If you have t3 booster, ship more worth than the 10 people you fight, it makes for nice brawling maelstorm on a gate videos which the people are so absolutely in love with. Now if you have skill too you can fly kiting ships. | ||

I called align to the gate and was getting the warpin when one of the FA rifters said "whoops, I accidentally warped". My assumption at this point was that he'd warped to AA who I had said I would be providing the warpin on so I prematurely warped the rest of the fleet to AA who was about 70k off of the hostile fleet in the process of getting a good warpin. However he had in fact just warped to the gate at zero, despite knowing what was there. -1 rifter. I had explained to the fleet the role of a rifter within a nanogang and how they'd be sitting on my shoulder awaiting me to give them orders. How I'd be using them to control the field, lock targets down, intercept tackle and so forth. When we landed I called sun as an align and the surviving rifter disregarded all of the prefight theory and mwded off to the sun. A hostile longpoint dramiel immediately isolated itself burning straight at us and I ordered the rifter to scram it and the drakes to flip around and grab a heated web on it. It was at this point that I noticed that the rifter was 90k off me towards the sun. Lacking the scramweb on the dramiel we failed to blap it and were eventually run down by the hostiles and ended up losing two bc. In the postfight talk the rifter was confused, assuming that the order to align sun overwrote all of the theory about what his role in the fight was and that for some reason the fight had turned into a race to the sun using sublight engines only. When I attempted to explain to him that the sun thing was just guiding him about the intention of the fleet so he could apply the theory of what he was meant to be doing more appropriately he failed to understand how the two could coincide. As I struggled to break it down into simpler and simpler terms I eventually realised the root of the problem, that it simply hadn't occurred to the rifter pilot that his dual nano rifter might be faster than our battlecruisers. While he admitted that this was something that he was, at least in theory, aware of it did not occur to him that it might be an issue that he would need to address regarding the piloting of his ship. There is much work to be done here. | ||
