of skill points can be purchased, and with the limitations on what items you can actually use in the AT, the amount of isk you might need is actually pretty insignificant. It is in this way that the alliance tournament is balanced. The greater realm of spaceship combat in EVE may be imbalanced among certain aspects, but everyone has the ability to exploit these imbalances, and that exploitation is all part of the game, one of the most fun parts if I might add.

What time (GMT ideally) do you guys do PvP ops, and how often do you do them? I've tried this game before, and unless I can get into some kind of PvP action, I don't really want to try it again. Fortunately thanks to rifters I won't need much SP, but I do need ops that are okay with inexperienced Rifter pilots during a timezone I can work with
PVP ops are generally done between the time the north/south americans get back from work/school and the time the Europeans go to bed...and at any other point in time someone feels like doing something. We do things as often as people feel like doing them. If there are people to kill and people wanting to kill them, something happens, if not, there's always other things to do.

That's another great thing about the AT and EVE in general. People have the opportunity to be retarded.
So I'm currently in my gcc'd shield oracle in half armor, burning at an obelisk which just jumped into bos from heild, it's aligning to warp to teon (and safety) so I'm trying to bump it so it doesn't enter warp, then downtime happens.

Okay, great, I should be able to play at points during those times. I'll have to think about giving EVE another try!

This will be interesting.
We were considering running our freighter through that route yesterday. Then we scouted you and some others on a gate killing a talos or something and resorted to cloaky haulers :D
I didn't have a point on my ship and was actually gcc'd. I would've died before him if downtime hadn't hit. I was counting on being able to quickly log in straight after downtime and switch to my mach before he logged in and made his slow warp back to the other gate. Unfortunately he smartly didn't log in himself.
So i was driving about today and saw a Mercedes Mclaren car and wasnt that impressed and got me to think i wonder what the alliance mates drive over thond, so over to you. What car you driving?
To give this some background since the description is lacking. Members of PL noticed a slight anomaly whilst bombing a southern coalition fleet earlier today in that racial bombs are providing 0 damage to each other. The limit per bombing run was usually around 9 before the bombs would kill each other, however the new "smartbomb" bug which is also affecting "firewalling" (smarbombing missiles before they reach you) also extends to bombs. So they call the CFC to come bomb 2 of their carriers
