I had sincerely hoped to begin today's update with a dose of 'lol merchi' comedy and the announcement that their incompetence had cost them 25 billion isk. It was the perfect setup. They tried to deploy an outpost yesterday before downtime, but forgot to bring the fuel; downtime hits as they're frantically scrabbling to get the missing bits from Jita, and the servers close. An egg, floating vulnerable and undefended in 1-2JP4 for the next 23 hours; hundreds of man hours of work, many billions of isk, easy to destroy with a pre-downtime fleet.

Unfortunately for our sadistic pleasure, our enemies are even more incompetent than Merchi, didn't notice the outpost, and the egg hatched a new station at downtime. Welp!

Ok, maybe I lied, maybe the egg wasn't completely defenseless.

That about sets the theme for hostile activity yesterday: there was essentially no organized resistance. GKC tried to form up but gave up when they couldn't muster more than 55 guys. -A- spent the entire day freaking out about a hypothetical CVA invasion of Catch. You think I mash the broadcast butan a lot? Wait until you see Thug when he feels threatened.

We blew up everything on yesterday's pos.jpg with the exception of one Tormentum small tower, which they managed to rep/restront while we were blowing up the MKD tower. Romulans showed up in eurotime sieging a KIA pos or something, but we chased them off and they logged out rather than fight us.

In US TZ, I fruitlessly camped the A2-V27 gate with Zastrow for three hours and saw no hostiles at all while Imperian said '**** it, I'm bored' in that german accent of his, then downed a HUN Reloaded jammer in 0-WT2D because hey, why not.

6:30 eve regroup, DBRB et all finished the purge of MKD, and since downtime Imperian has been chewing on more towers; there's a couple of early-morning tower killmails to be had for those in the mood, but it's not worth broadcasting about due to the lack of hostiles.

The fit is fine if your doing PvE, but even then it's over-tanked and not enough dmg, but it's not the first time people brought their ratting ships to fleets. It's also not the first time people brought faction ships to fleets, if they have the isk it's their choice. But the fit is very sub-optimal for fleet fights.

Considering that he has no T2 ammo, a must, he used 7 guns instead of 8 and non the less beams instead of tachs, not to mention he has no sensor boosters for range, mwd to gtfo bubbles, and tracking enhancers. That ship would die to the first bubble camp they came across or if it ever got bubbled in a fleet fight.

If he wanted a good POS dmg dealer he would of came in an armageddon to melt that shit.

but all of this was covered by my Yugo Brosf (cao picko)

OK, just to clarify things in this debate about "old" Goon space. All Detorid POS belong to a corp inside Goonswarm called "Goonfleel". Has almost same ticker as Goonfleet (LWTAX <-> IWTAX), hence the confusion this creates for some. It has 6 members, all of which are XIX alts. This is UaxDeath's alt corp inside Goonswarm. He created it and had all Detorid stations transferred to it from Goonfleet when he realized a month or so ago that Atlas might go for it once we had secured Omist. Thus he upheld the 2 sov 4's (now only 1 sov4 left, 77s), securing the region from small attacks and tower spams.

Today the count towards sov4 in the MD- constellation was also reset by another 4 weeks, since we took down the single tower in H-F securing 51% system coverage in the constellation.

Some fighting went down in HZF today. XIX had 2 towers coming out of reinforced close to each other in the 77s constellation, and we formed up to kill them as usual. XIX took us a bit by surprise though, we had somehow missed they a jumpbridge leading into HZF from 77s, so when RA support arrived to help them they all simply bridged through into HZF past our bubble camps and 4 Titans in local. Oh well.

XIX having 3:1 BS numbers to Atlas, they were flexible and quickly went to work on our newly acquired gold mine. We started out by warping 2 Titans there to scare them off, but sadly they were well maneuvered and had several regroup points around the POS making it difficult to bubble and DD them. So we decided to warp in carriers on the edge of the forcefield instead, which proved to be more than they could handle. We spider tanked their DPS and repped POS meanwhile, forcing them to warp off without being able to put it into reinforced.

We then waited for their next move. Their POS was out of reinforced, but they had made no attempt to rep it yet. We start to check for new towers at this point. And right we were, 4 new towers unaccounted for in system. We decide 'balls deep' tactic is best for this kind of job, so we went in with dreads and carriers on their anchoring POS to kill it. We get ready to warp in on the second tower, being in a bit of a hurry now to finish the towers off before XIX is able to stront them. We warp capitals in on the second tower. As we siege, hostile BS and support land close range on us. One of our Phoenixes quickly gets primaried, and as he is in 30% armor or so our sling finally gets ready and we warp in 2 Titans and all our dictors on the hostile fleet. First Titan lands like 15sec before our second titan, and his DD destroys our bubbles on the hostiles that survived first DD, thus we didn't catch as many as we could have.

The two DD's were pretty much the end of a long day for Atlas, and hostiles bridged out of system afterwards and went home. We killed the remaining 2 towers that had been anchored, 1 was online but had not been stronted. After that we killed 2 more towers in 0-g, making it a total of 14 large towers killed today for Atlas. KB end result in HZF:

http://atlas-alliance.com/killboard/?a=kill_related&kll_id=78688

Detorid before DT: 4 XIX towers were killed in the 77s sov4 constellation without any resistance. PL also relocated another capital fleet to Curse yesterday. So this weekend might get hot again, one can always hope for more action as the last couple of days has been mostly POS mopping up of the 100+ towers XIX have in this region.

Here's a long description of the aforementioned HZF fight, again from an Atlas member's point of view:

@number1gog, it is possible to chill in a cov-ops and observe fights. But they are boring/very laggy on the 400+ scale. If you do go that route, you could write articles for www.eve-tribune.com and get paid for it, if your article is good that is ...

But like mentioned there are so many other things that are a lot more fun, but if that is your goal, it is definitely possible to do.

Thanks for the inputs guys.

I really have no interest in the game outside of some of these compelling storylines. "Getting good at it" or whatever doesn't mean much to me. But stories about espionage and betrayals and all that hurf blurf is cool. I just wanted to jump into the fray and put some visuals on the stories.

And being in a position to be the guy taking the screenshots of a 14 titan rape train would be pretty cool too.

1. I never said Pulse did less . . . I said he brought beams because they were POS Bashing with sniperish BS'es and Ravens. With the range he was firing at, he would get more DPS with Beams and Multifrequencies than with Pulse with similar optimals

2. He didn't have any other BS'es at the time, not exactly smart, but he needed to liquidate many of his assets to purchase a MS

3. Depending on skills he should be cap stable. With all Level V he is stable at 51%. He might not have all 5's, but he should be close. The POS'es they bash usually don't have more than three or 4 guns, they tend to have quite a few jammers and shield hardeners though. Even then, he could hold out till logistics ships repped him. 130K EHP isn't exactly thin. I'm pretty sure that 2nd kinetic there was to protect from the Caldari Titans that they like to drop.

4. With those crystals he was well inside his opitmal.

5. He has logistics ships for remote reps. He needs that cloak to safe if he gets trapped inside system. Any fit that expensive should have a cloak for this reason. A couple MS and a Titan that got droppped in 6Q yesterday all had cloaks, they do their business, warp to a safe and cloak up and we can't do anything. (They killed a blue missioning in a carrier . . . )

6. Not really a PvP fit.

7. This isn't a PvP fit. POS bashing is more similar to PvE than PvP I would say.

8. Explain.

i will only bother with number 8. cause the rest dont make sense (he needs to lose a amarr navy apoc to be able to buy a MS? wtf?)/me or BeJe77 have already explained.
battleclinic is pretty horrible cause, well, its pretty horrible. it has bad, outdated fits and generally bad posters/discussions. it is inferior to sites like scrapheap challenge in every way. it is the gosugamers of eve sites if you will.
and if you really think that was an ok fleet bs fit, you need to check some alliance basic fits and get a clue.

oh, have to answer to this gem too

"7. This isn't a PvP fit. POS bashing is more similar to PvE than PvP I would say."

you go pos bashing and dont expect oposition? it makes it even more horrible. good thing he lost it, he deserves to lose 5 more if he thinks it that manner. but i doubt that he thinks in that manner, youre just defending your alliance, and really badly at that.

Seems like everyone except ShoreT, even guys on SHC, thought that fitting was hilarious.

So as someone who wouldn't know, I think it's safe to assume it was hilarious.

That carrier fit is bad, i wonder if he forgot to switch from travel/hauling fit to an PvP one......

As for why battleclinic is bad: It is over-run by year average Empire Carebears who think they know everything. It is the people who run missions non stop and come to the boards trying to adapt their PvE fit as their PvP fit.

If you truly want good fits both PvP and PvE best resource for you is www.scrapheap-challenge.com they have the most cost effective ways to just about do anything in eve without hurting the wallet. While you can get some "decent" fits on evo-o bar non scrapheap is far better, virtually for almost everything EvE related.

I also agree with Wiljushka that POS bashing and PvE are completely different things. For one you don't have 200-700people drop on top you trying to kill you. In fleet fights you have people who drop bubbles on you to keep you from warping off. Hence why the MWD is so necessary. There also needs to be a lot of range because you may move from POS bashing to a conventional fleet fight in an instant. Also the cloak has no place on a fleet ship expensive or not. Only two exceptions are MS/Titans.

Also the navy apoc has 8 turret slots, use all 8. A lot of alliances even the major ones suck at fitting their fleet ships. PL/Trium/-A- and maybe one or two more entities have nice ones but a lot of the other fits are crap our way outdated compared to the new way of doing fleet fights.

Don't mean to bash at you ether ShoreT just trying to fix some stuff :D...

There's very little to report in this war update because hostiles stood by and did nothing whatsoever as we blew up approximately 12 towers in various systems since the last update. Keeping the Querious Spam Tracker accurate is going to be difficult at this pace.

For about thirty seconds a BeachBoys titan was tackled in KFIE, then the hictor holding the point was jammed and it warped off.

On the strategic level, in addition to us killing a buttload of towers, we kited the 5V- R64 into a 20:00ish timer on Friday. Not the best kite, but early enough that we can get a substantial US TZ turnout for some ~good fights~.

Today, RKZ is having yet another "Big Two Week Offensive." Let's make sure we're here with enough force to render it as impotent as the last one.

In failure cascade news, Skunk-Works lost a fifth member corp, Aeon of Strife. With 64 members that's a fairly substantial percentage loss for an already-screwed pet.

KenGoku's big offensive lasted all of two hours. They assaulted H74-B0 in Querious and proceeded to spam every available moon with a large tower by using pretty much every alliance still allied with them to avoid the 5 towers per day rule.

Goonfleet & Co massed up, roughly 550 people with 130 of which being capital ships and jumped right on top of the KenGoku fleet in system. KenGoku stayed and fought with their Battleships while their capitals ran, allowing Goonfleet & Co to win rather decisively. The big shift in the battle was when KenGoku started aligning to a different warpin spot and one of our Heavy Interdictors managed to keep a bubble on roughly half of the KenGoku battleships, essentially cutting their fleet in half instantly as the unbubbled battleships were suddenly too far away to help their trapped brosefs.

Right now we're mowing down the towers they placed all over system. Most of the towers are not even online and fueled yet since everything happened so fast, their logistics team was unable to get everything done before the battle was over.

lol, you would think alliances would fuel a tower before going to the next one to prevent something like this from happening. That way they might be slowed down, but you don't lose so much so fast.

It lagged so badly, I was basically just lagging around with local spiking at 1060 people. It was pretty sick, thank god I got on *some* killmails. Yay me, I guess. ;S

Yeah, except for some reason all the small (non sov-claiming) towers we've attacked so far have been fueled while the larges haven't. Except one large that we attacked that had a 5 hour strong timer.

I don't know what the fuck.
