Goons have been hated by the majority of EVE for about as long as anyone can remember.

Soon it seems like it will be MM+RZR+KIA+RED+GOONS+PL+SoT+XXDEATHXX+MH vs AAA and Atlas. 300 time baby.
If you really believe that AAA/ATLAS is going against all of EVE, you should look back through this thread and look for the 49- reports. 1800 people in local, 1400 of which were AAA and Kenny/GBC/Stain/Etc blues, after getting every alliance they possibly could to pile into the system. They have a NAP list just as large as anyone else.

By the way, earlier Aggression tried to take Wicked Creek from Scorched Earth and were repulsed with the help of TCF. But I wonder if the growth Try mentioned took place after that conflict. In that case, Aggression might be more than a match for Scorched + TCF + etc.
(Their fast growth also makes it more likely that they took in spies.)

Aggression failed in WC because Sc0rched was more organized and not to mention they brought a lot of friends to help them out. Aggression got some help later from Atlas and few other alliances but it was bit late to turn the tide...
UNL folded so quickly because they had no backing and they were up against quite a bit, not just Aggression. But that's the nature of EvE these days, you must have allies to survive.
As for Ultima Ratio. They are/were RA industrial backbone could be wrong since it's been so long with this info and not to mention RA splintered off into so many other groups.

5/31 Update:
Weekend updates are slow because I'm busy learning how to lose Dominixes; feel free to mock my feeble efforts here.
The big event yesterday - which I somehow spaced on - was the massive capital brawl in HZF where PL and XDeath lost a capfleet, and tons of our support did what they could to even out the k/d ratio. This took up the bulk of eurotime on 5/30. See this thread for details!
Last night we ran around like maniacs blowing up towers. All those us tz timers up to 4:38 eve on yesterday's pos jpg? Whoosh. Notably, Samhandwich doomsdayed a bunch of Romulans who tried to shoot one of our tower in late US TZ. GSOL also did a ****load of work, so give them some love.
Not much has happened today; for our 8:00 formup, we whacked a couple of the downtime towers (8-G and MKD), lost our untimed small pos in 4-2 (what was that thing doing there, anyway?). Since then nothing has happened, the coalition riding bikes and our hostiles doing ****-all; Imperian got so bored that he decided to rally a big fleet and go siege stuff with goons and TCF, so that's happening as I write this.
13 days to Sov4 in I1Y. Heh.

New updates thread: http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1087281
6/1 Update:
Siegework. Lots and lots of siegework. Yesterday in eurotime we had nothing to kill; the pos jpg had been cleared out as of 8:00 eve, so we had a wide-open schedule that we filled with the fragrance of burning strontium.
In early euro, RKZ attacked a TCF staging tower in A-E which had been offline for more than a month; we portalled onto them twice, chasing them away, and then said '**** it' and blew up the tower ourselves because TCF had entirely lost interest in it.
Killing the TCF tower got Imperian in a sieging sort of mood, so we proceeded to reinforce the 5V RKZ R64, the dread-killing hellstar which we had previously lost five caps to. Hostiles formed up to resist us, and we proceeded to repeatedly doomsday the **** out of them while hiding in their own tower - since we had the password.
Having routed the enemy, we went about making pos.jpg grow. We hit TV8, C-7, ZAU, P4, YOP...hell, just look at the picture.
Pre-downtime we had a 7:00 formup with Phreeze, and later Imperian taking over; the two LNVW and L-6 S-W towers were nuked. Morsus Mihi began to spam TV8 just to be ****s and prevent RKZ hitting Sov3 there.
In hilarious pet news, Skunk-Works lost another corporation yesterday.
We have a fairly packed eurotime today with lots of tower killmails to harvest, so please be around if you can!
12 days to I1Y Sov4. :toot:

Thanks again Bill for the updates. It looks like Goonies are going to get to Sov 4 because of absolutely terrible organization and planning by Kenny. It looks like AAA/Atlas know what they are doing way better than Kenny does, and get far better K/D ratios (at least recently).

Oh god that thread is hilarious, and I don't even play Eve.

Despite all the propaganda, I just love it when goonies stir up crap on forums ...Everyone responding to them is too stupid to notice they can't win weather they are right or not ....
K/D rations never really mattered. But it does have it's purpose. Depending on the entity it can be used as a moral or demoralization factor. But this just depends on the type of group your flying with. But it don't really matter, we all care how much we win or lose even in SC, you'd be pissed if you lost 5-6+ straight games .... Same can be said for EvE if you kept losing ships one after another in row and no kills :D.
But now crap load of nodes died and I need go to bed but I can't change skills STUPID CCP reimburse my lost skill training ....

Apologies for asking here. I was going to ask this questions on Eve's newbie forums but you apparently can't post on a trial account?
Anyways, what is the feasibility of using a covops freighter as a wartime observer/journalist type role? I'd like to check some of this stuff out for myself, but of course as soon as I get close to any low sec system in a regular freighter I'd get my face smashed. My desire is to jump in a sexy little cloaked jawnt (I chose Amarr, so it'd be an Anathema) and putt around some low or null sec systems to watch some fireworks.
Leveling up and actually finding a ship aside, will my plan actually work or am I destined to die a firey spaceship death? Are the tidbits about new scan mechanics in this patch going to make a covops like mine easier to pick out?
Heck, even if everything did go my way and I managaed to luck into an adequately fitted ship, I'd probably just get caught in a DD at the rate these crazy dudes are throwing them around. But before I actually throw down money on a real subscription I'd like to find out if what I'm trying to accomplish is even feasible.

6/2 update
tl;dr: You see all those hostile towers on yesterday's jpg? With the exception of the 5V tower which we blueballed RKZ on, they're dead. All of them. As of 13:30ish evetime today.
We whacked the 16:00 Z-XX towers of EXE with impunity. They were very angry, because they thought they'd have a jammer to help defend; the patch set the sov tickers back a day, so they only achieved sov3 today. Too late! Not like it would have mattered, their turnout was terrible and RKZ was only interested in defending 5V, not the assets of their 'allies'.
The first big event in eurotime - as far as hostile resistance went, because we were whacking towers with impunity until 17:30ish - was the AMAZING EPIC FIGHT for 5V. 5V is, of course, RKZ's third R64. They called for hictors and dreads; they called their allies for support; they called in 5 Titans.
We did the exact same thing we did last time they formed up to save 5V en masse: we blueballed them and laughed, while burning down the rest of Querious. You'd think they'd have figured this pattern out by now.
After repping 5V, RKZ moved to ZXJ (one of our R64 systems) to try to defeat their alliance's bete noir: the cynosural system jammer. RKZ has had 'jammer issues' for months now, and this day was no different. ~120 of them, sniper bs and logistics, engaged the jammer tower. We arranged a double-bubble and, once their fleet was trapped, hopped through our jump bridge onto them and did terrible, terrible things. Apparently we even lined up a couple of bomb shots on them before the main fleet commenced firing, meaning that most of the enemy had already lost their shields.
They got the jammer to 40% armor. Foiled again! Phreeze on teamspeak, midfight: "Apoc is primary apoc is primary..er...ok Megathron is primary every one shoot the Megathron..well....**** we are ****ing butchering them just shoot everything." *stops calling primaries*
After this rout, RKZ hid in a small Frontal Impact tower. We had the password, so we bounced them out of it. Then the FC had the pw changed, bouncing out even more of them. No honor!
Then we heard that KIA was in a tussle with Romulans in 0-NTIS and they needed help, with a Coven/Romulan gang giving them grief. First, we caught up with the Coven gang. They were playing rearguard without a scout. We got a perfect pair of dictor bubbles due to an Imperian warpin and obliterated them. As the Romulans fled, we picked off a Navy Apoc.
We rounded out early US prime with a suicide squad into Providence which apparently failed in its mission because I see a lot of survivors in the battle report. Hostile resistance had utterly collapsed by this stage.
This morning we got up at 7:00 eve - amist mass server chaos, and collected some more tower killmails, linked above. No resistance yet, save from CCP's own servers.
8 more tower killmails to collect between the moment I write this and the end of US Prime. Busy day! You know the Apoc Navy Issue he mentioned? Well, it was from the alliance we left. Mittani singled it out because the fit was... subpar.

I think there are much more interesting things to do. If you really want to witness the action, join an alliance so you'll know the context and the 'behind the scenes' stuff. I'm having a lot of fun ninja salvaging though. After only a few days, I've managed to get the ire of a corporation and 3 failed attempts on my ill fitted thrasher.
A Navy Raven and 5 of his corp-mates were 'just chilling' outside the station I base out of. Thank god for warp core stabalisers - I warped away and get called a coward. It was glorious. ~10mil richer too ^_^

@number1gog, it is possible to chill in a cov-ops and observe fights. But they are boring/very laggy on the 400+ scale. If you do go that route, you could write articles for www.eve-tribune.com and get paid for it, if your article is good that is ...
But like mentioned there are so many other things that are a lot more fun, but if that is your goal, it is definitely possible to do.

How is that fit subpar? He mentioned it because it was a half a billion loss, when all of the Roms BSes are just T2 or T1 fit and only cost 200M tops.
And speaking of Covert Ops ship, yes you can observe fights, but you can't lock anything and you have to be sure nothing gets to close. There have been some good fights recently down in Stain and Period basis that were pretty big. Plenty of titans, Mommies and Carriers to look at.
Cloaking is really incredible overpowered in my opinion, as long as you plant a scout in a system, you can observe the the station basically indefinitely through your scanner with zero percent chance of being caught due to cloaking.

They both mentioned it (Phreeze and Mittani) cause at the same time it managed to be stupidly expensive and pretty horrible as a fleet ship. maybe some of our more experienced members could comment if you think im wrong.
http://www.eve-razor.com/killboard/?a=kill_detail&kll_id=172512
And its much more than only a half a bil loss :D
|
If it is so bad, why does it get the most damage every time the Romanians go POS bashing, which is what they were doing. That is why he had beams fit rather than Pulse I assume. A similar loadout, (Tanked Less Heavily) received good ratings on Battleclinic (obviously more damage for missions)
http://www.battleclinic.com/forum/index.php/topic,23198.0/Apocalypse-Navy-Issue-8-Tach-Navy-Apoc-Lvl4-Mission-runner-.html
The reason because I said it was half a bil was cause I took a glance at the primary KB, but I don't think the Guns had a price, which obviously lowered the price drasticly. I thought about editing my post, but I didn't.
|
i dont even know where to start.
1. Pulses do MORE damage than beams, not less. So if the only purpose of the ship was to only shoot at poses for maximum damage, he would have fit pulses, no? Theyre also lighter on fitting, which he seems to struggle with.
2. You NEVER bring navy issue battleships on 0.0 POS ops, cause you expect to lose them anyway.
3. You NEVER active tank those battleships cause you need every single bit of cap to fire the guns. Especially on POS bashing excursions, which you say this one was for. And your damage tanked is gonna be a fraction of incoming damage anyway, if youre relying on something to survive its enough buffer till remote rep kicks in. He doesnt have any buffer (plates).
4. Fleet bses need sniperange, which means t2 crystals, which mean t2 guns (not faction), which means SENSOR BOOSTERS to reach that range, none of which he has. Only fitting for one particular case (shortrange pos bash) when there are extreme posibilities of enemy resistance is stupid.
5. If he isnt fitting an 8th tach, at least fit a remote rep ffs.
6. No mwd on any kind of pvp is fail.
7. Comparing a mission fit with pvp fit is pretty damn bad, even for you.
8. Battleclinic is pretty horrible.
If this still doesnt make sense to you, look at the fleet loadouts for major alliances. That might make you see how wrong this fit was.
